I may be wrong but I think a lot of people are wrong with this one, it's not Lorgar, just another Daemon. I want Lorgar to return but I think people are miss hearing the word 'SON' with this animation. EDIT: if you turn subtitles on it confirms that it doesn’t say the word ‘Son’ but the Marines name! Even more proof it’s not Lorgar!

So the marine's name is Sariel, we hear the Daemon call him that earlier in the episode. The subtitles confirm that it is the Daemon possessing him that is talking at the end. Would have been cool to be Lorgar and shares some similarities to what we've seen of his Daemonic form in artwork, but it isn't Lorgar

I could easily see the Daemon using the form of Lorgar when coming to claim Sariel, but that's probably also just wishful thinking since it does vaguely resemble Lorgar in the books.

Oh, Warhammer TV has subtitles. It shows his name is Sariel, and he says “Fear not Sariel”, not “my son”. The demon speaks and it calls it “Demon Sariel”. Not Lorgar

Had the exact same thing happen to me & I was so mad at myself as I louded it up then it hits the end & I see & hear it for myself & it’s so very obvious it’s not Lorgar! Some people man… The Demon repeats the man’s name multiple times, the voice of the demon sounds exactly the same as the voice that spoke during the entire short! It’s purple & black which normally i would think Slaaneshie demon but i believe he’s just manifesting via the Warp which like the eye of Terra is mostly purple & black. Feel like people don't remember what Gal Vorbak and Argel Tal were and looked like. This was never Lorgar, who last I checked wasn't purple with giant ass wings (you can see them flapping behind the Daemon). All the way through the episode he's arguing with the Daemon, it warns him and then he gets his soul nommed. Also he's way too small to be a Daemon Primarch, even Lorgar but he's not Gold at all. Have we all forgotten about Lorgar and the Gold?

I'd give Return to Cadia 7 out of 10 myself. There are a few suitably creepy moments, and it was nice to see a Chaos Space Marine engaged in psychological warfare, not just combat. And no, I don't think it's Lorgar, just a (cool) warp demon that has possessed some hapless space marine left behind.

In the warcom article announcing the codex, GW made a joke about Karandras not being there I qoute: "Perhaps Karandras’ current absence can be considered a boon then, all things considered." As someone who would love to see Lorgar come back to the tabletop, alongside a full new Word Bearers range and would be extremely happy if 11th Edition was Ultrmarines vs. Word Bearers, it’s with heavy heart that I don’t feel that is Lorgar. The duality of the Chaos Marines with him talking to his inner demon, to me, makes me think they just separated at the end. The demon has a bond with the host and will protect its host, so I think the demon just assisted with its own extraction to keep its mortal host safe. Sadly, I don’t believe that is Lorgar. I know you like the action stuff, but I loved this as I too love the action but psychological thriller/horror is also my thing, so it’s an 8 out of 10 for me. Mainly because I would like an hour long version with more terror and fear. The grimdark side of this was spot on. I do not like the cartoony side of the Warhammer Universe, so this for me is a step in the right direction.

I think it’s just the Daemon that was possessing the Marine. The Marine gets blown up so the Daemon is being pulled back into the Warp since its host is dead, and it drags his soul in with it.

I watched it with subs, he doesn't say "son." I and my friend aren't convinced it's Lorgar but the warp manifestation of the Daemon Sariel is possessed by. The whole monologue the Daemon says is "Choice. That is the true game. We live and die by the choices we make. But fear not Sariel, you will have eternity in my loving embrace to learn this lesson" As much as I want it to be Lorgar, I'm not convinced that this is how GW would introduce a Daemon Primarch so soon after another.

I think you're right Valrak. I think it's more likely that it's the possessor daemon coming to claim his due. Also the Possessed Marine looks terrified as he stands transfixed by the flames, I don't think he would naturally be terrified of being welcome into Lorgar's 'breast' or whatever.

Nope, never once for a second thought it was Lorgar. Seemed pretty clear it was the demon who was possessing him. For a second i thought it might have been one of the major 4 chaos gods, but don't think so.

I don't think lorgar would be doing what the demon did. The demon "saved" the marine from being trapped in the warp and was trying to posses the marine to enter his domain. I don't know what lorgar would do, but it wouldn't be that I think. Lorgar wouldn't be so petty to go after his own sons like that!! He has other plans and methods. But thats what I liked so much about the story, it was as much about chaos preying on the marine as it was the soldiers! It was a fascinating way to show how chaos acts, it wasn't just imperium vs chaos marines and their chaos gods!! Unique story!!

I think that is Lorgar. Adding Lorgar gives GW a place to put undivided Daemons in the future and I don't see them introducing a random unnamed daemon to the Cadia storyline which is one of their most important to lore. Models like Dark Commune, Master of Possession, Accursed Cultists, and Dark Apostle, have always seemed like they fit best with the Word Bearers and seem a bit out of place in some of the other legions. I am willing to do whatever mental gymnastics I need to do in order to convince myself that more Word Bearers are coming.

I give it an 8.5/10, I enjoyed the small plot, simple idea and the way they slowly brought out the Marine - which looked thoroughly terrifying and powerful. It was a good balance to the non-stop combat that made up the Secret Level episode imo.

non-stop combat??? I think we watched different secret level episodes. There was some combat, sure. But non-stop? Do you know what non-stop means? I'll give you 2 minutes for the valley sequence and 3 min for tzangors in the dark, [BREAK], shoot statue [BREAK], kill deamon [ACTION OVER]. I would give my left nut to nurgle to have a 15min non-stop action cinematic at the quality of the Secret Level episode. Hell, I'll take Tithes level animation, but give me something with a well drawn out full scale action sequence that lasts more than 5 min.

It’s not Lorgar. Twice the demon calls the Word Bearer by the Word Bearer’s name. The second time is in the scene you show. It’s the same voice of the demon who’s possessing the marine, too.
