When me and my cousins were little we put our grandparents big tortoise on a bodyboard in the pool, we looked away for a moment and next thing we know he walked too close to the edge and it tipped over. He almost hit the bottom but then slowly floated back up and managed to keep his head above water floating right side up as we rushed to get him out while he was trying to get to the edge of pool dog-paddling. That was very lucky, specially because it was a pool that had a deep and a shallow end and he wasn't on the shallow end when he dove so there was enough room to not hit the bottom; we never tried it again. Do not try this at home, I dunno the specific species of tortoise, and for all we know he was lucky to be a little gassy at time or something and would've sunk like rock if it had happened some other time.
