Today, I have some fascinating facts to share about the Boleyn family, a family close to my heart. These tidbits might surprise you and give you a deeper insight into their intriguing history.
Did you know that Anne Boleyn’s father inherited a unique family heirloom? Or that her mother was praised by a famous poet? There are also some mysteries about Mary Boleyn's later years. Anne herself might have met a legendary figure during her time in France, and her brother George was celebrated for his talents. Jane Boleyn played a significant role in the lives of others, and Elizabeth I honoured her mother in some special ways.
If these facts have piqued your interest, I’m excited to announce an 8-day online event in November dedicated to the Boleyn family! I’ll be diving into:
Thomas and Elizabeth Boleyn
Anne Boleyn's rise and fall
Mary Boleyn's legacy
George Boleyn's life and work
Jane Boleyn's controversial story
Elizabeth I, the Boleyn Queen
The enduring legacy of the Boleyns
There will be seven talks and eight Zoom Q&A sessions, offering plenty of opportunities to discuss Tudor history. If you register before 31st July, you can join us for $65, saving $15. Head to claireridgway.com/events/the-... for more details and to secure your spot.
I can’t wait to share more about the Boleyns with you and hear your thoughts! See you there!

Leonardo DaVinci painted himself in several portraits. Leonardo was good looking, he had golden, curly hair and hazel eyes. He could sing and dance, play instruments. He was gifted in every way. Anne Boleyn would have noticed and remembered him.

@@Shane-Flanagan Indeed. That was amazing. Hope you are doing well. Here in America we are fearing Trump may win the election. It meant a lot that our allies think highly of President Biden. I know Biden will be eighty. He’s not the same when he was vice president. There’s no need for the media and the democrats in Washington to turn against him. The democrats have no backbone. Whereas Trump is saying he wants to be a dictator on day one and the republicans are standing strong behind him. The media is not reporting that with he will become a dictator. The Supreme Court made him king. He can do whatever he wants without accountability. The Supreme Court made gave him immunity. Sorry for dumping this on you. I just wanted to put it out there that I’m not like him, his allies and his supporters.

The possibility of a Da Vinci connection is interesting. Anne lived in such a dynamic period in western history, I often wonder if she found the English Court dull, especially after her time in France. Many thanks Claire for this enjoyable broadcast.

What if Anne had become Anne da Vinci? Then there would have been no Queen Elizabeth I, and the state of Virginia would be called something different! George Boleyn would have become a celebrity poet, and maybe Jane, Anne, and Mary would have started a new fashion line and boutique in Paris..."La Boleyn", or something.

I do like to imagine Henry VIII watching over his children once he'd passed and being devastated that the most successful/long reigning children was the daughter of his first beheaded wife 😂 that he lied about so badly 😂
