As someone who has been abused, Octavia sassing her parents even though she knows it will get her abused makes sense to me. They already abuse you. If you're gonna get abused anyway, you might as well do what you can to feel like you achieved some kind of small win over them. It shows them they haven't completely beaten your spirit out of you. Everyone expects abuse victims to always be meek and helpless but often they're angry and rebellious instead.

As someone who wrote a story that enough people liked that I got art drawn of a bunch of the scenes in it, I understand the Scissors Twilight creator on a spiritual level. When you just make something to make something you tend to just do it in one long go things going from brain to page in a marathon. Then life happens and you're forced to stop for whatever reason. And when that ends and you return to it, everything you do is worse in quality to what you did before and it's better off that you leave it unfinished then it becoming like that drawing of a horse that gets worse meme.

Pretty much, it always ends like any good slasher flick with a promise of a sequel. Even did a jason vorhees and had a fantiction set in hell. Only issue is that it started out small scale then randomly became strong enough to solo the mlp verse so people starting calling it a mary sue character.

Fun fact: The Friendship Test is most likely based off of the horror movie Would You Rather. I don't have any confirmation, but it doesn't take much to realise how damn similar they are with both being death games and involving the players being forced to make sick choices with only one surviving in the end. Both even have the exact similar choices at one point to either whip one character with a rod or stab someone else. Eg. In Would You Rather, a man gets beaten to death with a rod as a result of so many players choosing it, exactly the same as Rainbow dying in The Friendship Test because of the same reason. I just wanted to point this out as I've never heard anyone adress it before-

Honestly, I kinda wish they didn’t reuse torture techniques from the movie. As someone who’s seen Would You Rather, it made the story seem derivative and a bit boring. Maybe the torture techniques for each pony should’ve aligned better with that pony’s element of friendship? I know that’s what the original story was going for (the text even mentions it), but I don’t think it was executed very well. It’s a shame too, since The Friendship Test is the story I think had the most potential because of its premise.

Then when I was listening to a reading of The Friendship Test I kinda rolled my eyes when I realised the not-even-subtle similarity. There's nothing wrong with taking inspiration! The alternate ending of Rocket to Insanity was a really long fancomic series of Rocket to Insanity that was much different. For example, Pinkie doesn't die to Dash, only gets hurt badly and gets sent to the hospital, and Twilight cares for Dash and is trying to find a way to stop the thing that keeps giving her nightmares and occasionally turning her evil. Something Sweet To Bite is interesting in the sense that the whole thing can be read as some kind of slasher film and just like slashers,it got a bazillion sequels. So basically pinkie pie always used to bake pies for rainbowdash untill she realised that she has never actully seen her eat them. the way eff talked about the creator of scitwi was too harsh. while the creator was not particularly chatty, they still seemed generally nice. they made all that art for free (as far as i'm aware), it wasn't their job, so they weren't obligated to be grateful for the attention they received, nor were they obligated to have a consistent post schedule. as someone who has chronic illness myself, i believe eff shouldn't have assumed that they were coming up with excuses not to post. sickness, prolonged or not, is a valid reason for the creator not to invest a bunch of time and energy into (what i assume was) a hobby. not trying to cancel anyone, here, i just wanted to express my opinion that eff speaking about such topics in that way is insensitive.

Agreed. No hate to this guy cuz this channel is really cool and I like the video. However, when it came to the Scissor Twilight, its too harsh even if it is jokes. I dunno if Eff draws themselves, but drawing the same thing all the time can be draining for an artist. I use to run a blog myself and after running it for 3 to 4 years, I just lost the motivation to continue. There can also be the fact that the pressure and attention might of been too much, it feels more like a chore to continue the story than genuine fun. One thing I can agree when it comes to the artist tho is that they probably should of said sooner or later that they dont wanna draw it anymore. Motivation dies sometimes, it happens!

Totally agree, I was about to leave a comment about it myself. As someone who has a disease that presents itself later in life, as well as having gone through a different issue that took years to sort and find an answer for medically, it was a rather hurtful thing to hear the assumption they were just being lazy. I also think that Octavia's comments about her dad's "Y'know What" could've also been a direct insult at him for the amount of times that he's struck and beaten her in the story. Sometimes abuse victims will bite back at their abusers, it doesn't tend to work out well for them. But it gives them a sense of dominance over the situation, because they're able to push back against those who are committing the wrongs in the first place. Even if it doesn't work and could easily lead to them being beaten again.

I know this has been said before, but I love how the "Something Sweet" series just channels that 80s slasher energy. The plot feels like something you'd find in Trick'r'Treat (yeah i know that's not an 80s slasher but bear with me.) The absurdity of the situation, the sequels, the cliffhanger ending, these are all pretty much defining tropes of the slahser genre! Prolly my favorite MLP creepypasta.

So when I looked up rocket to insanity on KZbin a few years ago i found a really long story where Pinkie Pie actually survives and that tantibus thing that made Luna into Nightmare Moon was in her head and it had a happy ending. And I’m not gonna lie I genuinely enjoyed it, it was cheesy yeah and the random Twi-Dash was weird but it seemed like it could be an actual episode minus the murder and gore, also the one I watched had an art piece for the every scene which was really fun too, I think I’m gonna watch that again and see if it still holds up to me. Edit: I rewatched it and it still holds up it’s a nice change from a creepy pasta where it’s just “everyone dies from the demon that is so overpowered it will never even be challenged by someone” it’s a really good story imo and it’s actually an entire comic dub really good and the writing genuinely mirrors that of the actual show

The only thing I didn't like was how Rainbow Dash was written to be homophobic towards Twilight. Obviously kissing a friend when they're asleep is a no-go, but I think the story would've been better off not including the TwiDash stuff, it takes me out of the horror and leaves me bewildered. And, no, I don't have an issue with same-sex pairings. In fact, I like TwiDash, it's one of the cuter ships out there alongside FlutterDash and PinkieDash. Plus, I write about a lot of lesbian characters in my own stories, so I have no issues with that aspect. But in the fancomic continuation, it comes out of nowhere and doesn't lead to anything, aside from Rainbow Dash basically telling Twilight "Eww, I ain't into that..." and then brushes it under the rug, and it's never mentioned again. I liked the Tantabus character. Whilst screwing with Rainbow's head was a mean thing to do, I liked that he formed a close connection with Luna, which makes his eventual death both satisfying but heartbreaking at the same time, since he was starting to feel regret and remorse for his actions. Even Luna cries after the fact whilst the other ponies are celebrating. It's like every good moment has to be ruined by an unfortunate set of events. I have nothing against the fan artist who created the extended comic. It's just something I've noticed upon reflection with a lot of the popular fanfictions. The same applies to Rarity acting classist towards other races in the "Bride of Discord" and "Daughter of Discord" stories. It's unofficial, but it can affect people's perceptions of their favourite characters.

But yeah then they just brushed it under the rug like nothing happened after making such a big deal about it.

I got featured! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! Friendship Test isn't perfect, but it is better than the other one. It also has an alternate ending. It's okay. It's a happy ending. SIX Walk IN is still the best ponypasta I've ever read. There's no way it could be canon, but it's enjoyable. At least, to me. I think it deserves way more attention. Once I'm able, I'd love to draw fanart of it.

Sort of related, but I wish The Trotting Dead was made into a written series. Maybe some in the community know what I’m talking about, but the project is long dead, and there’s only one episode which leaves the viewers on a cliffhanger, so that’s kind of upsetting. I’m sure the creators have grown older and couldn’t continue the project, but it’s so sad that the team never continued it in neither a written story or as animation. When I heard you talk about something sweet to bite, I was super excited since I had loved that one for awhile! You can imagine my surprise when you talked about a version of something sweet to bite that I had quite literally never heard of.. I have to be honest. When watching this, I can think of are some Friday Night Funkin' mod concepts I came up with for various Pony Pastas, mainly role replacements/"mixes" of Vs. Sonic.exe and Mario's Madness. This mainly comes to mind because of Something Sweet to Bite and Scissor Twilight, whom I put in place of Coronation Day Peach and Curse of X respectively.

I actually did read all 9 something sweet to bite stories 😭😭 and I love them. Everything after Candymare goes to hell it gets pretty silly but this series does hold a solid place in my heart. Sad to know that there's no more but after reading the G5 one I couldn't blame them

My absolute favorite creepy MLP thing (saying a lot, I love pony horror) is Researcher Twilight. It started as a tumblr blog in the vein of Pinkamena Diane Pie/Little Miss Rarity, and a fanfic was written based off of it as well.

@@EffMinusAbout the same only with a lot more swearing on the candymares part for some reason. Shows up, massacres everybody, gets defeated, and sequel bait. Rinse and repeat hell the author added a multiverse as the original story was set in S2, but S2 candymare travels universes to S7-8 mlp. It has starswirl and his crew along with the mane 6 and sunset shimmer from equestria girls. The most random one was when she goes to hell, conquers it, then attacks heaven. Even worse there are multiple versions of candymare to keep track of one which was sent to hell(OG candymare), another belonging to the mlp season 7-8 world, and a G5 one. Putting this all into writing shows how much they jumped the shark in the series. Candymare is so strong she’s survived the most powerful spells and in the Equstria girls world a nuclear bomb

A Puppet To Her Fame is actually one of my favorite grimdark stories whthin the MLP fandom. I understand why some have problems with it, like when Octavia is being sassy towards her parents, especially towards her mom, because it involves more beatings from her. If I had to pick one character I cannot stand, it'll be the mom. There is a scene where she dumped the entire bowl of hot soup into her daughter's mouth, causing her to choke, holding her mouth and nose shut so she doesn't spit it out, and when her daughter was finally able to swallow it down painfully, was able to breathe again after she was released, she called her mom a souless witch. Then she realized she was about to vomit, all thanks to her mother, leaving her mom to cinch the bowtie tightly around her neck to keep her from throwing up, having her daughter to have the urge to kill her, breathe, and vomit, and her mom left her there without loosening up the bowtie until the mysterious strings and hooks saved her life.

The Researcher Twilight ask blog (almost positive its made by a different creator) is really good and incredibly messed up. Its actually a pretty sad story. Also I've heard Twilight's dollhouse is pretty good.

If a third part were ever made I’d love to see Truth Be Told be covered, it’s an older one but it’s great if you’re a fan of meta/older Mlp + body horror, the lost narrator has a dub of it that I suggest though as I said it is older so the quality isn’t *as good* as her newer stuff but it’s still quite good! definitely think it deserves more spotlight just from someone who’s a sucker for body horror and Mlp trivia in general :3👍

Worth mentioning that the Pinks/Dash relationship in Butterflies Wasnt out of nowhere. Its said theyre together, albiet somewhat casually, right at the start. Fluttershy is ALSO in love with Pinkie, theres a whole thing about her killing Rainbow as a "gift" for Pinkie Pie and stating more than once that she was jealous of Rainbow's relationship with Pinkie Pie and was so excited to share this with Pinkie because she believed Pinkie could understand and love her Lesbian icons
