This song is not as sad - it is healing. This is a song about the shedding of an old self for something beautiful and new and fresh and optimistic and hopeful The song seems to allude STRONGLY to a reckoning and a rebirth. No more I love yous for the things that never served us. No more I love yous for the things that never loved you back. No more I love yous for that which stole your childhood dreams. No more I love yous for that which confused us with fantasmical and unrealistic and unsustainable notions of what we thought relationships and love was supposed to be. This song is about the shedding of an old self and seeing the light of something new and beautiful. The song is DRIPPING with self worth. That you are good. That you are worthy. And that you deserve to align with the universe for once. SO TAKE IT IN, SHED THAT OLD SELF, AND START YOUR OWN HEALING

The song performed by Annie Lennox: "No more 'I love you's" has really got through to me! You might find it hard to believe that a tough old 46-yr-old man will pour with tears, just listening to it; but maybe you'll understand better if I explain that I'm an emotional wreck. Expressions like feeling "woebegone", and such "restless nights", especially due to family break-ups, have literally left me speechless, many times.. "The language is leaving me in silence!" So, I give my thanks to the producers/composers of this song, and warm encouragement to anyone who is sharing this "desire, dispare, desire" that I am undergoing!!

I've only ever had one true love. So many years later, this song still brings me to tears. I lost him, still think of him every single bloody day. He played this song to me when we were driving along... and said, 'this is my song for you'. What a silly fool I was not having the courage to tell him how much I loved him and my fear of what everyone would think... Sounds so very wrong, but I dated his brother who had affairs behind my back. Met the wrong brother first....

Hey everybody, I see a lot of negative things about crying,,, sometimes we need to do it, I retired from the fire service after a 14 year career due to ptsd and addiction, I’m not a soft bloke but I don’t admit crying everyday for years when thing affected me, I still went to work and done my job, until it all became to much Just remember my point is don’t be ashamed to cry, we all break down at some point
@baileymoran85855 ай бұрын
Personally I hate crying because it makes my eyes burn and my face feels hot and I don’t like how usually my face and shirt ends up wet. But I don’t shame anyone for doing so. I don’t think anyone wants to cry. It sucks, especially when it’s from sadness. Why make them feel worse than they already do?

@baileymoran85855 ай бұрын
For me this song is very bitter-sweet. I actually went through a lot of early trauma and already had trust issues, when I went through something as a young adult that made me shut myself off in a very big way. I cut everyone out of my life and stopped going anywhere unless it was a necessary evil like making money or getting groceries. When I was a child I though the song sounded happy and fairy-like. At that point I thought it was sad. But I kept listening anyway. However someone I cohost push away helped me get into therapy and get my life back. I later married that man. Now, years later when I hear this, it has a sort of nostalgia for that dark time, because I realize I had to go through it. I had to shut down in order to give myself time to heal. It had to get worse before it got better, and I had to be a detached and isolated person to do that. I got into the first and only healthy relationship I’ve had after starting to come out the other side. If I hadn’t taken two years off of being a social creature I would have just caused myself more stress. The only company I could handle was my own and through therapy I became my support system and eventually started living again. There is a comfort in a mental breakdown because for the first time in a long time, possibly ever, you have no expectations on you, or at least you don’t care about them. You just do what your mind can handle and once you come out of that, you can miss that feeling and block out the underlying pain you had behind that comfort. Music can be a popular tool to look back without getting too deep into the full headspace you were in at that time.

I believe this song also speaks of the turmoils of a relationship as well in which sometimes is enough to want to break away from it having doubts and too many thoughts in a relationship makes it hard to enjoy being in one. Clarity and transparency instead of so many monsters and feelings of desire and despair. Without it a relationship is broken and left with no more I love you which is maybe harder than living with relationship issues or finding a way to resolve them with our partners. The art of songwriting and how a feeling is related is the greatest thing about music and some artists n writers leave us dumbfounded how they were able to express it in the way they did. Music can sometimes be the therapeutic thing to get us through our hardest times due to someone else’s empathy n passion on the subject or heartfelt feelings. May we all find peace and meaningful love with transparency!

Such a beautiful song but it makes me think about how we are breaking hearts of those around us, not just romantic relationships. Each person in our family has broken the hearts of many others. Moms, love your children, be good to them and show them love every day. This is how we can break dysfunction from one generation to the next. And if you don't already know Jesus as savior, get to know Him. He is come to give us eternal life!

When this song came out in 1995, I was 17. I didn't understand it at all. I thought it was strange and a bit creepy. I liked it because it was Annie Lennox. But now that I'm in my 40s, I understand it so much more. So often, we throw ourselves to people begging them to love us, whether they are lovers, family members, or people we believe are our friends, yet that love, devotion and loyalty is not reciprocated. And suddenly, we stop trying to gain their love and acceptance, because loving and accepting ourselves is so much more important.
