One of my "life moments" was watching Get Some In with mum & dad, at least I'm 90% certain it was this. I heard probably the funniest thing I'd ever heard in my 12 years of life and literally creased up with the giggles... "What was that they gave us when we came in? Bubble & squeak. I asked what it was, not what it did to us". Loved that series.

Great stuff on your KZbin channel. In the 1970's into the early 1980's here in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada there were many UK sitcoms shown on the CBC & KVOS Bellingham. Yes, the American TV station in Bellingham, Washington showed TV comedies from Ol' Blighty. KVOS had more viewers in Canada than the U.S.. Anyway, I found it interesting to find out about UK TV series you've shown, that were never broadcast here. I do remember seeing an episode of " Welcome Back Mrs. Noah " when I visited England. I was staying in Battersea, London, when I saw an episode of Molly Sudgen in space. We were howling with laughter at how goofy the show was.

Just a tip, some of these series (now unavailable) are available on "tit borrents".... (just change the first "t" and first "b" around). It's fascinating (well for me at least) that you're charting the points at which I started to become aware of TV and the chronology of my earliest TV memories....Some of my earliest TV memories are Catweazel, The Double Deckers, the opening of "A Family at War" with Vaughn-Williams' mournful opening taking me RIGHT back to early childhood, and also the 60s US soap "Peyton Place" which my nan who lived with us never missed, So I probably was told to keep quiet while she watched it. I suppose along with everyone else a lot of things passed me by because they were for an older audience, (I was born in 1966), and we were all also prey to the tastes of our parents, who might not have liked some of the programs so we kids never saw them as most people I knew only had 1 TV set in their house (though one or two of our older neighbours had NONE), or simply for the fact that we spent more time outside playing in the street or park. "Romany Jones" (1972) I do have the vaguest of memories of it. "Yus my Dear" (1976) I remember more. As a young lad I found Arthur Mulland a mixture of slightly disturbing, but also mildly amusing. "Edgar Briggs" (1974) COMPLETELY passed me by. "Please sir" and "the Fenn St Gang" are things I do recall. "His Lordship Entertains" (1972) COMPLETELY passed me by. "My Old Man" (1974) COMPLETELY passed me by. Maggie and Her (1976) for me shows a change between the style of 1960s/early 70s TV and a more "modern" format with a style and general presentation that lasted into the 80s. (plus I always liked Irene Handl... as a kid she always seemed like a lovable grandma, but as an adult you see she certainly had a "sparkle" in her eye and was definitely a bit of a "fruity ol' bird"!!) "You're only young twice" (1978) Is when I really start remembering TV.Peggy Mount used to remind me of a battleaxe of a great Aunt I used to have (but Peggy herself was probably a lovely woman) but I did (and still do) think lovely Pat Coombes was a wonderful gentle soul who is sadly missed (you wouldn't think I grew up on a fairly tough Liverpool council estate, would you?) 😆 "Come Back Mrs Noah" & "Room Service" Are from a period where I feel I would have remembered them clearly, but someone in our house (probably dad) must have really disliked them because they're things I've never even heard of until your video Stu. Although by this point in time we did spend a LOT of time outdoors. "Get Some In" was a favourite, (and slightly sad to say I can still remember the ENTIRE theme song 🥴)... I mustn't have taken too much notice of Cpl Marsh's antics though because 7 years later I ended up joining the RAF. Around the same time was one of my all time favourite progs "Danger UXB". "My Wife Next Door" slips into the category of "completely passed me by". Strangely enough I was going to cite "Stig of the dump" as an early 1970s TV memory, but looking it up now I find it was actually 1983 !!! Oops a bit of a brain fart for me there I think !!! Some great memories there Stu as usual, and thank you for highlighting that there was a LOT of TV that completely passed my by as a kid, and thanks for your continued efforts & content !!!

I did see the odd episode of Get Some In, but a bit too close to my own life. My Wife Next Door was a definite favourite! The rest I never saw and by the look of them I wouldn’t have watched them anyway. Mind you I spent 5 years of the 70s wearing a blue uniform in other parts of the world so missed a lot of the TV shows of that period!

I really liked You're only young twice. Peggy Mount was a brilliant character actress. I would turn off anything with Mollie Sugden in it, even as a kid. Always over acted and was a real ham. Get some in was really good and my dad liked it as it reminded him of his national service. John Alderton was a friend of my Dad so I'm biased. He was always good value whatever he was in. The rest, I don't remember at all and I'm 55. This was an excellent video and I'm really enjoying this channels content. If only I could enjoy it while eating a Cabana bar!!😂

Wow, quite a lot of those passed me by although the Pat Coombs OAP sitcom triggered some distant bell...

Peggy Mount and Pat Coombs were also in the, now mostly wiped, series 'Lollipop Loves Mr Mole' written by Jimmy Perry. I also remember Peggy Mount's cameo as a very bossy Mother Superior in Inspector Morse, whom she indignantly tells 'I answer to a much higher authority than the Thames Valley Police!'

I love "Come Back Mrs. Noah!" beacause Molly Sugden was its star!😊

The only one I went "YES!" to was Come Back Mrs. Noah. I can't remember how I came across it, but I watched it about a decade ago and actually quite liked it! It's not like Red Dwarf levels of amazing, but I found it funny enough. Otherwise I feel like My Old Man is scratching around at the back of my brain in a Sunday afternoon repeat kind of way. I'll check out the David Jason one, he's been one of my favourites since I was a kid!

I was just wondering why some 70's sitcoms are repeated endlessly on certain TV channels while others like these are never ever shown.

You weren't joking when you called these 'forgotten'. The only one I have heard of was Get Some In. It was shown at 9pm on ITV as I remember because some of the language was a bit naughty. I think it might have been preceded by The New Avengers which I believe showed from 8-9pm so I was allowed to stay up to watch that but had to be in bed by 9.

You may be interested in this bit of trivia if you don't already know it, relating to Get Some In. Robert Lindsay and Karl Howman, who both played Jakey Smith, share the same birthday, 1949 and 1952 respectively. I happened on this fact when I realised that it was the same date as my grandma.

Well I remembered all apart from Room Service. I've never even heard of it tbh. But I remember most of those programmes being quite funny, with the exception of, sadly, Come Back Mrs Noah. I love Mollie Sugden but this was poor. Worst of the lot, though, was The Top Secret Life of Edgar Briggs. That was so excruciating that even Jason won't let it, or his other flop, Lucky Feller, ever be screened. Good video. Thank you. ☺👍
