A tip : goat are fertility-independant. Nothing prevents you from building the production on the occidental islands and ship it down, avoiding noria trouble. Similarly, noria exploit is usable on pig and cattle if you so desire.

true that. for me that would just destroy the atmosphere, having oriental farms in the occident as well as norias. imo they simply don't belong there visual-wise. but for the sake of efficiency: you are totally right!

1 Spice Farm=500 citizens, 909 patricians, or 1250 noblemen. 1 Date Plantation=450 Nomads or 600 Envoys. 1 Goat Farm=Same As dates 1 Carpenters Workshop=900 Nomads or 1500 Envoys.

How do you use those numbers to calculate how much production you need? As I understand it - those numbers are not a sum, right? But you will never have only X amount of Nobels - you will always have also the lesser people. So you calculate for each type individually then you sum together the required amount? Obviously this is just a theoretical question, as I would never even attempt to calculate. Gut feeling all the way, but if I wanted to know precise numbers, I would use one of those calculators on either the internet or that mobile app.

@@edmis90 Well it's not really even calculation. Since the number are so easy you can see around how much you need just from looking at the market place/Bazar. For example 4 carpenters workshop should be enough carpets for a sultan mosque.

Very nice guide! I have just started with playing Anno 1404 and I was strugeling with efficienty of placing all of production buildings (doing compaign at this moment to learn all aspects I don't know). Everything is taking so much place and looks so ugly in my island :) And you are not just giving puctures (as I saw it in wiki), but also explaining why are you placing this way, how to change something and further pattrons of production buildings. You can use the basic Cider layout with 2 norias and 2 process buildings on the sides (having 3 3x4 fields for each plantation, all 100% except Rose fields (95%))

Milk is my least favourite to produce. The combination of large fields and norias has always given me a feeling of dread that really is out of sync with how easy milk is to actually produce.

from the pure agricultural stuff: yes i agree. though cattle- and pig farms are also not great due to the small area of influence of the farms themselves which does not give much freedom for placing the fields. but what i really hate is the candle-sticks production

Hello there, in regards of building cost and maintenance an oriental market building equals an upgraded occidental market building. those have more transport carts and can therefor support more production facilities but in return cost more. when only building 4 facilities, a cheap occidental market building is more than enough. to make it short: it saves money ;) and welcome to the community!

These tutorials are imencely useful! I just wanred to ask why do you want to have a population of peasants like you mentioned in the T3 occident video? I might have been mistaken thinking that upgrading all the houses to the max would be best.

In Anno 1404 you cannot upgrade all houses, only a certain percentage

carpets are one of the many equivalents. i like siege engines and pearl necklaces even more for this purpose

There's a strange problem with Date plantations. I've used your layout, but I made only 1 row with 3 date plantations and they didn't produce at 100% even though they were in the influence zone of the noria behind the middle plantation.

sorry for the late answer. the norias actually stack in their effect. if you build only one row you have only the base value. building a second noria that overlaps (second row) gives a production bonus untill the farm reaches 100%. long answer short: build the second row or another noria close-by, otherwise it won't work.

depends on your playstyle.goods production consumes money and when your storages are full, production halts but will still cost money. BUT if you trade a lot then you can make up for it. so if you just want to stelle: try to find a balance between production and consumption. if you want to be an active trader and interact a lot with NPCs: Go for it

just don't reject them and build an alm's house. also having more beggars increases the amoung of hosues you are allwoed to upgrade

You would not want to reject them until you have almost 2k of them or 4 full alms houses and by the time you have that you no longer need to worry about them comming back as bandits.

Probably don’t have building rights. Check the icons on the top of the screen next to the island name.... if indigo icon is not there it won’t produce

Not hating but you can support 22 farms with just 6 norias. These layouts aren't as efficient as they can be

I know. But then I would have to replace the water like every 30 seconds which is tiresome. The layout i'm using is easy to replicate and doesn't bother me too much in long-term. That is (at least for me) totally worth the extra gold :P

Then getting as much honour to buy the oriental secret bonus in attainment is very helpful so you can have 2500 water while only refilling them up to 1000 gold as if it's the normal 500 water

You need to buy recommendations letters from the occident trade posts, then bring them to the oriental chief so he grants you with the first oriental templates

too many norias used in this layout its is not very efficient, you simply do not have the money at the start for t1 production in this scenario you have 5k pop

and if you see my let's play series you will see: it still works that early in the game if you scale it properly. also many norias means that you don't need to refill them that often and you can use a light form of the noria exploit. imo the benefits outweigh the issues by far.

you actually have to consider on which island you are building your farms Look at the top of the screen in the video, there you can see which type of farms you can build on an island

seriously, this looks like the most boring city builder/rts/w/e in history. your guide is fine but i don't think i'll ever play it. i don't get the apeal in memorizing the layouts and employing them in every single game
