Aaaahhh, you've picked out another pearl of German voices: Henning May, from the group AnnenMayKantereit. Three guys who started out as street musicians in my home town of Cologne and have since taken off. If you like the German language so much, I'd like to recommend a video that might help you a little. "How anyone (including YOU) can read German" by RobWords. Keep up the good work and have fun. P.S. Thank you for this reaction. Henning sings about his mom. I enjoyed your reaction, I would expect someone could be only able to appreciate this song after being already in love with this band. Which I absolutely am. Glad you liked it. These guys have ridiculous number of masterpieces. And yes they are as you said raw - all songs are one shot, natural instruments, surroundings, no enhancements to voice, video or sound.

A little side fact: Germany has the largest music market in whole Europe and the third largest music market on this planet - after the US and Japan. So there are a lot of great german bands to discover, making every kind of music. And a lot of german musicians perform in english as well. So there are a lot of german musicians avaible and a lot of music of every genre, too! :) Keep on exploring! :)

AnnenMayKantereit (or AMK) is a bandname consisting of the family names of Christopher Annen (guitar), Henning May (vocals) and Severin Kantereit (drums). They are huge in germany! And somehow no german knows them :-D By now, they fill stadiums. I saw them in about 2015 when they were way smaller. But the screams of the girls were just as loud back then ;-)

The Big Push have an original song in which Ren plays the same instrument like Henning in this song, it is called "Swan Song" and it ist very beautiful. I couldn't find it in your Ren playlist. The Big Push know and like the music of AnnenMayKantereit, it would be great if they could do a collaboration. ❤

I guess the translation failed badly... the lyrics clearly are by Henning May - he's got a lot of melancholy and grieve inside him. If he's singing about a girl or about his late mother we'll probably never be told. Artist's privacy seal so to say.
