Remember 2007 cricket world cup, India kicked out of stage tournament after got defeated from Bangladesh. We got angry, we started asking similar kind of questions, like why we should support, why we should watch them. But later T20 happened and we forgot everything. So it's absolutely okay to be disappointed but don't lose the hope. The only thing I'm not able to understand is we're giving so much love to football even though our football team is no where in top 100. From where this unconditional love is coming?

@@detectivesroy win loss is part of every game. But our team can beat newzealand anyday. It was just a bad day. Indian Hockey team is currently very good. It just lacks psychologcal fitness needed to execute final moments properly, particularly the forward line. But over they have also improved the deficienct psychological aspect significantly in recent times. If it just improves by 50%, team india will bring golden days back. After the introduction of astroturf too Pakistan has performed quite well at world stage till 7-8 years ago. Astroturf was hardly a problem of team india, it was and is just simple lack of enough practice on these turfs. I think government of Odisha should open commercial wing of this sport to increase revenue and make this board powerful like BCCI. For this they should first think it to popularise it at national level, like Pro Kabaddi league has succeeded to some extent.

Yes we lost, but I found a lot of people talking about what went wrong, how confidence is the key, and the strategies and how one mid fielder's absence could crumble the entire structure of the team's defense. These discussions were never before heard in online platforms, surely the interest has risen up, and there are hockey behemoth nations like AUS and NZ who have dedicated players and coaches for the last 50 years, so India is well behind in training, strategies, and infrastructure. It would be such a thrill ride to witness such a nation win, and if they dominate, it would be mind blowing. Now we need to support our players, but consecutive losses will dampen this rise in interest, so winning is a must for Indian Hockey Team for them to get more sponsors. The India vs NZ match was interesting none the less.

To make hockey popular in India, we need a good domestic league like IPL or EPL. There should be around 16 teams from all regions of India representing the states. Divison leagues i.e its juniors should also be made like Ranji Trophy . This will develop professional hockey.

Indian Hockey needs a face, build a brand so that more influential people followed by others try to associate themselves with the game. Bhai ! Indian Football pe bhi thoda kuch boliye. Hockey aur Cricket se jyada important Football hey . Kyunki FIFA mein her continent se bade aur powerful teams khelte hein. FIFA World Cup is the real world cup . It's not like ICC Cricket World Cup jahan pe sirf ginti ke sirf 10-15 desh hi khelte hein aur wo bhi sare ke sare uncivilized , garib , underdeveloped , not so influential countries (except India , England , New Zealand , South Africa & Australia) . Indian Cricket has not only overshadowed Indian Hockey it has also overshadowed Indian Football as well . 😒😒😒😒

I became a fan of this beautiful game after seeing the skills of legendary dribbler Late Muhammed Shahid. Skills of Dhanraj Pillai cemented that love. The info that you shared is something new and I haven't heard about this from any other place. I personally felt that Astro turf was not the reason of our downfall because pakistan who share similar conditions as india were able to dominate the game till 90s. A strong and cohesive team can be only send by a cohesive administration. Now it made sense. The power politics diluted our team. After the Beijing and London olympics disasters the team had started to show progress. Let's hope that this momentum continues and our good old times will come again. I personally feel that government of Orissa and naveen patnaik ji is doing a very good job for the revival of Indian hockey.

So true, Our failure in a certain field is always put up on public support. The sports bodies don't follow proper scouting system, no proper budget, no training, huge corruption of money at last in order to save their seats they say that public ain't supporting us. 🙃🙃
