The bears in the shop are the boys she picks out for herself, the ropes represent her leading them all on, she ends up meeting the boy and the orange bear through the boy, and the orange bear represents the boy's best friend, she really likes the best friend and goes out with him but after a while, she gets bored/tired of him and throws him away. The boy jumping into the river to save the bear is representation of the boy going to his best friend after the break up and being there for him or in other words, "saving" him from the river which is "loneliness"

my theory is that the bears represent a common interest. in the beginning the guy is really into these bear collectibles and gets excited when he meets someone who's also into collecting them. he falls for her, and wants to get closer to her. their shared interest is what encourages him to approach her, and even comforts him when he's upset (the fact that at least they have one thing in common gives him hope). but slowly he realizes that the girl is more into talking about their shared interest than talking to him specifically, and comes to the conclusion that the bears are becoming a hindrance. he tries to prove himself interesting in his own right, but the bears make it difficult for other conversation to take place. eventually, instead of getting down on himself by thinking "she likes the bears more than me," he thinks "I have to keep trying and use this interest as a springboard into other topics." however, by the time he regains his confidence, the girl has already lost interest in the collectibles and the guy realized that his feelings for the girl had messed with his ability to enjoy something he loved. after he experiences a rapid recollection of his attachment to both the girl and the bears, he chooses to go back to the bears.

MY THEORY Since the song is called "Her Secret" I'm guessing that her secret is that she collects all of these bears. He has a crush on her so he buys bears for her. At 1:20 when the bears are throwing paper airplanes, that is him giving her the bears. When they explode away that is her seeing them as simple trinkets and not seeing him as anything more then someone who gave her some little gifts. OR this could mean that he tells her that he likes her but either she doesn't like him back or sees him as just a friend. At 1:50, the girl and him are becoming friends (hence them texting eachother) At 2:05, the bear is to represent ether another boy OR that the gifts are betraying him in a way as it's making him get friend-zoned. The line "But I'm too nice, I couldn't do it after anything" is that he couldn't tell her that he's in love with her. The lyrics are all pretty much self-explanatory throughout the song. Now, the ending when she throws the bear and he gets it back could mean several things. Either, simply she is over that bear-collecting faze but he needs to show her that there was a reason why he got them for her. But, I don't think that's true. Now, what could possibly be it is that he's saving their friendship. Or, he's saving the possibility of him telling her that he loves her? OR, she's throwing their friendship away and he's saving it. I don't know, The ending is the hardest to decipher. Also, I forgot to mention it at the beginning but the bears also represent a part of him telling himself to tell her and its giving him confidence to do so. Anyway, tell me what you guys think! Comment what you think the ending means.

In the original Japanese, in the main bit he refers to the bears as "mikata" meaning friend, ally, supporter, etc. So I feel the bears represent the people on his side (and later the ones against him). one of these bears end up dating the girl, the same orange one that consoled him when he was upset. Eventually, the girl throws out the bear after wearing it out and damaging it. The main guy at this point realizes that the girl is not as important to him as the guy who supported him so far, and he goes to pick him up out of the river.

I think they were both using their love for the bears as a way to connect, but never truly got to learn more about eachother, bubt both had falling for eachother. So, the girl took the first real step, as he had been too afraid to do so, and tossed her favorite that he had given her out into the river in an attempt to show him she loved him more. He saved the bear to show her he loved her too, as he knew she cared deeply for it.

My theory: The boy really likes the girl and at one point even gave her that little yellow bear she has. He has so much trouble telling her that he likes her but when he finally has time to spend with her, she confesses that she likes him. He gets choked up and can't tell her that he likes her too and thus she takes the golden bear and throws it into the river. My theory: The guy had an unrequited crush on the woman and so tried to surround himself with all of the things it appeared that she loved, and put her on some magical perfect person pedestal, like people with crushes sometimes do. But, because he doesn't really know her or her circumstances/ he might be a bit delusional/ he mistakes things that make her happy for things that are actually making her sad. Thus the last scene where she threw away the cute smol star bear was actually a suicide attempt, on her part, which caused him to realize that she was a "real person" and not some unrelatable magic happy person. In the end he saves her from her suicide attempt and the final shots where of all of those locations he associated with her happiness being seen from the woman's point of view: empty and lonely although bright and happy seeming.

Weird twist, but imagine the guy is just in love with the Orange bear, and the only reason why he was trying to get to the girl was to get to the orange bear. So when the girl threw the bear away he was like "yo this is my chance!" and gets the bear to be his (finally) lmao. That's why he kept buying those bears at the shop so he could win the orange bear by chance - but nope. The only girl who had it was the girl he kept running into.

so the songs name is "her secret" aka the bear collecting. that's why there's so many bears. I think they collect em together and then he's like oml I love this girl then she moves on from the hobby and tosses the orange one. probably a super rare (or his favorite) and he dives in there and chooses the bears over her

I'm kinda late to this, but I have seen many theories in this comment section, but none of them are quite right imo, so here is one that I copy/pasted from the original video's comment section that i personally think is the best one. This was originally written by 헬묘. At 0:10, the girl is looking at the gacha machine and pointing at something. This is her choosing someone that she would like to date or flirt. If you have watched the whole mv, you can assume that the person she has chosen is the orange bear that appears at 1:02. After that, the boy uses the gacha machine to choose someone who he can trust to help him with his love. So, I’m sure that a person would not ask for help to strangers for their love and this means gacha machine represents the list of his friends. Also, this supports the statement that the girl was looking at the orange bear since the orange bear was in the boy’s friend list. At 0:28, the girl has 3 bear accessories, and this is assumed to be her boyfriend list. As the orange one is all rusty and old, she tries to replace it with a new one. She gets close to the boy because she wants to get close to the orange bear. Even the boy knows this. You can know it by the lyrics. However, this might sound weird if you have used the english subtitle, because somehow the english subtitle gives you different meaning from the original meaning. The subtitle says “Surely, I remember, remember I had that special thing, like nothing else”, however, originally or in more exact translation, it says “To think of, think of it, I’m sure that there was nothing about me.” Yeah, so he knows that she had came close to him just because of the orange bear. If she was talking in the scene, she would be saying like “You’re (orange bear)’s friend right?” lol. The secret of the girl at 0:33 is that she is interested in orange bear. From 0:37 to 0:51 is about the boy being timid and how he can’t confess his love. Yep, just as the lyric says. The boy is going home with his friends at 0:52, and coincidentally sees the girl. This causes the orange bear to notice that the boy loves the girl, and becomes his helper as now he is out of the gacha machine(1:03). The boy tries to call the girl because he believed that in wasn’t just a “coincidence”, he’s friend helps him too, however, the girl just went past(lollllllllllllll). Then he gets comforted by the orange bear. Btw, assuming of his size, the orange bear is his best friend. At 1:33, the girl is looking at the orange bear, so it is sure that she’s clearly more interested to orange bear than the boy. You can know that it was the girl by the phone case. They exchange their line(a messenger app that is famous in japan) account. The Cupid in the lyric, “The birth of Cupid, Cupid of love” is the boy. The girl wanted to get close the orange bear, so she asked the boy for the orange bear’s line account. Even though the boy’s friends cheered for him(1:40/btw if you look closely, you can see the orange bear too lolll), the boy screwed up and gives the orange bear’s line account(1:46). The girl gets happy and gets close to the orange bear. So the boy is 100% GAME OVER now since she has became a girlfriend of his friend(2:00). However, he does not gives up(2:05), and goes to confess to her. He chooses more people to help him, but the orange bear’s friends(2:09/the ones with skulls on their tummy) tried to stop him. The boy’s friend tries to help him(2:22), however, they were useless ;). So he finally gives up and says that he will become a bubble and fade away(2:32) just like the mermaid from the little mermaid(btw I can see that the english translation of this song gives quite different meaning with the original lyrics). And he saw the girl smiling after dumping the orange bear(3:00) after using him and the boy notices the true nature of her (the flirty side). The boy now goes to comfort the orange bear(3:02). The orange bear says, “If this is what is called love, I wish I had known sooner.” The boy answers, “Don’t say something that doesn’t suit you. You will become a bubble and fade away.” (3:20) Now the orange bear and the boy are friends again! (3:35)

How I interpreted this song. So the guy is kinda like an otaku and has all these little bear things that he keeps even though he is a teen and these things were designed for little girls. Over time though he begins to like this girl who he thinks likes these cute bear toys as well. And when he sees she that she is letting go of these kiddy toys he goes and tries to save them showing his love for these toys instead of the girl. Feel free to disagree with me. James Phillips I agree with all except the last part I'm not sure on. That's what I figured first, but if you pay attention to the last few scenes it shows the shop empty and neither of them are at the machines. I think it might be showing that the toys were an important bridge to them coming together, and a common ground, and the reason he saved the bear was due to the fact it was a memento of their relationship. So to sum it up he ended up with the girl and not obsessing over the toys. I feel this is a strong message for a lot of people who grew out of the weeb culture a bit, but still have powerful human connections forged from it.

My interpretation just revolves around my inability to confess when I really want to. Even though I want to reach out to someone I love from the distance I've kept, I know my isolation means they don't know who I am, making rejection certain, when in reality, (one I can't see) there are other ways around it to move towards my goal. So despite all the chances and opportunities I condemn myself to an eternity of dreaming over something that could be in my reach, but i'm too reluctant to try properly in fear of moving outside my comfort zone. That's just me though, everyone works out their own. Although as previously mentioned in the song "I'm barely here there or anywhere" so whatever I say is just spur of the moment gibberish. I'm truly overthinking everything but I hope you find your meaning, you're probably too sane to lose your head over stuff like emotions xD
