Hello, fellow independent designer from Los Angeles here, who specializes in tulle*~ The gathering foot does work with tulle, it's just a bit of a beast. Here are some tricks I've discovered with it: 1. Have more than one layer of tulle if you want to use the gathering foot as intended. I prefer using two layers bc if you use more than two, it doesn't even gather at all. I don't know why but it might just be my Singer sewing machine 2. If you just want to gather tulle, again use two layers but the trick is to not feed the tulle through the slit, just sew with it as you would with any ol' sewing foot. Also, make sure not to pull or tug the tulle as you're sewing bc it'll make looser gathers that aren't as tight. Just let it do it's thing and let it land where it wants to. I discovered these tricks when I made an oversized tulle jumper that accidentally ended up being worn by Rickey Thompson to the Harper's Bazaar Icons Party lol All the best, - Karlito

Wonderfully done video. My mom, and we girls made tule/net dresses for us for our proms. It was the in thing then. I wore mine to stand up for my sister at her wedding. Working with tule or net is a whole different world. You depict it great. There's no easy way to sew this stuff... especially pleated, which was really brave. So cute.

I am somewhat new to your channel, so I've still only watched a scattered handful that have grabbed my attention (as someone who is waiting right now for sewing machines to come back in stock so I can finally buy one and learn to sew!), so I very recently watched one from a while back when I think you were just discovering how much people appreciate seeing the mistakes, and in this video, hearing you talk about the vulnerability of sharing but knowing it is valuable to your viewers, I just want to say, I am super proud of you for courageously opening yourself up by sharing more and more, and also acknowledging that you are already very self-critical but fully appreciate people's constructive feedback. It takes a special mindset and sincere desire to perfect a craft for someone to gracefully accept feedback from strangers, and I simply had to tell you how much I appreciate seeing that! Makes me really feel like I am joining you on your journey, and also excites me to begin that journey myself! So thank you SO much for offering yourself up and sharing the things you are learning, and of course for sharing your beautiful work 🥰

I want to highlight this! Making my own clothes has shown me how much time and effort can go into a garment, and was one of the main factors in me understanding that fast fashion prices come at a cost to people with less power in the manufacturing chain. I hope my vids can continue to help people see the work involved!

@@withwendy Thank you for answering! Although i have stopped buying fast fashion bevor i found videos and channels lie yours, videos like these, as you said, do really show how much goes into any piece of garment and how we should really treasure every piece of clothing and pay for the fair amount! Love your videos! :)

Lisa Kirchkuchen The wage here is adjusted to the low cost of living and other economic factors here. You can’t expect high wages that businesses in the country can’t afford or our entire economy which is highly dependent on such industries would collapse, leaving millions unemployed, starving and helpless. Workers in these garments factories live comfortable lives to the standards in the country, which is obviously drastically different from a first world country. In fact, these ‘poor’ ladies are paid much better than any other alternative job they could do with no education or valued skills. Most of these ladies have to slave their lives away for even lower pay in other mining/construction/cleaning/factory jobs, or most commonly work as servants in houses where they’re usually abused, overworked and exploited by their employers.
