The second best book I have read as a programmer. The absolute best was "Pålidelig Programmering" by Torben Søvndahl and Jeppe Traberg, but that book was in Danish and released in 1977, so you probably hadn't heard about it.

27:48 Watching from East London.👋 While listening to this I couldn't help but think about how much the world of computing has changed. The was was quite literally in its infancy (just realised my home is over 2000x times faster than my college's), most of today's programming languages and technologies weren't invented back then, yet still based on ideas from the '60s. I brought 64GB of fast DDR4 memory for my desktop earlier today for a little over £200 (225), that's more memory than you could fit in a computer that took up a whole rack cabinet back then. PS: I do cringe when I get the occasional recruiter email looking for agile developers for an agile company (someone needs to do a parody of Eifel's [forgot number] Blue).

I've just realised my first ever RAM upgrade was in 1997-98. It was 16MB for a Pentium P120 (which struggled to decode MP3's!), I think it cost £70 which, with inflation is about the same cost as those 64GB today.🤯
