Hey, Danna. I came across your KZbin channel two weeks ago and I enjoy your videos. And I can say that I am similar to you as being able to see red flags early on. At first, I didn't realize what kind of character your ex has, but the more I watched it, especially the one from Burning Man, I noticed a few things. It's interesting how sometimes you don't need to see and say a lot to realize certain things, maybe because I experienced similar things. But I'm glad that you don't make compromises which does not represent you, don't make you feel comfortable and things don't bring you peace in your life and in your soul. Better alone than with the wrong person. You are a strong and independent person. We women don't need a man in our lives to see our worth and live our lives the way we want. If it's meant to be, that special person will come when you least expect it. Have an amazing day ❤!

I watched a KZbinr the other night that is going thru a divorce say, “When someone shows u who they r, believe them.” That hit me hard. It’s really brave to end a relationship that u know is not right for u, than it is to stay and try to play pretend like a ton of people do. I just want u to know that I really care about u and things always get better w/time. 😘❤️

I’m 38 and been single for 7 years and it’s been incredible just embracing it! I even just got a cat 😅 My life is complete. It wasn’t easy to reach this mentality though, but my friend helped me move past my deeply rooted fears that were causing my anxiety around being single and “dying alone surround by my hungry cats…” but she reminded me no one is guaranteed anything in the end, even if you marry and have children. You may get divorced, wind up in a toxic marriage, there may be unexpected deaths, deployments, etc…and there’s nothing you can do about it. We all envision a warm bed surrounded by grown kids and grandkids as we slip away peacefully, but you’re just as likely to be surrounded by close friendships that you nurture these days. Times have changed and people are closer than ever with those they’ve connected with outside of the family. And it’s easier to nurture those relationships when you’re not stuck in an incompatible relationship. It sounds depressing at first but it’s also very freeing to let go of the control that is the core of many unhealthy relationships. Also, it’s better to be eaten by your own cats than to be stuck in a toxic or abusive relationship. It’s great you followed your gut and ended things before too long. You’ve got this! You’re already there, I can tell!

Also somehow the moment I realized this, I stopped longing for company. I used to travel alone when I was 17-23 then reached a weird stage where I couldn’t have fun alone. I dated an addict and a few other guys who were “great” but we just weren’t compatible but I ignored those “orange” flags and stayed too long under the guise of giving them a fair chance. But now I don’t feel lonely or the need to date whatsoever. Not that I wouldn’t date-I absolutely would for the right person if they showed up- but it’s not even in the back of my mind. And it’s been years. I’ve had well meaning friends tell me I have to at least out “a little work in” if I want to find “the one,” but that’s just it. I no longer need to find “the one.” My deep fear may be different than others but if you can find whatever yours is in that deepest darkest place, I think it can snap you out of that painful longing and loneliness 💕💕💕

Wow! My exact fear!!! I do have kids, and I even have a grandchild, but I stay in my 32-year relationship because I'm terrified I'll get sick and die alone like my mom did. I DO NOT want that to be my kids' job!! Me and my husband invested too many years to die alone! We owe each other to be there for one another! Many times I've wished and dreamed of something else. I guess I truly believe, I'm not worth it!

You remind me a bit of my younger self. I always put 100% in my new relationships and tended to stay way past the point when I knew we weren't right for each other. Growing up with alcoholic narcissists, I was also most comfortable in a state of chaos with people who needed to be "fixed". I would completely give up my own interests, goals, friends in order to start living the other persons' life/happiness. When the relationship would end I was left with nothing...each and every time! It took me years to get a bit "selfish" and make "myself" a priority. It took me a long time to get it right, but I did, and I can see you are on the right path just by listening to your intuition. Wishing you the very best. You are beautiful inside and out and your person is out there! I found mine when I stopped looking and had given up...go figure :)...One thing I realized is that if you have childhood trauma it is best to pair up with someone who had a happy childhood. That made a huge difference in my healthy relationship.

Something my therapist said to me is that the relationships and behaviors we see as a child become the template for what our unconscious minds consider "ideal." So if we grow up watching parents who have lots of drama and instability in their relationship, for example, our brains use that as the template for what we look for as adults. Our conscious brain might know something isn't good for us, but our unconscious mind still drives us toward it. It can take a lot of work and effort to turn things around.

It’s actually very normal and healthy to date. Most people just don’t share early relationships on social media. I actually don’t run from relationship to relationship, I was single for two years before this year. If someone shows up in my life, who seems like a good fit, I will definitely give them a shot. Otherwise, just doing my thing. Also, you see 40 minutes of my life every week. You actually don’t know what’s healthy for me and I’ll go ahead and consult my inner guidance and therapist on that matter. I will also be the judge of when it is healthy to leave a relationship. You guys have no idea what happens behind closed doors , But judge away. And I’ll keep doing my thing. I’ll take as much time as I need, and I’ll date when I’m ready. 💖💫

I broke up with a man once because he leaned into me while I answered my phone. He was trying to hear who called me ( it happened to be a female tenant) . I spoke openly in front of him so the behavior was unacceptable. Another thing he did was ask me if I ever wore my hair up because his ex-wife used to wear her hair up. Too many red flags! I also grew up in a toxic, disfunctional home and my main problem in the past was thinking I could fix a man instead of waiting for what I deserve. Looking forward to the crochet video and rig organization. I used to crochet and want to get back to it. Take care Danna.

The ‘art of letting go’ and ‘grow’ is a lifelong process! You are an example and role model to many of dealing with human complexities that confront us all but very few are willing to address with truth and honesty as it can be brutally painful. But the resolve can be equally enlightening, strengthening and maturing, reaching inner peace many never experience! I walked the walk and talked the talk, living the most peaceful and enlightened years as my candle is slowly burning low at age 82. You are among few on ‘the road less traveled’ - never sway or doubt! I love you for who you are as I know you through this medium ❤️

I applaud you for seeing and ackowledging that it wasn't what you wanted or needed. I have been stuck on the fringes of a relationship for the past year and just took a 3 day trip and the entire time I kept telling myself how stupid I was to keep doing this to myself, that it will never change no matter how much I want it to. I know it needs to end and I will have to be the one who does it. So hearing your affirmations is what I needed to hear. And second, yes I want to see you crochet, your crochet projects and anything crochet!!!! For an entire year after my divorce I crocheted every night. It kept my mind occupied and it couldn't wander to the dark places. So a YES to the crochet videos.

I've been following your channel since way back in the LA days and have stuck around through a lot because I admire how transparent yet classy you always keep your videos. You always keep it real with your following and never sugarcoat life but also have a sense of elegance about how you share it. I know you have joked in the past video about how elegant you are but truly, you maintain life even through the hard times in such positive ways and never try to spread hate or blame on people even when you're upset and anger at times. That shows true maturity and is inspiring to someone who has grown up with a narcissistic parent with mental illness as well and who has also at times let that trauma turn me into a bitter, often times petty person. I strive to heal to point where you are at where you can maintain your feelings towards someone or a situation without being hateful or bitter. I'm just not always there yet but you inspire me to get there. One of these days....lol Much love to you Danna! If you decide to come to the East Coast or Virginia at all, let me know! I am a guy and i relate completely with where you find yourself in relationships. I have realized that trying to discover what i want in someone im with should not be the priority. Red flags are supposed to be . . . Red flags. You may be able to help people with their red flags but at what cost to you? And you should always expect the red flag to return . Red Flag Returning. Great name for a song.

So good that you're dealing with what keeps on manifesting in your life. Why do you spend so much time and energy helping others? It's called projection. Our issues feel too hard to process so we try and help others heal. It never works, you can't really help others before you heal yourself. So we end up attracting into our lives those that are also not addressing their own issues. Focusing on healing yourself and setting healthy boundaries shows you're working in the right direction. 💪💪

Hi Danna, I wasn't planning on commenting, but I wanted to share an impression that I hope isn't taken the wrong way, as it's what I would tell a friend I care about. I've noticed in your videos over the years (now take this with a grain of salt, as those are brief glimpses into your life) that you tend to go "all in" VERY quickly in relationships. The way you talk about your boyfriends only weeks in, it's as if you've found your soulmate. I don't see much emotional caution by way of words or time. It seems that you give your heart over too quickly, and somewhat recklessly, before he's had a chance to earn your trust, and before the potential of the relationship can truly be known. Again, I say all of this knowing that I'm operating off of limited info., but I wanted to say it in case it helps in the future. Love your content and will be thinking of you during this hard time 💙.

Oh sweetheart Danna. I just wanna squeeze you. Ugh it sucks sucks sucks. I was worried when you said you guys were going to burning man and then when I watched your vlog from it, I got even more nervous. The energy between you and the difference in opinion on the air and sleeping, etc…. Energy just wasn’t right. But, in hindsight, it’s much better to just go ahead and expose the reality of what life would be like with that person early on. Esp as you get older, you know? Ain’t got no time for that bullshit. Times a-wastin’. Only put out and accept the good vibes. If it doesn’t serve you well and make you feel like the best version of you, then bye bye. You deserve all the goodness. Selfishly, I am sad you won’t be in Montana anymore. Which is funny because I still haven’t met you in person and you are just half an hour away… I wanna be your friend so bad. Haha. Anyway, thinking of you. Heal and rest up and then take us on an adventure, please! 🫶

I don't mind jumping in quickly. You learn who someone is fast and less time is wasted if there are incompatibilities. I do think that living in a van is more the issue than wanting kids/the age thing. There is NO way I'm living in my trailer in MT over the winter, nor am I living in my dads basement. So I had to decide to move somewhere local if I were going to date Dan. Obviously, if I had already lived in MT and wasn't traveling, I wouldn't be moving into tiny homes etc. It's more of a logistical thing than anything.Thank you for sending some love and I appreciate your insights. It helps me look at it from a different point of view, so thank you 💖

Having your relationships and dating life on view for the public is crazy. Relationships have ups and downs and sometimes the downs can be hard and not very pretty. When my husband and I started dating we were so attracted to each other but we both came with some baggage from past relationships. He had to learn to trust and I had to learn not to give up. We had some heated arguments. It takes two and both people have to not want to give up, learn respect, honesty, learn it's ok not to be perfect and keep trying. We've been together 15 years now and we're inseparable. I sure hope you find that person who appreciates all of your great qualities. I also hope you get a tiny house you can call home.

We are comfortable with what we know. I had a bi-polar mother and alcoholic father, so needless to say my childhood was chaotic. I know all the red flags and did all the work, yet still attracted the wrong kind of man for years because it was what I knew and was comfortable with. Finally, at 47 I can say I broke the cycle and found a really good man. It's still hard for me to express my feelings when we disagree, but its so worth it for the right person. We're getting married next year. P.S. He was the boring guy.

There’s actually some KZbinrs who are “boring” guys, & they have the most polite & supportive followers. One evening I was watching another episode of a one preparing to camp out for the night, & amongst the thousands of comments, was one that said “I have no idea why I’m watching a grown man sleeping on the ground, but I’m here for it!”. That “boring” Canadian has over a million subscribers.

You "fall in love" too easily and way too fast. You and Skylar broke up then all of a sudden you're talking about moving in and having kids with a new guy. You're too pushy and hyper. Most guys I think find that to be a turn off. Next time around maybe try acting your age instead of like some teenager with their first crush. You're beautiful and I'm not saying any of that to be mean. It's just what I see and my opinion.
