Thank you! What an informative video! I just found out about annovera today but I have previously researched the nuvaring. As a 7 year user of a menstrual cup and an environmental science student focused in sustainability, the annovera ring is ideal! I just love how squishy it is and I don't have to worry about throwing anything away for a whole year!

To be honest it’s no different to all other birth controls. Any birth control can cause strokes, heart attacks, blood clots, HBP, etc. At the end of the day it still gets the job done and the chances of those life threatening side effects occurring are low if you’re healthy and use it correctly.

Annovera ring is a bloody nightmare to deal with. It's a giant ass ring which is painful to put in. It's so slippery when it's wet or has any kind of fluid on it that the only way is to pretty much stuff it into you. I have to hold back tears doing it and I have to do it several times a day, or I can't fully empty my bladder and I end up feeling like I have to pee constantly, and it's hard to sleep. I also end up leaking pee all over myself if I change to a certain position. Don't even getting me started trying to poop with it in, that's a nightmare too. Horrible product and the farthest thing from one size fits all that there is.
@xavisxw
@xavisxw 2 жыл бұрын
everyone has such a different vaginal canal & cervix, but I will say the instructions specify to make sure the ring and your hands are completely dry before use. Also bladder related issues might be due to incontinence? Pooping uses the same muscles as your vag muscles so it definitely sounds like it didn't fit.

I know this is old, but it really sounds like the way you inserted it just didn't work with your body. I'm sorry you had such an issue, but calling the product a "bloody nightmare" when it was more than likely user error or even just not something your body specifically could use seems a bit much. I do appreciate being able to see peoples' negative experiences since almost eveywhere I look the experiences are mostly positive.

To put it like you just keep pushing it back, and it should reach that area and pop open sliding up behind the pubic bone. It's possible that you can't do that or really get it in at all, as it's a large ring. I really struggle with getting it in, and it keeps me from being able to pee properly while it's in.

I just switched from the combo pill (I took for 3 weeks then off one) and so far I love this ring! I did have some nausea that went away the first week. My question is if the ring is worn for 3 month’s then out for a week, do you have to compensate for these weeks? Like it’s using hormones during the weeks it “shouldn’t” so does it run out sooner since it would’ve been 12 off weeks and now it’s a total of 4 of weeks. Sorry if I over worded this comment.

From what I understand, yes. It is only FDA approved to take it out every week because doing other patterns affects how long it lasts so it would not last for 13 months anymore if you keep it in during your periods. So you have to keep track of which weeks you kept it in and subtract that from the 13 months

I would prefer the paragard cause its hormone free or just getting a diaphragm if it's still possible, but right now my husband and I use condoms every single time and I track and avoid sex on ovulation days, but I know hormonal BC is more effective cause it does more to prevent pregnancy rather than just killing sperm it prevents ovulation and fertilization, so I might go with annovera cause it's cheaper, and lasts a year and its non invasive.

No... You only need one ring. It lasts for 13 months. The price is like that because it is new and a generic ring has not come in to replace it. Unfortunate, but most people who do have insurance (which you can get decent cheap insurance through the marketplace going as low as $0/mo depending on your tax bracket and all that) pay $0. On a discount card it may be kind of expensive as well, but once a generic version comes out the price of that generic will decrease dramatically.
