I think you're wrong about Bladensburg. You said that was the last time a US President was on the battlefield, but the battle of Fort Stevens during the American Civil War is famously one where two Presidential rivals were on opposite side of a battle, as John C. Breckenridge was commanding a Confederate Corps while Abraham Lincoln came out of Washington to observe the battle and came under fire.

Early colonial history is one of my favorite subjects, here's the events to help you: Oct 12, 1492, San Salvador in the Bahamas meaning the Holy Savior Nov. 14, 1493, Columbus arrives at St. Croix in the Virgin Islands Nov. 19, Columbus arrives in Puerto Rico which he named originally San Juan Bautista (St. John the Baptist) April 2, 1513, Juan Ponce de Leon arrives in Florida (Yes, Columbus did reach Venezuela and Panama) Ferdinand Magellan, while he is portuguese, the entire expedition was funded by Spain, after he died in the Philippines, Juan Sebastian el Cano completed the voyage and was given a coat of arms for this. Sept. 28, 1542 - San Diego bay discovered 1560s. - Dominque de Gourges was a french privateer that sought revenge from the massacre at Fort Caroline in 1565 near modern day Jacksonville which was renamed Fort San Mateo and massacred the spanish defenders the same way the french were killed Oct 15, 1582 the Gregorian calendar came into effect. If go to october of that year on your phone or computer, the month is shorter by 2 weeks.

13:27 Fun fact, the 20th amendment to the U.S. Constitution - which set the presidential inauguration day on Jan. 20 (or 21st if the 20th was a Sunday) - was largely ratified in response to the disastrous presidency of Herbert Hoover, with Democrats especially wishing to end the four month "lame duck" period incumbent presidents historically possessed after a presidential election. FDR thus was the first president to be inaugurated in late Jan. for his second term in Jan. 1937.

Not a "battle of figs", but there was a "War of the Oranges" in the early 1800s between Spain and Portugal. The name comes from the fact that the main instigator (and Spanish Prime Minister) Manuel Godoy promised to gift the Queen with a load of oranges from Portugal as a way to celebrate the victory. The war, however, was inconclusive and only led to the Spanish and Portuguese militaries being both weakened, which in turn made things easier when Napoleon tried to invade both countries.

a challenge: Here is a translation blended speech. Anyone can figure out what it is or who said it. (hint: It is one of Chris' favorite historical figures) _Guests are not guests. It doesn't show what the conflict is like, and it doesn't show where the staff can improve. This is a credit to the people in the field, whose faces are covered in dirt, sweat and will, who fight bravely and sometimes make mistakes. Because there is no effort there is no error or mistake. Who would try to do something like this? I know great passion, great excitement. A great benefit is given to the person. The last victory is that he knows best this work, and the one who knows best that he is very passionate, if he fails, his fortune will not suffer. The soul knows only victory or victory._

Big fan, hope you and your family are doing well. My alternate history question would be regarding Andrew Jackson and the Nullification Crisis. If he had marched with troops into South Carolina and there was a military conflict, would that have set a precedent allowing for a future peaceful negotiation by Lincoln to end slavery? Andrew Jackson was no hero of the abolitionists obviously but if he had taken military action would it have gave the states considering secession second thoughts about war?
