I'm back after skipping a week to focus on college and spend an afternoon breathing outside air. Did you know there's a flaming ball of gas in the sky? Anyway, back to music stuff. I was really surprised when I heard this song was not just covered by Eve but also made by Eve. Hiding multiple talents like that is so unfair when I can barely do this stuff. Well, I'm glad for him nonetheless. I'm also absolutely in love this this PV as you can guess and actually had to look up the creator because I was just so like "omg whO IS THIS GODLIKE ANIMATOR??". Turns out they work in the anime industry and are making their own short on Kickstarter titled Mecha Ude. If it's anywhere close to how beautiful this is, it'll be amazing! Ok I’ll wrap it up now, I hope people come to love this song and video as much as they deserve. uwu

Okay! So this is what I'm getting from this song and video. (I'm bored and have time on my hands xD ) The boy has a huge thing for collecting these bears and pretty much has all of them except the golden unicorn bear. One day he meets the girl, sees that she has the bear he wants and immediately feels like getting it from her may be the only way to attain it. So then he feels a need to get to know her to see if maybe he could ever ask her for it, but he also feels like that may never work since he's too scared, but then later another day comes and he sees her again and feels maybe it's fate that he finally gather the courage to ask. Only that attempt fails as well and he almost loses hope. His hope is regained again after he thinks of how much he and the bear need to be together. (metaphorically portrayed by the bear getting him out of bed and comforting him by the shore) He then makes another attempt by asking her to hang out, only, then he starts seeing that she's actually a really nice girl. Which then makes him feel as if the bear is completely off limits to him since he would feel bad asking for it now. He tries to rationalize to himself that she's just nice to everyone and always smiling so it shouldn't be a problem if he asks, but even still he cant bring himself to do it because he's too nice. Finally he feels absolutely sure that he should give up, until he sees her throw the very bear he's wanted so bad into the (river/lake? ) At that moment he springs into action, finally seeing his chance. he jumps into the lake and rescues the bear, achieving his goal! So yeah I just think this poor boy was in love with the bear all this time, he went through so much for it.... xD

My interpretation of the story, because I think I saw it different from a lot of the other comments. The boy really likes this girl. And he sees she likes these gachapan bears, so he decided to use them to get with her. He buys a ton of the things and then using them as a starting point ends up getting a date with her. It goes well, but he realizes she cares more about the bears than she does him. These bears are symbolic for his struggle in this relationship. At first, they are helping him, and pushing him into conversation, making things easier. But after a while he realizes they’re making it harder. Hence them holding him back and tying him up. At the end, when she throws one away, he realizes. She cares more about these bears than him. And she doesn’t even care about them as much as he’s grown to care about them. This is why in the end, he chooses to keep the bears in his life and drop her.

My interpretation: A girl catches the eye of our protagonist (P). In the beginning of the song, they work with their friends (the tiny bears) and their best friend (the big orange bear, B.O.B.) to arrange for our P to meet up with this girl. In a scenario that looks to be fate, the two meet at a crosswalk, along with BOB. Later, we see the two exchanging contacts, with P's friends celebrating their interaction. This short lived victory ends in the girl asking for P's best friend, BOB's contact info. P realizes the one-sided love between them, as suddenly BOB and the girl get together. With lingering feelings, P disapproves of having their best friend make off with their target; however, P's friends force them to back off from the situation, now being seen as the purple skull bears holding P back. Some friends do try to defend P (smol hero bears), only to be shot down by the ones who oppose of P's decision to not lose both their crush and best friend. Alone and battered emotionally, P seeks refuge by the river, only to witness the reality of their crush. The girl has been known to toy with a new person for a little and toss them away like a broken toy when she has had her fill. P watches as BOB takes a plunge, and in that second, realizing a new goal. P runs to BOB's side, realizing ("I don't know if this is what love is like," only appears when chasing (swimming?) after BOB) their true love, their best friend. I interpreted this conclusion because every time P is in the "stair/step mindscape," it's because they are seeking love. First from the girl and the second time from the girl as well, despite being with BOB. TL;DR: Protagonist has a one-sided love with a girl, that turns into actual, wholehearted love for their best friend.

The bears in the shop are the boys she picks out for herself, the ropes represent her leading them all on, she ends up meeting the boy and the orange bear through the boy, and the orange bear represents the boy's best friend, she really likes the best friend and goes out with him but after a while, she gets bored/tired of him and throws him away. The boy jumping into the river to save the bear is representation of the boy going to his best friend after the break up and being there for him or in other words, "saving" him from the river which is "loneliness"

my theory is that the bears represent a common interest. in the beginning the guy is really into these bear collectibles and gets excited when he meets someone who's also into collecting them. he falls for her, and wants to get closer to her. their shared interest is what encourages him to approach her, and even comforts him when he's upset (the fact that at least they have one thing in common gives him hope). but slowly he realizes that the girl is more into talking about their shared interest than talking to him specifically, and comes to the conclusion that the bears are becoming a hindrance. he tries to prove himself interesting in his own right, but the bears make it difficult for other conversation to take place. eventually, instead of getting down on himself by thinking "she likes the bears more than me," he thinks "I have to keep trying and use this interest as a springboard into other topics." however, by the time he regains his confidence, the girl has already lost interest in the collectibles and the guy realized that his feelings for the girl had messed with his ability to enjoy something he loved. after he experiences a rapid recollection of his attachment to both the girl and the bears, he chooses to go back to the bears.

My theory: The guy had an unrequited crush on the woman and so tried to surround himself with all of the things it appeared that she loved, and put her on some magical perfect person pedestal, like people with crushes sometimes do. But, because he doesn't really know her or her circumstances/ he might be a bit delusional/ he mistakes things that make her happy for things that are actually making her sad. Thus the last scene where she threw away the cute smol star bear was actually a suicide attempt, on her part, which caused him to realize that she was a "real person" and not some unrelatable magic happy person. In the end he saves her from her suicide attempt and the final shots where of all of those locations he associated with her happiness being seen from the woman's point of view: empty and lonely although bright and happy seeming.

I have a couple theories of my own as well, this one lines up with one in the beginning I believe it says “she remembers me but I’m not here there or anywhere” . If she did have a suicide attempt at the end and he saved her he may have died in the act of saving her.

MY THEORY Since the song is called "Her Secret" I'm guessing that her secret is that she collects all of these bears. He has a crush on her so he buys bears for her. At 1:20 when the bears are throwing paper airplanes, that is him giving her the bears. When they explode away that is her seeing them as simple trinkets and not seeing him as anything more then someone who gave her some little gifts. OR this could mean that he tells her that he likes her but either she doesn't like him back or sees him as just a friend. At 1:50, the girl and him are becoming friends (hence them texting eachother) At 2:05, the bear is to represent ether another boy OR that the gifts are betraying him in a way as it's making him get friend-zoned. The line "But I'm too nice, I couldn't do it after anything" is that he couldn't tell her that he's in love with her. The lyrics are all pretty much self-explanatory throughout the song. Now, the ending when she throws the bear and he gets it back could mean several things. Either, simply she is over that bear-collecting faze but he needs to show her that there was a reason why he got them for her. But, I don't think that's true. Now, what could possibly be it is that he's saving their friendship. Or, he's saving the possibility of him telling her that he loves her? OR, she's throwing their friendship away and he's saving it. I don't know, The ending is the hardest to decipher. Also, I forgot to mention it at the beginning but the bears also represent a part of him telling himself to tell her and its giving him confidence to do so. Anyway, tell me what you guys think! In the original Japanese, in the main bit he refers to the bears as "mikata" meaning friend, ally, supporter, etc. So I feel the bears represent the people on his side (and later the ones against him). one of these bears end up dating the girl, the same orange one that consoled him when he was upset. Eventually, the girl throws out the bear after wearing it out and damaging it. The main guy at this point realizes that the girl is not as important to him as the guy who supported him so far, and he goes to pick him up out of the river.

How I interpreted this song. So the guy is kinda like an otaku and has all these little bear things that he keeps even though he is a teen and these things were designed for little girls. Over time though he begins to like this girl who he thinks likes these cute bear toys as well. And when he sees she that she is letting go of these kiddy toys he goes and tries to save them showing his love for these toys instead of the girl. Feel free to disagree with me. James Phillips I agree with all except the last part I'm not sure on. That's what I figured first, but if you pay attention to the last few scenes it shows the shop empty and neither of them are at the machines. I think it might be showing that the toys were an important bridge to them coming together, and a common ground, and the reason he saved the bear was due to the fact it was a memento of their relationship. So to sum it up he ended up with the girl and not obsessing over the toys. I feel this is a strong message for a lot of people who grew out of the weeb culture a bit, but still have powerful human connections forged from it.

So, personal interpretation: he and his friend like the same girl. He asks the girl out and she rejects him. His friend helps him pick up the pieces. But then it turns out the girl likes his friend and the two start dating. While they're in a relationship, she tells the protagonist that she actually likes him. Despite his feelings, he doesn't act on that, for his friend. In the end, the girl dumps his friend, and rather than taking the opportunity, he helps his friend instead.

My theory: The boy really likes the girl and at one point even gave her that little yellow bear she has. He has so much trouble telling her that he likes her but when he finally has time to spend with her, she confesses that she likes him. He gets choked up and can't tell her that he likes her too and thus she takes the golden bear and throws it into the river. The boy tries to locate the bear within the river to try and fix things and tell her how he really feels.

Kitty Voss my theory is a bit odd I know. He originally loves the girl and is friends with a person who eventually ends up dating her.(symbolized by the bear) In the end she breaks up with them and the main character realizes that he has feelings for the bear and asks them out. The end~

I think him diving to get the keychain is more meant to show he wants to hold onto the memories of their relationship. The song makes it clear that they weren't as compatible as the main character hoped, but that doesn't mean that they were completely miserable together. And with the end, I see two things. Both the characters want to move on, at least as I saw, but she wanted to forget, symbolized by throwing away the keychain, while he wants to remember everything their relationship was, hence him going for it not her. He doesn't want to get back together, but he doesn't want to forget either.

My theory is that the orange bear is the dudes best friend. When the girl friendzoned the dude the friend helped him feel better. The friend eventually dated the girl. The dude didn't give up yet but once he saw the girl breaking up with his friend, the dude goes to help his friend out and forgives him cuz he values their friendship more then the girl. The dude's love for the girl dies out when he saw how she treated his friend

Weird twist, but imagine the guy is just in love with the Orange bear, and the only reason why he was trying to get to the girl was to get to the orange bear. The bears are represented by the main characters friends to push him to confess to his crush. The orange bear is the mains characters best friends was the most important one push to get him to confess, but then the orange bear instead got the girl now all of the other bears were supporters the orange bear instead of the main. I think they were both using their love for the bears as a way to connect, but never truly got to learn more about eachother, bubt both had falling for eachother. So, the girl took the first real step, as he had been too afraid to do so, and tossed her favorite that he had given her out into the river in an attempt to show him she loved him more. He saved the bear to show her he loved her too, as he knew she cared deeply for it.
