i did not play the game ever, so excuse me if the following is a dumb question: you enter a world seed whcih i assume you checked out prior to therecording. Isnt the "revealed map" option at 5:11 redundant if you already know the map beforehand?

Revealed Map reduces the difficulty score in the settings so I always put it offline to get more points. Also it would be pretty boring seeing the map and remove the aspect of exploration.

As far as I know the game was always quite well optimized. Make sure you have the latest drivers and you should be set!

Hey Nivarias do the AI still cheat with your current mods ? i noticed all AI cheats even on hard ( challenge is great but can be annoying when the AI has like 20 steam ships in first 3 hours.

Love your Anno series though I have to admit that the military aspect of things is meh to me, I much prefer the focus on building and development and such rather than combat. Not that I'm not going to watch this as I love the way you do things here. So yeah, looking forward to seeing how this starts and develops and what sort of settlements you build.

Well you start on an Island and have survive against three super hard AI opponents and pirates at permanent war. Don't know but that sounds almost like the definition of survival.

@@Nivarias No, Anno series are City-building and Real-Time Strategy based. Survival is more of an open-world with minimal tools, trying to survive by crafting shelters and weapons

That's a rather narrow view of the overall term "survival" - is it not? A city builder can very well be a survival game as well if you ramp up the difficulty far enough.

Do the building space even matter for the AI? Regardless of island space or difficulty there building chains never make any sense anyway and they build stuff they shouldent be able to build. How many times have we not seen the AI use 1 clay pit but they have 6-7 brick factorys.

You can do this! The game is very good at not putting too much pressure on you on medium settings so as long as you've got some harbour protection you should be fine! Never neglect your happiness goods like rum and beer as they boost your economy.
