Another Farm Bites The Dust - John Deere 9510

We finish another farm of Dad's, and I drop another hint of what could be our next purchase!
How Farms Work by Ryan Kuster is a KZbin channel based in rural Potosi, Wisconsin.
Our mission is to teach those who didn't grow up on a farm what the farming life is like.
These videos show the Kuster family working together raising cattle and crops. We believe everyone who wants to know more about farming should be able to share the farming experience with us and we look to educate the world on many essential agriculture topics.
How Farms Work takes place on ~1,100 acres with around 75-200 cattle at any given time. Four John Deere tractors are currently used on the farm, which are a 4020, 4640, 7600, and 8235R.

Greetings from Canada. Our beans are done. Corn at 23% so waiting a bit longer. Watch your dogs around the wagons. We backed over our dog at the grain dryer a few years ago. He laid down behind the rear wheel. Broke our hearts. I think you’re buying a case IH combine. Good machine lots of them around our area.

I don't know if it's the farmer in me, but just the sound of equipment with a bit of background music just mesmerized me. And I am either betting on a grain truck (a dump bed truck would work great for your farm) or a chisel plow since your current one Travis hates. Great video and hope harvest keeps moving smoothly!

I could watch your videos like a kid watching fire. I was a (small) city boy, and spent a career in heavy industry as an electrical engineer. But, the summer between my college freshman & sophomore years, I worked as a hired hand on á rice farm near Katy, Texas. The work was demanding but satisfying. My boss was the farm owner. He was a big, strong, hard working guy. He set reasonable expectations and expected them to be met. He was the boss from heaven. I still wonder what life would have been like if only....

Looks a pretty good yield of soy bean giving the size and spread of the plants. Thats a good idea to diversify the crop in the fields, It's easier on the soil and if one crop is paying a lower price the other will pick up the difference.

Seeing you shift your 4640 out of park makes me think about ours; 9/10 times you put ours in park it won’t shift out of it so we normally just leave that one in gear and put the loader up front down. We’ve had it looked into but never gotten it fixed and since it’s not a daily use tractor it’s not a major deal.

My guess would be a Case Tractor or Case Tractor. Far fetch might be a Versatile Tractor, but thats yellow and red. Either way it'll be something new. Love your channel and what you do.

Well, I know it won't be a GREAT RED TRACTOR because you are a green man. So it has to be grain related, a wagon or cart. Nice video.!

One machine I know you have been watching is a skid steer but I'm not convinced yet. The only full red skid steer out there is Case. Another option would be a tractor but I think you will always stick with John Deere. Third possibly is a larger grain cart. Travis talked about getting a grain cart awhile back. So that's a stronger choice. Maybe a small grain truck. But I don't see the need for financing because you can get older ones for cheap. Rhino is orange so that is ruled out. Already have a truck. Back to the grain cart. I think you would have hinted more about getting rid of the ez trail to make way for a bigger cart. Not convinced on that yet. Need more info.

Red and need financing....sounds like a big potential purchase. I don’t think that will be a cart. Either a grain truck/semi, combine or maybe a tractor I remember you mentioning maybe buying one for yourself one day. Going with combine because I like those best :)

My revised guess - Not tractor, not combine, Nothing Rhino, not truck conventional or semi, - I think it will be a bigger grain cart or grain wagon or it will be a Meyer Manure Spreader. A bigger grain cart would replace the E-Z Trail, a bigger grain wagon would be additional, and the spreader would replace any and all others. sdh in the Tobacco Valley of CT

@@jeffgixer5185 it's something travis has talked about wanting, since some of the places he hauls is dangerously steep, and Ryan has mentioned is a hold up waiting for travis to return. They mentioned cash flow being an issues so a grain wagon with breaks makes more sense. It's the only way the 7600 could handle more grain behind it. Buying a truck or another tractor was mentioned before to cost more than their operation could justify this year.

@@BillTheTractorMan I am aware of all that but if you look at the situation currently, their bins are full, and the moisture is coming down that it doesn't pay to dry it and they can ship it right to the terminal. They won't be hauling as much with the wagons.

@@jeffgixer5185 farming has a lot more than just this moment. Especially with equipment. If this used piece happens to show up you jump on it. Just a week ago they couldn't haul enough grain fast enough to store it. They also mentioned adding storage capacity over the next few years.

In that time I have bought a lot of equipment and learned that you jump on things that appear to be good deals in the heat of the moment. Major purchases have to be thought out. And for the magic piece of equipment that you can't do without that just popped up, there are ten or twenty more out their. Now that being said. It doesn't matter what you think he should buy or what I think they should buy or anyone else thinks they should. The only one that matters is the guy signing the check to pay for it. I am confident that Ryan in this case has considered everything and will make the best decision for them. I might or might not agree but then again I am not signing on the bottom line.
