I'm so fascinated by the geology as well. Have you ever seen the Stone Forest in China? I didn't realize there was one in Madagascar as well. Those are really amazing.

Indeed the whole geology aspect of mining is newer to us but so technical and fascinating. We learn more and more every mine we visit. It's a slippery slope... one day you're out looking for colorful rocks, the next you're learning about the creation of the universe trying to identify the stone you just found 😂 I haven't heard of the "stone forest" before but that sounds interesting, I will be looking that up for sure 👍Thanks!

@@mojo.adventures its very fascinating geology. I saw it on NHK. I think it was called The Mysterious Stone Forest. It seems to be the inspiration for the location in the movie Avatar.

The Remote Trooper brought me here. Really nice hike .The canyon is amazing. What water and time can do to rock , soil and gravel is magnificent. Beautiful place. You have 2 very cute little ones with you to. Just subscribed to your channel. I thoroughly enjoyed the video .

It's like nature's rock tumbler with grit and all!😎 The dogs love adventures just as much us also, they never know what they're getting into 🤣 Appreciate you subscribing too! We're newer 'round here still figuring things out, but we have a ton of old west adventure and mining history coming as fast as we can edit the videos (which isn't very fast at this point) 😆

Right on! I'm with you on that... seems so calm and relaxing wandering around the colorful washes. Weird too thinking how much activity and noise was going on not too long ago with all the mining! Lots of animal activity too. The "blades" are like a big sluice box 👍 Every time it rains new stuff washes down! Glad you enjoyed the video. I tried to explore this in 2016, but the narrows were ( fenced) blocked off, did I go to the wrong area ?

You were most likely in the right area! If you look around 7:04 kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3vQiKSkl7Olj7c you can see remains of the fence sticking up. From what I understand that fence stemmed from the lawsuit over the road. Since NPS could not come to an agreement with the claim holder, he shut down access across the claim to avoid a potential lawsuit if people drove back there and got stuck or injured. There was one specific flash flood that came down and destroyed most of the fence back around that time. After the lawsuit and appeal didn't get any traction, the road was never completed and it seems they abandoned the idea of fencing it off again. When the fence was still up you could access the narrows by parking down at the intersection near "Offroad Tip #2" and walking off through the backcountry around the claim area to the narrows.

If you drive to the same parking area, it's about 1 mile to the narrows entrance. You can go as far as you want, but most do out & back shortly after the start. The canyon opens up on the other side around mile 4. Be advised of the heat also! There is no shade before the narrows and it's brutal down there in summer after 9am. Happy trails! 👍
