RiverRat 2112 Ya it was nice of him, I wish more people could be that nice. I recently lost like a 45+inch Striper off a public landing in Maine when some jerkoff, that saw i was fighting a monster pulled in with his boat and pretty much intentionally ran my line right over just to be a dick... I felt like whipping the guy in the face with my rod lol, I had pretty light gear with 30lb line and was about 20 mins into the fight and had the fish just about worn down and ready to just reel him in ... it sucked.

@@omcbob37 I find this extremely hard to believe. They wouldn't just throw out 400 lbs of meat. I've been an avid spear fisherman for years and I can tell you for a fact they they wouldn't throw them out. Spearing may have played a role in their decline but it wasnt the only reason, and it definitely wasn't because they were thrown away like trash fish.

Granted that's not huge for its so a has and probably more like about 350. They do commonly get 600-700 lbs though. They used to fish for them with win has and steel cable in Ft Pierce at the Jetty where I grew up before they got protected status. Now they are quite prolific. They typically live inshore till about 50 to 100 lbs then start making their way offshore and metamorphosis from male to female. Sometimes they find a honeymoon like this one and just stay.

Neat vid but having fished in that exact spot many times I can tell you that fish was/is basically a pet (or pest at times), I hand fed it a 20 lb cuda one day. I thought about trying to catch it but the local divers and fishermen frowned upon it. At least you didn't leave a hook in her like so many others have. The "You could feed a whole half of haiti with that" makes the vid for me :D

Why talk Shit about a beginner? He obviously asked for this guy's help. When dealing with a giant fish the learning curve is steep. The guy was doing the best he could not knowing Jack Shit. Hopefully he learned a bit and will be better the next time someone asks for his help. If it's such a big deal the fisherman should have had experienced anglers there to help him land the fish AND film instead of asking random people for help.

Ok. What am I missing? I've watched it twice now and don't see any rudeness. I see a guy trying to land a huge fish and maybe he is kinda sharp and direct to the point. When you're fighting a fish like that you don't have time for niceties or for coddling someone.

All's fair in love and fishing. I guess if they haven't had the experience they wouldn't understand. I have never hooked into anything near that big but I know I get pretty intense reeling in a 10 pound Channel Cat out of The Big Muddy.
