Honestly with hooded eyes, we just have to experiment. I feel like every time i watch a tutorial for hooded eyes they never would work on my specific hooded eyes (plus my eyes are super uneven/asymmetrical. The struggle is very real). I noticed a lot of people have far more top space/space under their brow than i do for these tutorials. I hope this works for a lot of people but for me it wouldn't work 😭

This is such a smart and actually simple way of doing a dramatic winged liner for anyone but especially for anyone with hooded eyes. I especially liked that you pointed out that using the lower lash line doesn't always work if your eyes aren't symmetrical because I have been burned by this before. The combination of green, teal and gold is really pretty. I am looking for a dramatic eye look for a witchy Halloween costume and this is perfect, I think I will try it with matte red, pink and black with maybe a little shimmery highlighter in the inner corners and under brows.

I love this type of video. My eyes are so round that winged eyeliner isn’t an option for me, but I’ve discovered there are many other cool things I can do as long as I work with my eye shape instead of trying to follow what everyone else does. That’s why I like this video so much, even though my eyes are not hooded it still teaches me something. I have a small request, everyone swatches the Clionadh eyeshadows, but there aren’t many creative multichrome tutorials. I’d really love to see what you can do with them and as they’ll restock on November 4th I’m kind of hoping to see a good video, so I know what to pick up once they have all of the shadows again. If you don’t have the time I completely understand, but I thought I’d give it a shot and ask.
@AnnettesMakeupCorner5 жыл бұрын
Exactly! Its so important to do looks that work with YOUR eye shape, and not what everyone else does. Im sue there are youtubers with your eye shape too that you can get tips and tricks from! As for the multichromes, I think the reason there arent 'creative' tutorials with them is because they just perform the best used on their own. theres no trick to using them, just slap a color in your crease and a multichrome all over ur lid, or blend it out without a crease color. Its what I've found to work best! Check out badtothebrow, she did a full eye swatching video with a bunch of the shadows
@Sue-pn7mq5 жыл бұрын
Annette's Makeup Corner I’m usually not happy that u can’t blend upwards, but in this case a big moving lid might be handy as I have enough space for more than one. I’ve seen one tutorial with two per eye and that looked amazing, which is why I asked. But I wonder with hooded eyes you might not see enough of the shift if you do that?
@AnnettesMakeupCorner5 жыл бұрын
The problem with using more than one shade even if you have a lot of lid space is that you need the curvature of your lid in order for the color shift to show. If you put two colors on, it wont have enough surface area for the light to hit it it different angels. You actually can blend them out in their own. At least the Clionadh ones. They have kind of a black base, so when you blend them, it almost turns into a black-ish matte, its really cool! It obviously wont work as well on hooded eyes since people will only see it when u blink or look down. Check out Hannah Louises video, it was really cool to just watch her play with them! kzbin.info/www/bejne/jGKmiIKsp7uFjJo

Annette's Makeup Corner Thanks for all the help and for taking the time to reply and give me advice, that’s really useful. I’m going to pick them up from the post office today and can’t wait to start playing with them. I might see if I can make use of my extra moving lid space and make them look good by putting one above the other as that will keep the shift. I also got my Glaminatrix shadows the other day and absolutely love them, thanks for recommending them.

I think you did an excellent job of giving a tutorial. I’m sure you’ve helped many people by sharing your unique wing. At my age I feel wings have passed me by, but I may try your technique just for fun as I find playing with makeup quite relaxing. Just really wanted to compliment you on your technique & delivery! 👏🏼👏🏼💙🌻

Literally how I've been doing mine for years🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I have seen other hooded eye liner tutorials and A LOT of people have learned to do it that way too!!! Its like geographical evolution, where two completely different species in two completely different parts of the world end up evolving into basically the same exact thing (like Green Tree Pythons and Emerald Boas!!). Us hooded eye people have all evolved to do the fish hook barb thing (that's what I call it!!). Of course not everyone has so I say the more hooded liner tutorials the better!!!!!!!
@AnnettesMakeupCorner5 жыл бұрын
Hahahaha thats awesome! I've never seen anyone do a hooded eye tutorial like this, so hopefully it will help the people who havent gotten to this point yet haha

Have you seen Nikki Raven's "Whale Tails"? It's kinda' her own unique take on wings for hooded eyes. 😉
@amypanddirtytoo19265 жыл бұрын
@@scotzmnswife no! I've watched Alissa Ashley's, Stephanie Lange's, Smitha Deepak's, Crystal Lindy's, and a few others, but not hers! Does she do the thing where you draw the wing on with your eye open and when you close your eye it looks like a fish hook kinda shape?
@scotzmnswife5 жыл бұрын
@@amypanddirtytoo1926, it looks a little different to me. Not so much of a fish-hook shape, but does indeed look like a whale-tail flipping out of the water when the eye is closed. Here's a link, as it is a bit hard to describe, but very creative & cool IMO. 😉 🐳 kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5TVkq1saNSjgcU

Stephanie Lange needs to stop saying she has hooded eyes, she doesnt at all and it makes me mad that shes making so much content for people that do. None of her techniques would work on me

Omg thank you! I've watched SO many tutorials on eyeliner for hooded eyes. None of the ladies' creases came down as far as mine so it was still a struggle. This helped so much!

The fold of my hood has always gone lower than my water line. There is NO WAY to do a winged liner with such an eye shape unless you’re going for a VERY extreme, goth kind of look. I just want others to know that. No shade toward the video, it’s great and certainly very helpful to many people. However, there are us, who’s eyes are too hooded for any winged liner and that’s okay.
@AnnettesMakeupCorner5 жыл бұрын
Yeah I realize with my tutorial, just like every other tutorial Ive watched for hooded eyes that it really depends on exactly how hooded someones eyes are. Sorry this doesnt work for you. Im sure at some point my eyes will become so hooded that this wont work for me either, but Ima keep doing it until then haha
@Northernlunar5 жыл бұрын
As someone who has the fold to their water line I do my eyeliner straight out instead of up like hers and it’s less dramatic and suits me better

@@AnnettesMakeupCorner I hope I didn't sound critical of your video, because I think you did a great job, better than anyone I've seen on KZbin, representing hooded eyes and winged liner. Truly a wonderful tutorial. I just like to point out to people why it still may not work for them. I'm 39, so I remember long before KZbin questioning why I couldn't achieve certain looks I attempted and at that time not understanding it. Your video is the best I've seen by far.

I came across a video about genetics and hooded eye shape a year or so ago. Although the video had nothing to do with makeup, it stuck with me. The narrator mentioned some famous people with very hooded eyes and he mentioned Blake Lively and Jennifer Lawrence. I Googled them both; Blake Lively makeup, Jennifer Lawrence makeup and I had an epiphany makeup moment. I saw that there are beautiful women with beautiful makeup who have hooded eyes and don't do certain makeup looks because of it. It might sound so trivial, but for anyone with very hooded eyes, you'll get it.

I subscribed to you because you are such a good teacher. I only recently noticed that, for the most part, these so called tutorials are really just "Watch me apply makeup" films. You are in the minority but thats a really good thing. Another great teacher is Sara Loves Makeup as, like you she shows the hows and whys of every step. I have been using makeup since the late 60's and did wings and everything as a Punk in the seventies. However your face changes with time and my eyes are beginning to look hooded, which is something I have never dealt with before. So to find good teachers like yourself, Sara and my other favourite Alexandra Anele, is brilliant...I never understood undertones until very recently because I am ghostly white, Scottish and just always used the lightest shades but since realising, thanx to Alex, I dont look quite so deathly and have even tried bronzer lol! This video is a great example of a proper tutorial. Thank you and I love your hair! That is a gorgeous eye look!

OMG! You are so awesome! I make my wings straight out instead of up, and it works really really well for me, but it's still not exactly the same (wings up). Like why didn't I think of this? With hoods its almost always higher than the crease line for eyeshadows so it works with eyeliner as well. Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention. ❤

Yeah I used to do it straight out too, but it never gave the effect I wanted, this works great for me!
