Fair play to Bristol City, I thought they were the better side. Game really hinged on that Harris miss to make it 2-0. When will we get out first win or point on the road #OUFC fans. #BCFC fans and Oxford fans let me know your thoughts. Manning was the pantomime villain, but he had the last laugh.

very disappointed with the result today this was our best chance today to get something on the road really didn't think Bristol City were that great and looked nervous at the back Dembele frightened the life out of them when running direct not surprized he was involved in the goal, and for all Bristol's possession i didn't fancy them , and yes your bang on Sparky scores that sitter we win no doubt !! but disappointed with our reaction after that miss seemed easily beaten after that.
@OUFCFanViewАй бұрын
Cheers Paul. Bristol City had a ton of possession and I think that really did grind us down in the second half. Dembele was superb though, and I can't wait to see him play again, but other than him I didn't think we had much control. Don't think we were bad though and it is frustrating to throw points away on the road. Next away game is Pompey so that feels like a huge one for both clubs.

Early signs suggest that Oxford are going to be very difficult to beat at home. I won’t be confident about our return trip there ! Good support from you yesterday, a lot of our fans joined in with your chants of “sacked in the morning”
@OUFCFanViewАй бұрын
Thanks for the comment, Yeah we have had quite kind home fixtures, but next weekend we have Burnley and that should be a really tough test to the home form. Whats your view on Manning, do you think City are improving under him or just treading water.
@luked7256Ай бұрын
@@OUFCFanViewI think we’ve gone backwards. Our defense has gone from being the fourth best in the league to one of the worst so far this season.
@OUFCFanViewАй бұрын
@@luked7256 Which is surprising as when Manning was at Oxford the first thing he did was build a strong defence.
@robertallen913Ай бұрын
I know you’re right about moving on from Manning, but I must admit that I was hoping Oxford would win on Saturday and put him under pressure. If he’d been sacked as a result……, well I don’t think I’d lose much sleep! Listened to the game and it did sound like City were the better side, but the Harris incident was key. The home fans were certainly grumbling at the end of the 1st half and going 2 down would have only made matters worse. Brannagan is out for 6 weeks and we don’t know about McEachran does create some opportunities for players like Vaulks and maybe Dom Sibley too. Vaulks needs a few games to turn his reputation round. It’s harsh, but so far I just associate him with mistakes. Hopefully he gets a chance to show what he can do
@OUFCFanViewАй бұрын
The Harris miss really was crucial, and so unusual for him to miss it, as he has been excellent so far. Vaulks is such and experienced player that you wouldn't think he would lose confidence, but he almost has to play now in the next few games. I still think he is a good signing for us though. Big test next weekend, so really would have been nice to have at least 10 points on the board.

Hi Ian my name is Dodge. Just discovered your vlog today & i want to say i think its exactly qhat it should be a laugh with predictions & very honest review. Oh im a West Brom fan & i see Matty Phillips is injured yet again & i hope Kyle Edwards does a job for you but not sgsinst us.
@OUFCFanViewАй бұрын
Cheers Dodge, things are going well for the Baggies at the moment. Please do come back and comment when we play you in a couple of weeks. Phillips is injured, but for him it was only a slight injury, he should be back for Saturday (until he gets injured again). Really happy for Edwards, he is a very talented player and has had no luck with injuries. Good luck sir..... Until you play the mighty yellows of course.

We have to be more clinical in front of goal, different game if Harris scores. Losing Brannagan for a few weeks is not going to help going forward, others are going to need to step up.
@OUFCFanViewАй бұрын
Cheers Michael. I had a feeling Brannagan would be out for a while. The way Des Buckingham spoke about, and the fact we sent him for a scan in London made me think there was more to it, than just a slight knock. TBF to Harris he has been excellent this season, and that miss was really out of character. All we have to do is batter Burnley next weekend and we will be fine. 😜👍
@PaulScowenАй бұрын
I hope I’m wrong but this felt like a big game regardless of the Manning connection. City have been struggling and this looked like our best chance of points in an upcoming run of tough games. Not only would a win of had us sitting firmly in the leading pack, it would’ve also broken our away run of losses, which are at risk of becoming a monkey on our backs. On some level we are at risk of starting to lose belief when playing away and our opposition are going to feel encouraged that they are always in the game, even if we are ahead with away losses becoming habitual. Of course it could have been very different if Dembele’s effort had dipped in or Harris had tucked his chance away. With losses at home inevitable at some point we could find ourselves slipping rapidly down the table until we can start picking up a few points on the road.
@OUFCFanViewАй бұрын
Cheers Paul. I felt the same, and I guess it is a very small sample size, but I am a bit worried about it too. Puts extra pressure on the home games too. Think the next away game is Pompey which you would hope might be able to get something from. The difficulty of the Championship is evident though and we are going to have to get used to losing more than we win. AND WHO KNOWS, BURNLEY MIGHT GET 3 MEN SENT OFF. 👍😀
@PaulScowenАй бұрын
@@OUFCFanView small sample size but 100% so far. There’s noise about the extra effort the players are having to put in to these Championship games but the worry is it’s becoming an excuse for conceding late goals as there is a definite pattern forming. I think Buckingham has been incredible (we’ll do well to hold on to him…hands off Cardiff) but perhaps he needs to start thinking more about not losing once we get to around 70 mins and we are level or ahead. The reality is we need to average 1 point per game to stay up so turning some of these narrow loses to draws could be massive.
@spencerluton7721Ай бұрын
As a Bristol city fan at the game I felt sorry for Oxford to lose & on overall chances would of said it was more of a draw, obviously happy with the win but we are always so slow to start games & always seem better in 2nd half. Our Japanese winger Hirakawa looks decent & he was the one who made the difference for us, we are good (ish) going forward but awful at back as we are missing Pring at LB & Rob Dickie at CB
@OUFCFanViewАй бұрын
Cheers Spencer, you did look a bit sloppy at the back, and Oxford really should have punished City, especially with that chance Mark Harris missed. I was concerned with the way you seemed to pass it around Oxford with ease. Our midfield was bypassed a lot and from my point of view it felt like a lot of backs to the wall defending for most of the game. Whats your opinion on Manning. Is he doing a good or a bad job?
@spencerluton7721Ай бұрын
@@OUFCFanView I think he has done a good job since coming in but time will tell, can see what he is trying to build & can see him shouting instructions to his players during games when they aren’t doing what he expects of them. That said we have always had a solid foundation as our youth set up has been good past few years & finally seeing the fruits of that. I do think at times he is a little bit tactically inept & some substitutes have been confusing but he has brought all city fans renewed hope that we might achieve something & he certainly wants to play entertaining football, just our players aren’t at the level for us to pull that off just yet. I understand why so many oxfords fans were disappointed he left but he has left club in a good place & your manager seems decent too
@OUFCFanViewАй бұрын
@@spencerluton7721 Thanks for this. I never really begrudged Manning for leaving. It was just a bit of a shock. Anyway we are happy with Des Buckingham so it worked out for us.

I usually agree with what you say in your videos but I disagree with you this week. We didn’t play that badly, Bristol probably edged it but I thought before their equaliser, it was a good battling away performance. And Dane Scarlett made us worse when he came on. He gives us absolutely nothing and needs to be sent back to spurs
@OUFCFanViewАй бұрын
That's fine Darren we can't agree on everything. 👍 I thought we didn't have a lot of control of the game. Bristol City pretty much dominated possession and I think they created enough chances to win the game. That being said though, if Harris does put that chance away the narrative would have been different. It's almost like goals change games. 😜👍. I think you are being a bit harsh on Scarlett, we need to give him a chance. Anyway, not too worry, life in the Championship is tough and all we need to do is batter Burnley at home next week.

I think will vaulks should start if cammy is out. I just think with his experience that could help guys like tyler. In games like them, and if you have to bring on josh then do so but i would start with will, i think. I think we may have to take points of pompey and luton away. Thats the kind of teams we need to take points of. And i think we will. Onto burnley next big test huge test. But we cant be to negative we just need to keep getting behind the boys. Maybe am totally wrong in what i have just said.I still think we will be fine this season.
@OUFCFanViewАй бұрын
I think Vaulks will have to come in as McEachran went off injured too. Louis Sibley should be given some game time too. Going to be a huge test next weekend, bit I also am not too down hearted, but concerned that we may see a lot of away games where we are outplayed for large parts. Could become a mental block for the players if it goes on too long.
