I just read an article about the results of the NYS public schools Math & ELA tests for grades 3-8 from the 2022-2023 school year. Low proficiency across several grade levels.

Thank you so much for this information. I have a question, what if i did not include that i will be the one to administer the assessment test to my child. What would be the next steps for me?

That is okay. Did you write a statement to your district that stated which test your child would be taking? As long as you had the name of the test you are within the regulations.

Will your daughter be 6 years old by Dec 1st? State law “Parents must comply with the homeschool laws starting in the school year in which they turn 6 on or before December 1.” So if she WILL be age 6 by then, you should start reporting to the district in which you reside. For families who live in New York City (within Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, or Staten Island), this notice, and all homeschooling correspondence, should instead be submitted to the New York City Department of Education’s Office of Home Schooling. I hope this helps!
