Every time I get a chance to sit, relax, and spend a few moments listening to you spin a yarn, I find myself smiling and contemplating finer moments in life. Thanks, for that, my friend. I also appreciate that you tend to puff away at that pipe an awful lot, when you are lost in the storyline. Just like me. :) always carry a shovel, eh?

Boy, I've missed your stories John.- Wonder if Phil inspired Nick. When my son Johnny, was 9 or 10 years old he was seen by a neighbor girl peeing on some bushes. She told her mom and her mom called the cops. He got a ticket for indecent exposure and we had to go to court. That never would have happened in the sixties.
@Matches860
@Matches860 10 жыл бұрын
OMG! Times have certainly changed. I did leave out a peeing incident which occurred during this same period, but I hate implicating myself LOL.

Reminds me of my antics with the butcher, we would yell into the place to stop killing the live chickens, This was when you could see them cut off the heads and throw them into a funnel to drain the blood while the bird flapped about. This stopped when the principal got on the PA and warned us to stop or else!

To be totally honest, a lot of this stuff I kept in a very crude diary starting in 1965, so that kind of jump starts the old worn out brain. Ask me about something in the '80s or '90's and we're in big trouble.
@thetobaccoguy1751

Matches860 I'm sure that helps out. You sure seem to remember those incidents in great detail. You know, nicotine has been shown to aid in memory and discourage degenerative brain conditions like Alzheimer's. www.scienceagogo.com/news/20031012195753data_trunc_sys.shtml You never know, that pipe might really be bringing those memories back. Lol.

Great story John, I think we all had a friend like Phil, I know I did he was called Brian, sadly we lost touch many years ago. Last I heard of him (from another old friend) that he had commited suicide, he shot himself at age 45, He was the last person I thought would do that he was so full of life. Take care John

Hey John. I don't know if you'll ever see this comment mate but that was one funny story. I had a friend just like Phil, your 5 years older than me so we kinda grey up in the 60's. Looking back I'm sure now a days my friend (Kenny) would have been diagnosed with being on the autism spectrum towards the strange end. He always carried a phone handle with him, the big old black ones. And he was always taking a dump when ever the urge grabbed him. I remember my Dad banning him from the yard because of his bowel habits. I often wonder what became of Kenny and his phone receiver. Great memories mate. Regards, Kevin.

Would you consider Riverboat Gambler to be as good or any where near Haunted Bookshop?
@Matches860
@Matches860 7 жыл бұрын
You know, when I first tried Riverboat Gambler I thought I might be saying bye to Haunted Bookshop. R.G. is/was more expensive and gave me a bit more nicotine than I could handle. Bowl to bowl, I'd pick R.G., but over the long haul,H.B. still wins.
