Yelling at a piece of paper, truely the unifier of all creative hobbies. Even if it's not a literal piece of paper, we've all been there. I've told friends to take my laptop off me if I start screaming while trying to tab something by ear. I'm planning on getting more into machine sewing again this year, so more sewing friends would be good. Especially considering some of my plans.

Its definitely 7s fault! 😂 But on a truthful note, many numbered patterns will drop the 9, so you have no chance of connecting a 6 to an upsidedown 9, and vice versa. I think thats why most patterns use letters as you can go 15 up to o, before you get to the upside down/ back to front issue (bpq)

Love the dress! For the real fabric, use the thinnest pins you can find and microtex needles. I was really scared of my wedding dress fabric at first, but it was actually really easy to sew with. I used satin duchesse and had lace and tulle overlay. I'm crossing my thumbs that everything goes well for you! Can't wait to see it!

@@AlextheENTP Glad I could help! When I started sewing, I also soaked up every little bit of information that I came across on the internet. Now I have set ways of how I like to do things, but I still come across interesting new ways of doing stuff from time to time. You'll never start learning. If you have any questions, hit me up! I don't have a youtube channel, but I'm glad to help spread the sewing love! Bonus Tip: Practice everything on crap fabric like old bed sheets. I still do this when I try out a new pattern. Just like Annika does with her mock up. You can do a mock up for everything, not just weddnig dresses ;)

It looks really good! If I can give you one tip though, is to look at the straps for the actual dress. I think they look lie the are a little loose and do not fit very well. Maybe instead of pinning them on where the pattern tells you to, you could have someone pin them in the right place for you while you are wearing them?

Beautiful! Recommendation: Take the time to sew some of those seams by hand. Specifically, the hem and the last part of the facing of the straps (after you iron down the free edge). On a fancier material, there is no way you'll get as clean a finish by machine, and for a wedding gown, you want it to be as perfect as you can make it. Also, some shapewear is needed to achieve the 30s silhouette. A 30s lady would have been wearing some foundation garments, not because of her weight or whatever, but strictly to achieve the silhouette. When recreating an historical fashion, you really need to wear the appropriate undergarments.

Truth. I do historical reenacting and historical undergarments are absolutely necessary. However for my wedding i would definitely NOT wear them in the name of being comfortable. Maybe some underbust spanks at the maximum.....

@@mellie4174 Yes, comfort is important, no question on that. The issue is that using an historical pattern to sew the dress and then not wearing the appropriate undergarments can make the dress hang differently than it was intended to. The pattern designers would have assumed the wearer would have the correct foundations on. So that may have been part of the reason she had to add the shirred panel at the back. If you make alterations to suit modern undergarments, no problem.

I was thinking of that! But there's absolutely no way I can do anything that compresses my stomach or i would be in agony 😭 I'm trying to think of some kind of workaround and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

@@AnnikaVictoria24 The problem is, given the plunging back, I can't think of any foundation garment that wouldn't show. You might try experimenting with waterproof surgical tape (www.amazon.com/Hy-Tape-Pink-Tape-yards-PACK/dp/B009VLF35Q/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=Hy-Tape-Pink-Tape-yards&qid=1581920034&sr=8-2) to give the girls some lift and structure. I have a very large bosom and have successfully used same. I have worn for over 12 hours straight and it held the whole time. Just be very careful, slow and gentle when removing. Also practice makes perfect.

🤯😍 Oh wow wow WOW! You.... this.... . . Words! I has no more words! 😵 Sorry, got the silliness out, I'm ok now. The dress looks uhh-mazing, and I can't wait to see it in your gorgeous dress fabric. One suggestion: if you haven't played around with it yet, practice with your blind hem stitch foot (which I'm SURE your fantastic Bernina came with) to hem those final four meters of the dress. That should eliminate the stress of hemming perfectly straight, and also encapsulate those fray happy fabric edges if folded properly. It might not hurt to invest in some of the lightest weight iron on interfacing you can find to ensure your seams stay flat and unfrayed. Tons of L❤️VE to my favorite adorable KZbin couple (give Luci a 🤗 from me) and please give your nieces my love, because they are the coolest rising KZbin stars of the new decade! 😎🤩

You know what, that is a brilliant idea!! I will definitely use my toile to practice the hem on! Especially with this scary fabric 🙈 and you must be a mind reader, we were just discussing the benefits of adding some interfacing or tape to the seams to prevent fraying!! Although we also thought we might bind them in a style that's apparently called "Hong Kong seams" which involves wrapping strips of lighter mesh fabric on the seams and sewing them on. I have got lots of new techniques to try (and show you all!!) in the next installment!

@@AnnikaVictoria24 well, if you think about it, commercial wedding dresses are fully lined to cover the seams. But that's SOOOOOO much more work, and lined dresses are always heavier and more cumbersome. However, with your fabric choice I'm pretty sure you want your final dress to be lightweight, so heck with linings! Also, can't believe I forgot to mention how precious Luci's reaction was when you came out in the dress for him to see! You REALLY found yourself a keeper, hun. Luciano, you are a true gem of a man, and your parents must be so proud of you. 🤗 Love you both!

Amazing!!!! During the video I was thinking that your hair would be perfect for your wedding. Your wedding will be magical!!! Pro-tip- put on your mock up with the shoes you plan to wear and spend about an hour just doing your thing. Walking, bending, going to the bathroom. That way if you need to adjust for these things you can. Also ride on your scooter with it so you will know how it will hang and you can adjust for that.

Honestly Annika, if you see this. Relax. Your wedding day is going to be the best, and Luci is going to be happy marrying you no matter what you wear. Years ago now I was commissioned to make a wedding dress for a lovely woman I happen to meet while she was looking for a dress pattern. I recreated a pattern from the 50's, I helped her pick out fabric, I made 1 mock up, 1 dress without seam allowance (i completely flubbed it, omg I cried for 2 days) and then the final dress. It will be beautiful no matter what, and you are going to be beautiful not matter what on your wedding day. It will be lovely and stressful. Best of luck to you and you wedding dress!

I also plan to make my own wedding dress, mainly because I want like a very light baby blue kind of thing. But I've been sewing costumes for myself for about 5 years for anime conventions and stuff, so I'm very familiar with making my own patterns and teaching myself. But I made some friends who took costume studies in college, so they're literally trained in how to sew and modify patterns. It's really great to know people who have more experience.
