I can't even believe what I just watched. I've been playing guitar for 35 years and it would take me 5 years just to emulate this. To arrange it would be a life's work. It's one thing to play this (which is no easy task) but to ARRANGE it puts Kent on another level, truly. I wish non-musicians could understand how rare Kent's gift is.. Best finger-style musician on planet earth. No exceptions. Just....holy shit the dynamics and complexity of the voicings and syncopation..this guy is second to NOBODY who has ever lived. I'm in shock

He is absolutely one of the top 3-5 guitarist ever. But there are others like Luca Stricagnoli, Marcin Patrzalek, Lucas Imbiriba, Josephine Alexandra...

@@Terra-Incognlta and none of them are on his level. Lucas has the ability. Stricagnoli is a dog and pony show imo using a second pre tuned guitar to play the exact melody he wants. Unique however I feel it's cheating compared to others that use one instrument and frankly do it better. I genuinely dig his rendition of dark necessities tho. All are great on their own way. Kent is a diff breed

FOREVER LEARNER Well, now that you mention this, let me tell you that, among the several few finger-style guitarists that I like, Michael Chapdelaine and Kent Nishimura are my favorite ones; and not only for their great playing but for their capability to do fabulous arrangement, which is an add-on gift, few good players are given.

@Karlo Tee I certainly have seen Alexandr Miso (plus Tommy Emmanuel, Luca Stricagnoli, Don Ross, Pierre Bensusan, Julia Lange, Jon Gomm, between some of the the best). However, the arrangement ideas, way of playing, separation of notes (where melody sings, while bass and chords accompany from "somewhere else") of these two persons is what gets me, personally.

The „best“-Bullshit is bullshit. Kent is obviously a supremely talented musician and one of the great fingerstylers already. His ability to capture so many layers of the multi-instrument original compositions is incredible. Other fingerstylers focus on other aspects. So I doubt there is a „best“ one. Emmanuel is obviously quicker and technically more versatile, Francesco Buzzuro too. But who cares. They are all great musicians to be enjoyed

Compare this to the next 5 covers you find on youtube for ANY of Kent covers, and you'll see that not all arrangements are created equal. Kent is an artist beyond his years. Anyone who says otherwise is either A) a troll, b) clueless, C) a hater, or D) all of the above.

June Smith Agree... My personal opinion is that people, in general, are not prepared to appreciate what Kent (and similar players) do. Millions of subscribers go easily to simple rock guitar vids (with drums and a lot of noise, the best...) Sungha Jung's video with electric guitar (Canon Rock) achieved the highest and quickest views, compared to all his other acoustic guitar videos.... Let's think...;-)
