Just an added note, you can bring back bed bugs EGGS on your shoes & clothes. Also Rorch eggs. Bring clean clothes , & shoes & clean towel in a bag then take a shower, change, spray your shoes with a disinfection spray before getting into the car. Put the bag of cloths in the first bag into a clean bag when putting into the car. Seems like alot of work but believe me, bed bugs ect. are very nasty filthy dirty things that bite & you can't feel the bite, they have a trillion kiddies in no time & they are almost impossible to get rid of. There is a powder that doesn't hurt animals or humans but bed bugs crawl on it, their bodies get scraped, they dry out & die. You can find the stuff on line. The little bastards (bed bugs) can go up to a year without eatting. They don't like water mixed with dish soap eighter. Anyway, please be careful, esp. with bugs. Esp. Bed bugs.

Thanks to your channel, I strip the beds before I commit to a hotel room. I actually had a bedbug infestation in my senior year college apartment 10 years ago and still have the scars. It was so bad that I ended up literally sleeping in an inflatable kiddie pool in the living room as 1) it was the only uninfested room and 2) bedbugs can't climb vinyl. That was a fun few months during finals!

I literally cycled through two futons, a blow-up mattress, and a folding camp cot with the legs smeared in Vaseline before resorting to the kiddie pool. This was within an 8 month period. Bedbugs are tenacious bastards, and bizarrely smell like raspberries. ETA: the worst part wasn't even the bites, it was the feeling like you were "dirty" even if it wasn't your fault. It's a stigmatized thing, in a way. I only told one friend about it, and bless her, she still sat next to me in class.

Oh my god! I passed this place every day for two years when I worked in downtown Cleveland and I didn't know it was a real business until now. This is horrifying. There's so much real estate blight and abandoned buildings where people do drugs that it just blended in. There's so much hope in Cleveland yet so much of it is still beaten down that I fear that restoration efforts are too little too late.

Really it just depends where you go in the city. Some parts are in a boom, others are at an all time low. I mean, I'm at university circle and a ton of development is underway here, but at the same time Euclid Ave. cuts straight through the center of everything. Case has 2 security teams (one being Cleveland cops, the other being campus police), along with UH and CC having their own cops, just because of how bad it gets at night. We had 25 security alerts my freshman year. Like every major rust-belt city (Chicag, Detroit, etc) there's a lot of good and a lot of bad. I grew up hopping between downtown and Parma so I'm used to it, but other people are surprised by how bad some areas actually get. Overall I'd say there's been improvement, but at the same time there are some areas that I think are just too far gone to ever bounce back. Only time will tell however.

There’s something seriously wrong with this video: Jake isn’t wearing his signature salmon colored shorts. And yes, Brennen, it is the DMZ. All of Cleveland is the DMZ. It’s the buffer zone between Ohio and Canada. Sometimes we play loudspeakers facing north, but the sound never makes its way across that large pond that we share with y’all. Also I’m beginning to think you guys should wear a hazmat suit, or at a minimum a tyvek suit, in Rick’s presence. At this point in the series he has to have about seven diseases. That bug in the magnifying glass was absolutely a bed bug. And I'm pretty sure diatomaceous earth is one of the safest things you can use for bugs and is said to be harmless to humans and pets.

Another series where you secretly get into crappy places like this and renovate the room to be amazing and record the reactions of the owners when you call them in for some other reason. Then you can see what is really hidden all over the place. I would LOVE To see a show where you did a renovation. Just saying. Rick with a sledgehammer.

I live in the suburbs of Cleveland, and right after you posted this I had to drive past this and noticed there was a huge For Sale sign on the building.
