I’m a GenX who went bowling with my Alpha niece and nephew today. Whoo! I have met my match with those two! My other nephew, who is a young Z, is totally screen addicted. My little alphas, they give flying tackle hugs, completely oblivious to the harm they are doing to creaky old farts. It’s glorious!

My grandfather had something better in the woods behind his house in Texas. He'd made a zipline from a 1" steel cable or such strung above a platform between two trees which then ran down a hill, across a ditch and snapped at the other end where it was tied around another tree. Your whole body would swing up, then back down where you'd then glide back to the other side of the ditch and hop off. A nylon rope attached below the seat allowed you to run it back up to the platform for the next rider. Local church youth groups used to make trips out to his house and spend the day having fun in the shaded sun... until he died and my aunt inherited that portion of his estate. Her p.o.s husband cut it down to avoid any injury suits. Just another (albeit personal) reason why I miss the 80's =(

@@AClockworkOnion ?? how about be an accurate one too. As in I have seen TONS of gen x videos on Gen x and and not one said they created playing out side or claimed to crate. They claimed and did have a vastly higher percentage of kids who played outside like generations BEFORE them. As in kids are rasied by the internet and TV now more than ever. To think otherwise is painfully naive. They are the ONLY generation to be raised without and then with internet tech. Thats what these and other videos are about. Be a good one whatever you are yes. But please be accurate. And saying no different. Just standard anecdotal looking around and observing and people watching for decades of life says that is just about the stillest thing i think anyone has ever said.

I never see the 6' toboggans of my youth anywhere. my 3 bros and I would drag those sleds of breath stopping speeds to the highest hill we could find. plenty of other kids with METAL saucers, flexible flyers, cardboard, etc - not ONE parent in sight! wipe-outs were actually kinda fun, we'd bail off the sled if heading for a tree and brush ourselves off, go back up the hill, and try to aim better. no helmets, no nothing. skating was on a pond you hoped was frozen over (usually the heaviest kid was sent out) and it was our swimming hole in warmer times. parent-less good times!

Omg! This reminds me of when my brothers and I used to slide down the stairs in a barrel. Dangerous yes, did we get hurt no! We are all here today 38, 39, and 41.

Reminds me of shopping trolley down hill races. Six trolleys 12 mates. 1 in each trolley and the others pushing them of the start of a monster hill. The good old days.

These kids are gen X improved. Doing smart, dumb shit but with the good sense to wear a helmet before flipping twice over a curb. Love this new generation! They are going places!

I'm a teacher of Gen A. I Teach them the OLD WAYS. I let them hurt themselves. I let them have fun. I let them explore....ive broken both arms, am covered in scars i dont even remember getting, and my jaw still clicks from crashes, and fights, deep into my 40s. Thes kids will earn thier scars, and memories! Now go outside and dont come back until the street lights come on.!

The only thing that would have made this better would have been if dad was quietly watching the whole thing unfold while smoking a cigarette.

We used to see who could walk the farthest out on Grandpa’s frozen pond before chickening out & coming back when the ice cracked. We tied ropes around the waist of the kid walking out so we could pull them in if they fell through. 🤣
