To help with the flies and bugs you might want to drink a cup of Lemongrass tea, and rub or spray the lemongrass oil on you and your clothing. It should keep them away and it's actually good for the skin, among other benefits.

Do you think there is another dam down the river? There was not much movement with the water.

About a kilometer below this culvert there is another beaver dam, but I had no order to remove it. This area is already very low-lying, which is why the water is dammed up so much at such a distance.

Need some drag chains with big hooks you can drop in and let excavator pull them out. The way the water in standing looks like you got another damn down steam go knock it out to lower water level.

The operator didn't appear to be working in the right spot the dam is obviously down stream if he had the water moving it most likely would help him greatly just saying my view from my couch lol

When you stuck your long handle tool in the water just off the side, that dumb thing sunk ALL THE WAY! Screw that noise, and the black pools rising with every little bucket scoop. YIKERS I bet that smell permeated your nostrils long past finishing. That whole canal was a mess. Water didn't move one way or the other, looked stagnant to me. I bet you were glad when it was finished!

in places like this you need a large rake on a chain you drop the rake on the back side pull chain to rake and let cat pul it out

That water looked infectious. Like it had crude oil, some kind of fat or possibly runoff from a slaughterhouse. I hope you guys are vaccinated for hepatitis A and B. Or at least got a gamma globulin shot.

Easy with this water, nothing bad happened. It's just a lot of silt. This is especially true in lowland areas where, additionally, the water flow is low. Then all the silt is deposited at the bottom of the stream, and when the excavator starts cleaning it all, the water looks like this and is all black. I was wondering if you guys ever tried a Grappling Hook ties to a chain then to the Bucket. You have a guy stand in the water and throw it over the dam and then pull sideways with the excavator. You can get a nice big hook made or even use something like a boat anchor. I also saw one guy use a tree and grab it with the thumb on the bucket and use it like a battering ram.
