Honestly I think every character can be viable. The lower 6 you just need to put way more effort into than the top 6

@@hezmo940 Nah. Around half of the cast is viable. 7 characters have already won really big tournaments on their own, and 4 others have fantastic wins and perfomances against top players.

@@scotterboi9 So only top tiers win in melee. It is the opposite of 64. Low tiers in melee will NEVER compare to the top tiers whatsoever. Kinda tired of people trying to portray melee as balanced when it’s only balanced for its top characters.

I haven't played in a long time, but personally Luigi is the only character in the game that _feels_ bad. Everyone else at least feels like they have a little bit of sauce, but Luigi is just so clunky and relies a lot on your opponent messing up. He feels very restrictive to play.

I'm mostly okay with this list and while I do agree pretty much everything that you said about Fox I still see Fox probably without question at least number four. Cuz in my opinion Fox might be one of the hardest characters to master and play in general and a good Fox player can avoid situations that put them in a bad predicament. But as long as he's at top six that's good enough for me. So my respect to you for this list

DK is way higher, he has some strengths and he is better than link for sure

Nah, that’s cap DK recovery isn’t that good & he’s a little slow.However he might have good offense but he’s definitely not better than Link. Link has a grapple hook which is op & he can deploy bombs. Sure you have to get close to the other characters but again his grappling hook gives him an advantage. He’s definitely not the worst. & yes I have the game.

Well atleast some characters have postitives like luigi His recovery is good He has a good combo game His attacks have low lag and suprisingly long range i mean his foward smash attack He has can do a zero to death

Link is terrible until you play someone who really knows link. I suck with him but my buddy wrecks me with him. I am yoshi and fox and know djc short hops etc. What I've learned is you can be good with anyone if your good at spacing and unpredictability.

My experience as a child and teenager who avidly whooped all my friends asses at this game would put link and DK much higher than Samus or Mario. Link has great keep away and his sword have great range while DK can ko people very easily with his grab or smashes. The rest of the tier list asides from yoshi being high tier is unsurprising

I kinda say puff is mid or low mid teir or just low teir She's the lightest character/poor survival Her attacks are short range and most are weak with below average knockback. She can be comboed Her 3 jumps is below average and her 4th, 5th and 6th barely give and distance, pound is a terrible recovery move plus can be exploitable, low defence options besides sing. Sing is usless over 60 percent and 60 percent. She get outclassed by kirby. Struggles high teir characters, sings and rest will kill you offstage, rest has a long duration so puff is exposed and Her approach is outclassed and having probably tied for the worst grab range and pikachu has a millimeter more range.

Never played Smash 64 competitively, but Luigi's mid tier, right? 39:28 - Luigi by 3 to 1 margin is worst in the game. Oh. OK then

He just has a sick punish game. Because it's so good too it's pretty common for people who don't play the game to think he's better than that. I rarely see Luigi at 10th by 64 players but I don't believe he's the worst

@@Pokehero I don't think he's the worst either. He has a very good recovery that can be hard to punish at times. Personally, I think he's slightly better than Mario, but still falls in the low-tier category.

Luigi is pretty much a worse clone of Mario. Yes his recovery reaches good distance but it’s really predictable and his traction is slower than Mario. Definitely not the worst because he still has mario’s combo game and edge guarding skills, but pretty mediocre overall.

Oh yeah and not to mention they completely butchered his dash attack
