I can say this is so true with baptism. I’m a completely different person. I accepted Jesus prior and repented for my sins. My life going forward was a completely change. I hunger for God word daily, and I strive to walk straight with Christ. I thank the Lord who forgave me for my past, and pray each day how thankful I am for it.

Amen. Excellent❣️There are those who condemn others who live in the unity of the Spirit with Christians whose doctrines are not identical. These self appointed Sanhedrin judge them as apostate. Francis Chan made these similar comments as Pawson’s ,and he was condemned by this modern version of the religious court which condemned our Lord. When people ask me what I believe,I tell them I am Bapti-costal. I do not hold with the extremes of either the evangelical or the Pentecostal . Many Pentecostals worship experiences to the point of being ensnared by occultism practices, and condemning people who have handicaps and health problems. They usually do not read the scriptures and are open to false teachings. Evangelicals often become legalistic to the point of hindering the Holy Spirit. No one of us has got it all together, but together we have received all.

Much as I respect David Pawson and listen to many of his teachings, I disagree here. I don't believe Jesus did things without accomplishing what He said. He said "receive the Holy Spirit"...so why put an interpretation there to say nothing happened, that it was a rehearsal. Where did we get that? The Baptism of the Holy Spirit was different event. They got saved, but the power promised them was yet to come.

I get where you are coming from....Having researched John 20:22.....I believe what David Pawson was saying lines up....It was more about giving the disciples an orientation to the Holyspirit...there was nothing literal that happened when Jesus said that....I see you are trying to separate Christ saying receive the Holy spirit and the actual event..But think this through...Christ had promised the Holy spirt previously and also Joel also spoke of this...that there would be a physical manifestation when the holy spirit comes upon one..there is no how they received anything without the physical manifestation....So,indeed ,David is right..they were being prepared thats all that was happening there..If they really in a literal sense received the Holy spirit then...there would have been a literal physical manifestion....Act 1:1-21.....In Summary , you cant separate receive the Holyspirit from its action that follows ..which is a physical manifestation...as we see happened on the day of Pentecost.....Technically this was a prophetic declaration by Jesus for them to receive.Some Argue that something may have happened in the Spirit realm..Like the Holyspirit sealing them...I cant say this is true which I think is the point you are driving home....But this is just my own perspective..Hope this helps.Bless you.

The simple answer is that, in John 20:22, the verb 'receive' is the aorist imperative form of λαμβάνω (lambanó), meaning 'to take, acqiire', etc. It's the same verb Jesus used at the Last Supper when telling the disciples to "take" the bread. In John 20:22, therefore, Jesus wasn't bestowing something on the disciples. Rather, He was commanding them to actively seek the Holy Spirit - which is what they were doing at Pentecost.

It's not too late to be baptised in Jesus name. I got baptised properly last year after doing a Bible study on baptism and after reading Acts 19:1-6. We have to do things God's way, not our way or according to church tradition. I thank God for opening my eyes to what His Word says.

When the Disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray - HE said when you pray say ''Our Father who are in Heaven.....'' At the end of Acts 1 it states that ''they all went upstairs to the room where they were staying '' and specifically mentions Mary the mother of Jesus and his brothers Acts Chapter 2 starts by stating that ''they were all together in one place''. and goes on to say ''All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other tongues''......I believe it is reasonable to believe that Mary was one of those present - ''all of them '' - all of whom ? - those named in Acts Chapter 1 :13-14?

People were filled by the Spirit in the Old Testament. Exodus 31:3 NASB I have filled him with the Spirit of God in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all kinds of craftsmanship, Micah 3:8 NASB On the other hand I am filled with power- With the Spirit of the LORD- And with justice and courage To make known to Jacob his rebellious act, Even to Israel his sin. Every prophet in the O.T. was filled with the Spirit. A man speaks from the abundance of his heart, which means that a man cannot speak the Word of the Lord without it coming from within the heart. When David prophesied the Psalms it came from within his heart and then out of his mouth.
