Why wouldn't you clear those trees out on the down side of the bridge? They are creating their own dam situation. You had the equipment there. I just don't know why.
@donmcgimpsey1706 Жыл бұрын
I kept on thinking you would take a chainsaw to those little saplings - they are the fresh material needed. Your bucket keeps getting caught up on one of them, must be frustrating, and I'm guessing you are not supposed to touch standing trees ?

No they didn't want us to cut them.

The reason beavers can rebuild a dam is because the dam is sloped under water about 10 ft out from the sticks that are above ground. When the water drains as soon as it hits the slope the water slows to a crawl. Then they start building it right there. If you are busting beaver dams reach out and find where the slope ends and starts. Then start digging the mud on the slope first. Then bust the dam on the furthest point from you. When the water stops you’ll see what I’m saying

Thanks for the tip, the next time we do one I will give a look and try that out.

@lawrencejneuser88013 жыл бұрын
I would park the machine near by just so the beavers don't get the upper hand. Just don't leave the keys in it, you wouldn't want them to figure out how to use it.
@SkidderKev3 жыл бұрын
Just think of the dam they can make of they found the keys haha

How long till they rebuild? I was waiting to see you pull up an angry beaver with the branches. Thanks for sharing.

As soon the beaver notice and finds the leak he starts rebuilding, so basically right after the machinist left 😂😂🤣 it's a fixed dam by next morning 😎😎
@adulfdabo8985 жыл бұрын
The little road is already a dam and the gap is way to small. It will be rebuild in no time, so you can probably come back every week. :-D

Pretty cool video. Do you have much trapping down your way for beaver? Just wondering if the beaver that made this dam got trapped first or not?
@SkidderKev6 жыл бұрын
+Mark Mortensen no there isn't much trapping here but a trapper was hired to take take care of these ones. now he did have a problem getting these ones and I don't think he got any here. I'm thinking we will be back in the spring doing the same job. thanks for watching!!
@jimlepeu5776 жыл бұрын
Smooth move taking the dam and dumping it some distance away, that’ll slow down a rebuild - now sit there with a gun and wait for them to come to repair it.
@SkidderKev6 жыл бұрын
+Jim LePeu they are small enough that they won't cause any flood down stream. I agree with you about waiting and shooting them and I suggested it too but they just can't do that on these properties.

I understand safety, but could you swing that bucket any slower? This was painful to watch. The beavers could build the damn back while you emptied the bucket.

The guy driving the skid steer should have had his bucket up aboue 3-4 feet and tilted back so the front lip of the bucket would be as high as the back top of the bucket.

Literally over night due to the sound of rushing water. These little bastards will flood and build dams in places they shouldn’t. If your road ways really get flooded when they shouldn’t theirs a dam some where thats needs removal. Makes a good dam explosive video.
