I'm happy with that today. Once again we showed we are no pushovers. #OUFC and #Burnley fans let me know what you thought of this game. It was a bit of a snooze fest to be fair.
@ianhorsham7751Ай бұрын
Thanks Ian. I agree. I would add that Oxford must have done their homework. Brown at leftback was a great move.
@OUFCFanViewАй бұрын
Cheers to you too Ian. It was a surprising move, but it worked well. Whole back 4 was great and a very impressive debut for Ben Nelson.

Quite right. It was a great result. Felt a bit like playing a team from a higher league in the cup.

Thanks again Ian for your review. May have been a run of the mill game but how we've transformed. As Radio Oxford stated, this time last year we were being beaten by Cheltenham Town. There is certainly a greater positivity around the place. Gotta say the officials fell short today.
@OUFCFanViewАй бұрын
Cheers Malcolm. Hope you are well sir. Not a great game, but a most welcome result. The turnaround is amazing. At the start under Buckingham most games we were bemoaning the lack of plan, but no you can certainly see that the players a responding to his game plans. Just curious, what was the problem with the officials as I didn't think they were terrible.
@flyoverfredusaАй бұрын
Claret here, you defended very well and it's another great early season point for you. We were incredibly poor tbh but given you've won all three home games and all our injuries it's still a positive result. You are spot on about Foster btw and yes Koleosho is just ridiculous at this level. ZERO chance you get relegated. See you at the Turf later in the season
@OUFCFanViewАй бұрын
Thanks for your comment and for your kind words about Oxford. I didn't think Burnely were poor, just lacked a bit of cutting edge. From my point of view Burnley are the best side we have played with the way you moved the ball it was just the final pass or shot was off today. Good luck for the season, are you confident of going back up?
@flyoverfredusaАй бұрын
@@OUFCFanView too early to tell, our pre-season was wasted because we then sold pretty much everyone so Parker is having to start again. Being in the PL isn't much fun unless you are owned by a billionaire so I won't be too downhearted if we don't go up.

Might have been a boring game but we got something out of it, I’m sure Oxford fans would have taken that before kick off. It’s funny how everyone sees different things, I thought El Mizouni was the stand out today.

Cheers Michael, very happy with the point and I agree everyone has a different take on things. I had another comment saying Peter Kioso is the weak link at the back where I thought he was excellent.

We invited them to play to much I think. Kioso is very questionable. I’m not sure he cares. Referring was poor. We were anxious and quiet in the stands. We rallied 2nd half and the team responded. The last 15 minutes had me thinking we had the better chance at going with 3 points but ultimately a draw is a good result against this side. We need points in Luton on Tuesday.
@OUFCFanViewАй бұрын
Thanks for the comments. Disagree with your take on Kioso actually thought he was very good today. These games are not going to be that much fun if we sit back too much, but Buckingham clearly feels we can't go toe to toe with a side like Burnley and he is prilobably right. I am not too confident for Tuesday, but feel we may get something at Portsmouth on Saturday. COYY

Very positive to see us capable of shutting down one of the top teams in the division so effectively. We are ahead of the survival curve with around 21% of the points likely needed for survival after just 15% of the games played. I thought Brown got skinned a couple of times and with Bennett out and Brown moved to left back, Leigh has got to be wondering what he’s got to do to get a run in the team? I get that Des feels that his full backs getting forward creates vulnerabilities which is why he puts so much weight on his wingers but Leigh has pace, has been good in every game he’s played, adds a genuine goal threat at the back stick and I’m sure can understand game plans and check his forward forays when the opposition/game requires it. Who’d have thought McEachran would be a key miss. The primary trait of a CDM has surely got to be reliability and Vaulks is showing he has a wrick in him every game. Overall a very positive performance and one that should give us confidence with Sunderland and West Brom coming up 💪
@OUFCFanViewАй бұрын
Cheers Paul, nice stats there. Think like most people we were hopeful of a good start to squirrell away some points in case we have a long barren run. Certainly a point gained on this one, and it would be nice if we can get something from 1 of the next 2 away games. The Leigh situation is strange as you would think he has all the attributes that Brown has, but I did think Brown was good. Also thought Vaulks was good and over the long term I think he will the regular CDM over McEachran.

Not a game fans will remember in a few months, but I’m so pleased Oxford are not a soft touch. I worried we’d look out of our depth, and whilst yesterday’s match showed the gulf in quality between the teams, Oxford fought every step of the way. With players like Nelson and Edwards coming into the reckoning, there’s a lot of strength in depth with the side. Radio Oxford were hyping Dane Scarlett up. They are hearing he’s really impressing in training. He just now needs to take advantage of his sub appearances. Vaulks is an odd case. Experienced pro, and by all accounts had a decent game, but just seems to have these brain farts every match and give the ball away.
@OUFCFanViewАй бұрын
Vaulks was good on Saturday overall and hopefully gained a bit of confidence. Feels sorry for Scarlett as I get the feeling that a lot of fans seem to be against him without giving him a chance. Overall very happy with the point. I wonder if fans will be happy with that kind of performance if we see it week in week out for a few months.

Claret here and in all fairness it was a going to sleep match. A draw was the only fair result. We were terrible in the final third and our centre half’s only know how to pass sidewards. Good luck for the rest of the season UTC
@OUFCFanViewАй бұрын
Thanks for the comment and good luck to you too. 2 sides to the coin and the point was good for us so I was kicking and heading every ball in the final 10-15 minutes. In terms of the way you passed the ball around you were the best side we have played. As you said it was just the final third which let you down.
@danielconnolly8565Ай бұрын
We don’t particularly like Lyle Foster, either! He’s completely useless. We’ve no chance of promotion with him as our main striker. Had a great chat with a couple of Oxford fans over a pint before the match. Proper fans. You played and defended really well. We are rubbish at the moment but somehow 4th in the league. Good luck for the season.
@OUFCFanViewАй бұрын
Cheers Daniel, don't think you were rubbish, just lacked a bit of cutting edge. From my point of view this was a step up in quality from what Oxford ha e played so far. Good luck for the season. Great result against an ex premier team. Again looking at Burnley forum we were the worst team ever, one said we couldn’t even defend😂 keep these results coming, some we’ll win, some we’ll lose or draw but you can’t deny Des’s tactical nous. Of course Burnley were the better team but they’ve spent millions. Were the minnows, COYY!
