Love the irregular patchwork that the previous quilter used to put together her pattern. Your swirl design and backing/binding sets it off perfectly. Good to see the swirl demonstrated for us newbies. Love watching you work. So restful. Nice of the guild to make these quilts for people who need them. Someone will have a lifetime keepsake. Very inspiring.

I love the quilting community for how generous they are. I am one who worries about you not using gloves, must be such strain on your neck and shoulders. My solution to that issue was that I cut the top of the thumb and forefinger off my gloves so I am still able to do things 👍🏻 Keep up the fantastic work and Happy New Year for 2022

That’s a very happy quilt and your quilting really sets it off. I just wish I could get my stitches as beautiful as yours. I end up with eyelashes every time I fm and just cannot get the rhythm my little brother machine requires for regular stitches. So I just straight line quilt.

Another beauty! Thanks Beth. Wanted to voice my opinion if that’s ok. I agree whole heartedly that quilting gloves most definitely help with the fmq however I originally started with the cheaper gardening gloves and although they did work better then not wearing gloves - IMO- there isn’t any comparison between actual quilting gloves and gardening gloves. The gardening gloves are not nearly as comfortable nor do the fit “like a glove” to your hands. I found them cumbersome. For the price of the fmq gloves the cost increase is really very little. It is very possible to purchase actual quilting gloves for under $10. I also tend to add on an extra pair of fmq gloves when placing an order and just need a few more dollars to be eligible for free shipping 😘. I don’t know if you have had the opportunity to try the actual quilting gloves- but if not, you may really like them and not find them as annoying and cumbersome. Loved your video and sew enjoy your channel !

Lovely! One of my favorite patterns for free motion quilting. I practice on paper first, then I use scraps of unbleached muslin and batting to make a quilt top for a pet pillow dog bed that I fill with fabric scraps and stuffing. That way there's no waste and the shelter benefits too ☺️

Workout gloves have open fingers and grippy palms. They are comfortable and effective. I got the idea from seeing a custom glove maker (for quilting) demonstrate the gloves. I was in Tuesday Morning and saw workout gloves and decided to experiment. Working from the palm and getting off the fingertips reduced strain. I gave it a try this weekend. Very comfortable and complete finger freedom. Wrist closure also provided hand support.

@@bethshibleyquilts I basted my quilt on my design wall for the first time this weekend. I use homemade basting spray or fusible web. I bought basting spray for first time. The dreaded chore was much easier. I have a 96 by 96 design wall. I will use this method for all future quilts. I used June tailor basting spray (requires cotton everything to was out). Great price point and effective.

When you are doing your binding, at 7:28-29, you do it differently than I have seen before. It looks like you fold the first sewn end at a 45 angle, then tuck the last end into it and finish attaching it. Then you do the front. Is that all there is to it?

On a busy pattern like that how do you see where you're going or where you've been? I still have to draw out my patterns on the fabric but I hit points where I can't see where the line is or where I need to go.
