Every mold that didn't hold up was obviously equally important in reaching the last one. So, no milking, just steps in the proces. Thank you, and all that contributed, for that!👴👌😊

Back in the day there were probably a few failures before they got the whole process right and repeatable. Even then there would be the occasional failure. So don't listen to those that say you are milking it, just sling their comments in the bin and leave them in the trash where they belong. All the best Clarke, see you around (and maybe in person if ever I get to your corner of the USA).

Sweet! Glad to hear you guys were successful! The vid of the first attempt was so far beyond the complexity I would have ever imagined. But, in the end, it all made sense, understood all the steps and most importantly, appreciated you sharing the fail. That was really technical. Best to all your guys and hope they know all the Tally Ho folks really appreciate it because it's all important. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and skills.

Long-standing Tally Ho viewer and supporter here. I can’t tell you how much your videos (along with everyone else who has spent more time than they anticipated on that capstan) have given an appreciation of your profession and craft-and patience! “If at first you don’t succeed” seems to be a theme. Thank you so much for your contribution to Tally Ho. The capstan will be the subject of much discussion and admiration by many by virtue of your experience, skill, and hard work. With much respect to you.

Dabbling at casting bronze bits for my sailboats I have had to re-melt and re-pour more than a few. Thanks for showing the ups and downs of the process, I don't think most people have a good sense of appreciation for just how much "backstory" there is to producing a good pour.

Thanks for the update. Looking forward to seeing the capstan pour and then to seeing the real thing on Tally Ho's deck right here in my town, Port Townsend!

Clark, all of your hard work is very appreciated from this big Tally Ho fan, Since my grandfather was also a pattern maker for the American Locomotive Company in Schenectady NY plus the General Electric Company I can really appreciate the kind of effort and talent which went into the Capstan project. It’s so sad and totally uncalled for seeing someone putting negative comments regarding the carefully crafted workmanship you’ve been doing and it’s so obvious these comments are being made by sidewalk superintendents who’ve absolutely NEVER worked with their own hands before or made any attempt to perform work which required any level of skill. Thanks again for being such an outstanding “mechanic” as my grandfather called a pattern maker or his foundry men !

I've deeply enjoyed these videos! I know it's not as easy as a lot of folks might think it is. Y'all are awesome for greatly helping Leo out. The capstan will be a BEAUTIFUL ADDITION to Tally Ho!! We all thank all of you.

The Liberty Bell was cast three times also. Sounds (unintended pun) like casting is more of an art than a science. But more comparison to the Bell as it was originally cast in England, as was the capstan. Now recast (several times) again in America.
@windyhillfoundry59407 ай бұрын
I always wanted to tour White Chapel Foundry but unfortunately after 400 plus years, they closed the doors a few years ago. Yes, the Liberty Bell along with Big Ben were both cast there. Big Ben also cracked by the way😁

A man who cares about his work and product does whatever he needs to, to get it right. Nothing leaves the shop unless it is perfect...Thank you! I deal with a guy who repaints old lionel trains, he has the same philosophy, So I KNOW, you are not milking a thing. Love your channel!

I appreciate that you show some of the problems and mistakes. A lot of videos on the internet seem perfect. No mistakes or problems. While they might be entertaining to some people they aren’t really very informative. Overcoming problems is where the real learning starts. Keep up the good work !

Super happy that last flask was your winner. I pour heavier pure silver and sure know all about a failed closed pour. When we can see why it failed it is a great bit of satisfaction. I am awaiting a decision from Leo to get me the pattern I need to make a couple 10 ounce medallions for Tally Ho. I am really excited to do them for him. Now we/I exercise that patience thing you know all so well. I am really enjoying the work you are doing here. There is magic hiding there. School every time I sit at my bench.

None of it. True engineering is a learning process. Your channel is honest. I learn more from watching your difficulties than I would watching a start to finish no mistakes version. You can not milk a project any better than Robby Layton did on the Golden Nugget or put in as much work into it to get the perfect result, he and his crew spent 3 months sanding, replacing metal, welding, fabricating and painting that piece of scrap until the final product was requested to be at the SEMA convention. He did it all for the love of one old guy that I would be proud to meat some day. I am sure your end product will be as good to all of us Talley Ho viewers. you have to break a few molds to make a Capstan

KUDOS on doing the Tally Ho Capstan .... ps .... I saw a video of anvils and they showed the difference in the metal quality between Germany and the American one .... sad to say Germany won .... they used a steel ball and the ping and bounce was so evident who won .... really sold me on the workmanship .... watched it on KZbin ....

The people watching these fall into several categories. One is they don’t know how much work filming , editing and producing any video is. So cant understand why you cant “just” produce!. Others realise you have a company that produces things for clients who want them in the time scale you have said. As such making the videos for us is a secondary job.. one job producing work for clients job two filming and setting up all the shots and audio, job three editing and up loading to KZbin. To the ones who think these three jobs can be done in the same 8 working hours as making the items for the clients… Please think HARD. For the ones who appreciate the effort and skills it takes to produce these it’s just wonderful… remember there is no production team .. it’s just normally the two with Dollars help at times. We do not care how long it takes between videos. We appreciate exactly what you do. 1 a week? 1 every 14 days ?1 a month? I and several others do not mind, we love to see them and see how and what you do. Run your company THEN give us what you can without stress strain and effecting your health. Please.

Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam ." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window ? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"

You know, even if you were milking the videos about the capstan, who cares? Plain jealousy if you ask me. If you can make a few bucks, why not? IF you can make money from it. I'm sure there aren't many Tally Ho fans among the complainers. I've enjoyed all the videos about the subject, and most of the other videos as well. Just ignore the haters. Thanks for the entertainment. Greetings from the Netherlands.

Never mind all these fairweather new comers, haters and trolls Clarke, those of us who have been here realize that what you do isn't easy especially when it's a one off of this size. 👍👍 To the douche who said he's "milking it", WHO CARES, I say let him milk it for all it's worth. I mean what do you care it's MORE CONTENT for the channel, so how bout you stfu and enjoy it like the rest of us do.
