No joke I literally have Phoebe’s cheat sheet “brake-left gas-right” hanging up in my car. I had a big problem remembering which was which when I first started driving. I took a corner really fast and hit a fire hydrant. Even now when driving gets really stressful (weather, traffic, bad roads, etc.) I still glance at it 😅

The Fun Bobby storyline is actually pretty true and sad. It reminds me of my dad. He's always been both pretty grumpy and VERY emotionally distant towards me and the family, but when he's been drinking he actually opens up and listens. I know he means what he says but I need to hear him say it sober. Alcoholism runs in my family so I've decided to pretty much avoid alcohol (besides the occasional cocktail) because I've seen how it destroys people and families. I also just don't like the taste of most of it. I actually don't think many people do, because the main thing they are after are the effects. I think it's crazy that we live in this culture where alcohol is just normalised and people even think you're weird if you don't drink, like you must be an alcoholic. On a lighter note, Gunther (Rachel's boss at Central Perk) has his first line in episode 9 but he was supposed to be a silent guest cast member. However, since James Michael Tyler was the only actor who knew how to work a cappuccino machine, he became a series regular. He was actually a barista in real life and when he started to appear in more episodes of Friends, he quit to work full time on the show. Also, June Gable, who plays Joey's agent Estelle, appeared before as a nurse assisting Carol giving birth to Ben and the other woman Joey was helping.

After Mom developed epilesy, I had to start going downstairs at 3am, to wake Dad who had passed out on the carpet, still holding his glass of scotch with a death grip, didnt spill any. After she passed, it became a regular thing and the only time he would be truthful with me was after he'd been drinking. Sober, he was mean and expected things of me that he knew I was incapable of, drunk he'd tell me how worried he was that I wasnt gonna survive if I didnt marry because who was gonna look after me after he was gone? to him I was redacted due to my mental illness(BPD is light years away from what he thought I was). His lack of faith in my ability to take care of myself(eight years alone, managing) but I suppose he thought he was trying to show that he cared. He found it VERY difficult to show emotions when I was growing up unless he'd been drinking. All we ever saw was rage when sober or this flat affect. He was Silent Gen. I guess its harder for that generation to open up without help.

A friend of mine was pre-vet and got to live on the farm housing at Potomac State in Keyser, WV with the condition that she worked on the farm. I never saw her do it but when I went to visit for the first time and met the farm manager, he was literally elbow deep up a cow's butt and neither the cow nor the man seemed phased by it. He just carried on a conversation with me with his hand up a cow! It's DEFINITELY a sight you can't unsee! You're right about that. I got to feed the calves and help milk the cows. It was fun.

Lorne Greene was Adama on the original Battlestar Galactica and Galactaca 1980. He was incredibly famous for playing patriarch Ben Cartwright in Bonanza, a western that took place on the Ponderosa ranch, which ran from 1958 to 1973 and had 430 episodes. I was 3 when it went off the air, but my parents watched reruns religiously. It also starred Michael Landon (Charles Ingalls, Little House on the Prairie) as his son.

This episode always kind of bugged me lol. Obviously picking apart a sitcom is easy to do and I usually go with the flow, but the average temperature for a NYC night at Christmastime is in the 30s. Not only wouldn’t the apartment have been sweltering with the windows open, it likely would be freezing in there. C’mon writers! 😂
@Itmustbe_bunnies Жыл бұрын
30s isn't that cold. I live in Michigan, and my apartment runs warm, so I leave my bedroom window open throughout the winter and I rarely get chilly. I don't even bother to wear a coat outside when it's in the 30s, unless I am out there for hours.

I was visiting a huge farm in Colombia and my veterinarian friend who ran the farm rushed over and helped a cow give birth. I watched her literally reach her hands in and help pull the calf out (without warning me what I was about to witness, I might add 😂) Then she came back and laughed in my horrified face. I’ve been in therapy ever since… (ok that last part might not be true, but the rest, unfortunately for me, 100% happened haha)
