The used dubbing because in japanese theres word ダビング, which is a loan word from english dubbing, but it only really refers to dubbing as in copying recorded media, not dubbed media. They intentionally made the script a little wrong so that the “contestant” could make the mix up about piracy and it would make for a funny situation. It’s just an unserious comedy show after all

He chose to say "dubbing" to go easy on them, had he say "dubbed", half wouldn't even register. It's just one sound block. It's really common that we choose words that is easily identifiable, rather than what is usually used when speaking to non native. Stop wasting me time

They are given script understood by Japanese, I believe "Is that ok?" I think the Japanese might get confused by "that" and started wondering what "that" means But if you said "is dubbing okay"? They hear the word "dubbing" and "okay" so they know that the person is asking if dubbing is okay to them I'm explaining from the view point of someone who has learnt foreign languages. When i can't understand what the sentence means, I reconstruct it based on the limited words I can understand

Not trying to stir the war, but you see, even japanese want subs than dubs. Native audio is the better choice to captivate the natural experience, and just let subtitles do the translation for you. I would think that international movies starring foreigners would also sound weird being in their language japanese. 😅

Nobody says dubbing. It’s meant to test the person’s knowledge of the word DUB. Since it’s not even a common word used in English speaking countries, it can be rather hard for these people it will throw them off
