Wow mate thats gr8 4u, Ive seen the great quality components, talent & attention to the small detail on both the ranges of Wolf and AIO guitars, most impressive axes indeed. These gr8 guitars are both made by the same Korean/American luthier in San Francisco if I recall right? Peace respect & far too much rock&roll is nowhere near enough.

I bought an Aria Model 1930 (a blonde natural finished, SG copy) when I was in high school in the 70’s. It was an amazing guitar that would compete with any Les Paul Custom. It was stolen in the 90’s. I found another one on reverb about a year ago. This one has a Bigsby like wiggle stick that’s amazing and really stays in tune. She was built in 1972 and felt some familiar in my hand. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

I found ONE Alvarez acoustic guitar that played and sounded great. I just started playing--I was 13 and mowing grass to buy gear. It was solid black,a Gibson Hummingbird copy. My elderly neighbor had a real 1968 Gibson Hummingbird---honestly it sounded very close to the Gibson,and played almost like an electric. Great video.🎸🎸 Great score on the Aria Pro II

I also have a n old Alvarez Hummingbird/J200 thing. It was gifted to me way back in 1994. She's had a rough life travelling internationally with me. She's battered, bruised, scared yet sounds amazing. With fresh strings she certainly holds her own amongst Gibsons and Martins. I might install a piezoelectric and an internal mic someday.

I am surprised that the Electra Phoenix/Weston guitars weren't mentioned! I owned a metallic blue strat style in the early 1980's; in which I am still kicking myself in the ass for selling it! I found a different kind of Electra on Reverb for a good price! They were all made in Japan! Great guitars!

Great video Robert, the original name of that Yamaha guitar was SGB, back in 1985, I bought a white Yamaha SGB 3000, it was decked out with abalone body trim inlay & came with a hardshell case, bought it at Guitar Center for $500, unbelievable price!!! Don't have it anymore, I gave it to one of my Best guitar buddies, Angle, back in 1987! If you can, there's 1 guitar company I'd like to see, it's Monroe custome guitars, came out in 1989 & I was getting an endorsement deal with them, but I only had 1 of their guitars & it got stolen & I NEVER found it again & then the company got bought out & disappeared!!! They were competing with the bigger companies, & being new, I think they ran out of money to keep it going. They use to have a full colored ad in Guitar for the practicing musician, I'll see if I can find one of those ads, sorry for long comment, stay safe my friend, Rock On & God Bless!!!

The best guitar I ever played was a Brian Moore 7 string in the late 90’s. By the time I saved up for a Brian Moore it was out of production. One of the best guitars I ever owned.

Brian Moore's are fantastic! I own a 2002 C90P I can't say enough great things about them. By the way they're still in business in New York state where they come from and they'll make you anything you want

I have an early 80s Shane… Targa 6string Superstrat. It was my first real electric, and I got it for Christmas 1994. A few things strike me about it; it has a super-comfy and fast maple neck with a rosewood board, well-potted, noiseless pickups, which I failed to appreciate when I was starting to learn basic guitar teching, but each had its own mini switch, so there were 7 possible pickup combos, and a warm, spongy sound from the body wood. It also had a heavy FR-licensed tremolo that actually strung through the saddles and didn’t require you to snip the ends off the strings. I can find woefully little info on the specs, but there’s a reason I still have it. It was purchased with the story that it was “a custom model for one of the guys from Kansas,” or some bullshit line like that, and while I have no illusions that this was actually the case, it was the spark that lit the fire of my love affair with the instrument.

When I was growing up in the 80s I always wanted an ARIA PRO II. They were very aspirational guitars at the time. In the very early 90s I finnally had enough money to buy a decent guitar but I bought a purple neon Ibanez RG570. I still have it today and it's still one of the best guitars I won. Luv and Peace.

Thanks for the backstory on the Takamine F360, I didn’t realize it was worth that much. It was actually my first guitar and I’ve had it for nearly 35 years, after it was left behind by a family friend. Incidentally, I did watch your second video and I ordered an Agile guitar based on your recommendation. Still waiting for it to arrive, so I’m excited to see how well it plays.

hi Robert I own a few Peavey USA guitars including a Vandenberg . I did buy number 700 and something when they came out but sold it to a friend who still has it .But I had to find another and I did . Great work ...

I had a Vandenberg signature series peavey.it came with a hard shell case where the molding inside was so tight you could put the guitar in the case hold it upside down with the lid open and the guitar would not fall out.that's how tight the molding was around the shape of the thing.

I have an Alvarez Classic II, it's a Telecaster style, basically a copy of a Telecaster but it sounds amazing, I absolutely love it.

Those Yamaha SG2000's/1000's are one of those punk rock guitars I've always wanted. So many great British punk and post punk guitarists used those in the late 70's and early 80's - my favorite being John McGeoch of Siouxsie & The Banshees, Magazine and PiL.

I got hold of a Made in Taiwan 1973 Yamaha FG-200 Acoustic for $145 from GC a couple of years back. It did need a refret and a new nut and saddle, and the tuning machine screws reset, but I’ll put that guitar up against any Martin D-18 anytime. I am a luthier so I performed all the work myself. I took it once to a local guitar shop - Mom & Pop store - and he said to “HOLD ONTO IT - DON’T SELL IT WHATEVER YOU DO.” So, it’s part of my collection forever.

I waited a full year to get a WOLF WLP 750T Purple Burst guitar at $600 with the hard case. It played awesome, right out of the box! Never had to mod it and it is now my daily player. Way better sounding and finish than the two Epiphone LP's that I own!

I just picked up a Brian Moore "iM" HSH guitar(Korean) last week, at a pawn shop. Paid $400 USD. Got a tweed case with it. I took a chance, thinking that between the case, the Sperzel locking tuners, and the Seymour Duncan pickups, I was getting my money's worth just in parts. But it is an AMAZING GUITAR!!!. All I've done to it is clean it, put some new strings on it and do a setup on it. I'm not changing a thing on this guitar. LOVE IT!

I've been happy with my Jackson USA custom Soloist. Great neck and plays like butter for me. Now to find a 7 string version. Vigier make awesome guitars my last teacher has two of them and is endorsed by Vigier. I was lucky to get to try them out. I still prefer Ibanez and Jackson wider flatter necks however. Mayones, Skervesen, Padalka, Framus and GNG make really cool metal guitars.

Very cool list ! Dave Meniketti played a Yamaha SG 2000 in the early '80s. I saw Y&T at The Old Waldorf then and he tore it up on one. Nice seeing Aria here. I had a CS250 that I bought in '81 new and dug but it broke strings so often I traded it for something else. Should have had the string thru set up checked and kept it.

Recently found your channel and have to say your probably one of my favs on here atm. Remind me of an old jamming bud lol. Your story about the Aria really got to me. Just how it's a bday present from your folks and you never modified it and still use it. My parents bought me 1999 Gibson Gothic Explorer I was googoo over for a present (and because they believed in their son) and as a young idiotic guy (long hard story) I never knew, nor appreciated what I had. I wound up selling it for FAR less then it was worth. I regret that BIG time as I know it disappointed my Mother, who I can no longer apologize to for it. I've tried to find another...they are pretty rare these days....and expensive. But one day I'll have another. Sorry to write a novel, but for some reason that tiny little few sentences really hit me. I have always been a fan of the Kramer of old. I have several USA Kramers from 80's. I just bought a new Kramer Assault plus. Quite frankly its probably one of my better guitars now. I like it better than my new B.C Rich. They have a lot of great features. It desperately needed a complete set up when I got it. It also fought me harder than any floyd I ever had as everything needed adjusted on this, truss rod, leveling the floyd, spring tensions intonation on all 6 string, spent some time on the fret ends. Spent a good 3 hours setting it up. However, she plays like a dream now and sounds wonderful. Has an excellent pick up combination out of the gate, had to go wrong with a JB in the bridge and JAZZ in the neck. Also all wired for coil splitting. Feeling it and holding it feels a lot like my old USA Kramers kind of crossed with a Charvel.

I have a Wolf PRS copy and it is a good guitar. $300 new it was a good buy. Neck is very similar to my PRS SE Custom 24 though slightly wider. Thanks for the video Robert!

LAG was the most famous French guitar brand, and equal to Valley arts in the 80s. Brian Moore is the very best guitar money can buy and have as much personality and quirkiness as the Peavey Vandenberg quilt top ;)

I like the Sire basses, they seem to be pretty well made. But I’m not a bass player at all, I just track a bass for a guitar recording every now and then. So me doing any videos on bass gear (unless it’s something that relates directly to guitar players) just doesn’t hold much water. I might as well do videos on trombone gear at that point.

@@RobertWJackson Ha OK fair point. In terms of the Sire Larry Carlton signatures, I've only seen the demo on Andertons channel, but they sound pretty good. The S7 and the H7 look pretty good, and they've recently announced an L7 goldtop and for the price look really good value for money.

Those early Takamine guitars had a very serious flaw. The woods were not properly dried and the necks bowed backward. This resulted in Takamine bringing out their Rocky Mountain Edition gutars which were dried better and did not exhibit the problem.

The lower output on the stock pickups on the Aria you have seems just fine, just gotta pair it with a higher gain amp. That's certainly what i'm planning on doing with my stock pickups on my Agile until i get some DiMarzio D Activators.

Cool video Robert! I remember a lot of those guitars. The Heartfield Talon was a nice guitar, but the reason I never bought one was the 25" scale length. That "In-Between" Fender and Gibson scale, shifted the positions of harmonic notes around the pickup area. That was my reason for never getting one. I think, (speculating here), the reason the line was so short lived, was because when the Talon series came out, the HM STRAT was still in production in the USA. Essentially, they were the same guitar with a few minor differences; 24 fret, 25" scale, locking tremolo, Basswood body, Maple neck, Rosewood fretboard, etc. One made in USA, the other in Japan. The HM Strat I used to own was tone disaster! It had no natural sustain, and a kind of muffled tone to it. I tried different pickups and that didn't help. Eventually, I made a 1/8" thick brass plate to mount in back of the headstock, which improved sustain and helped the tone a little, but it was more trouble than it was worth. I'm not sorry it's gone. The Brian Moore guitars are very nice though. I met a guy six years ago who had 5 of those, and he was completely in love with them, and talking up a storm about them. I played one, and liked it, and they seemed to be very solid guitars. Thanks for posting man! I enjoy a lot of your content.

@@RobertWJackson Yes, they were competing against themselves. Maybe they were trying that to see which market was stronger in sales of that particular type of guitar? Of course, another reason I didn't buy one of the Heartfields was because at the time, I already owned three Ibanez Jem guitars, so I didn't need a copy of that guitar. Maybe that was why Fender did that...to see if they could pull some of the market that Ibanez was taking a huge chunk of. The only flaw with that was they didn't have a major artist to endorse the Heartfields.

No wonder it didn’t stick around long. Didn’t sound good, didn’t play great. I did triple my investment tho! I don’t hate ESP - I have 2 others.

I need to let you borrow and check out my Alvarez Classic 5! Great guitar! Alvarez was very aggressive in taking care of any defects with the Scoops because they knew people would try to call them out for the strength of those necks. A friend of mine caught his foot under his. It shot the guitar into the air it came down and snapped the headstock and they just replaced the whole guitar for him even though it was totally his fault.

I have had an ari pro Ii cardinal series cs 350 I got out of a pawn shop when I was maybe 13/14yrs old. I'm 46now. Always loved this guitar and would never sell it.

Just restored a blue CS 350 I got for $99, someone had turned into an art piece covered in paint and (for some reason) foam and glue, but it cleaned up perfectly. Great sounding pickups too (called Aria Proto-Sound pickups), an excellent overlooked guitar I've wanted ever since seeing some guy playing a nice red one at my high school variety show in 1988.

I was really pleasantly surprised that you mentioned the Early Takamine acoustics. I've owned 2. first was my Dad's 1976 F-350M, and the Guitar I have now which is a 1974 F-340S. Seriously 2 of the best acoustics I've ever owned which would include vintage Gibsons and vintage Guilds. I have friends that have played my F-340S and make jokes that it's really a Martin D-18. Maybe better than a '70s D-18 because this guitar actually has a Truss Rod! which, Martin didn't start using until 1983. Tahe early Taki's are just way too under rated.

Aria Pro 2 Cats are cool, had a "The Cat" in 89 that was great, first guitar I ever had with a coil split pull-pot. Wish I still had it (traded for a 60s Airline archtop acoustic), but do still have a good CS 350, and an SL series that was $30 in a local shop (plays well but terrible muddy pickups, replaced them with Epiphone PAFs)

I think not too many of the Japanese Epiphones come up for sale because everyone in Japan hoards them. I mean, go check out videos of people going into shops in Japan. They literally fit so much into their shops in Japan that the only space left seems to be just enough for walking through and the front counter/register

I have had 5 Heartfield talons over the years. Some 2s and 3s and 5s still have a talon 2. I've also had the vandenberg but recently sold it. Regret that move .

I’ve still got my all original Epiphone Elitist ‘61 SG Standard Faded Cherry from the first run of them with it’s beautiful original hard shell case with purple padding I bought it brand new in 2003 when I was 14 years old real mother of pearl inlays in the headstock and fretboard one peace mahogany neck real bone nut book matched mahogany body with special made in USA pickups and electronics I’ve still got the hang tags and case candy hell even the blow out sale flyer that was pushed between the strings from the music store I bought it from my one and only gripe with it is that it has the quintessential 1960’s slim taper neck and I like a little bit wider neck with a little bit flatter back to it because I have bigger hands otherwise she’s never let me down at one point the finger board had gotten a little bit dry so a couple of the inlays got loose lifted up on one side but a little bit of work with a sewing needle to help carefully lift the 3 of them up and out of the fingerboard and a couple of drops of krazy glue I then pushed them back in place and it’s never happened again and because I went the extra mile and removed them completely there’s no glue that oozed out and you can’t feel any edge at all I honestly don’t remember which ones it happened to and there’s no way to tell it was done and before anyone says anything I’ve had that happen to real Gibson’s among other “high end” brands too .....I paid 1100$ Canadian taxes in for it of my own money from a lawn mowing/snow shovelling business I had going with a hand me down 1966 mtd ride on mower and a couple of shovels I got from Canadian Tire .... I had went to the music store that day to order a Flying V special faded and after having read all about the Epiphone Elitist series in guitar magazines and seeing that one sitting there I couldn’t help but try it out and well after having played Gibson’s from the 80’s and 90’s as well as brand new custom shop models as well as having owned a couple of regular Epiphone guitars and feeling how high quality and just plain right that the elitist sg felt especially because of the thin coat of hand rubbed finish making it feel like natural wood I scrapped the I need a real made in USA Gibson plan and Ol’Red came home with me that day and I played that thing every day 2-5 hours until 2007 when I bought my first real Gibson Les Paul BFG which has the same natural wood grain feeling plus a more comfortable neck carve for me..... I still have that one too and also have a 1994 Gibson LP studio in a now faded creamy coloured alpine white with Seymour Duncan 59’s and the only guitar that I can say that I own that’s better than the Epiphone is an all original made in Japan 2007 Jackson RR5 that I recently found in 95% mint condition for less than half of its current value.... funny thing is that the two highest quality electric guitars out of the four I currently have are the MIJ guitars and not the made in USA Gibson’s..... now that should say something the wildest thing about it is that the faded cherry 61 SG is supposed to be one of the rarest of the elitist line and sell for more now than I originally paid for it but Ol’Red is not going anywhere

2 things. I own the Yamaha sbg2000. It's an UNBELIEVABLE guitar!! I will never part with it. The takamine d28 is a dead ringer on looks, but the few I've played made it a 7 out of 10, sound wise. Worth maybe 500 in mint condition imo

Hope to get a good USA BC Rich ST-III someday, had 2 of them (NJ Series) that unfortunately were terrible - crap tremolos, wouldn't stay in tune. Really wanted to like them more...that said, I did have an NJ Stealth that was excellent, and currently have an Eagle and a Mockingbird that are decent.

As an aside, I’ve always kinda liked Brian Moore guitars. However, I could have gone my entire life without knowing that the MC in MC-1 signified “Moore Cummings”.
