The K-Line is more scale than the Lionel so it depends on the price paid if they are anywhere close, the K-Line would be my choice (I love Mikado's)!

Nice. Gorgeous engine. I think the K-Line version looks better, at least in the video it seems to have more detail. Also recently I’ve really been enjoying some older K-line, so maybe that’s just where my brain is.

I have an HO scale train layout, it's a 4x8 layout. And the engines I have is a Broadway Limited Imports Union Pacific Big Boy Locomotive number 4008, and I have a Lionel HO Polar Express Locomotive and passenger cars, the Polar Express needs some work but I love it. All though I am planning to build an O Scale layout in the future, nice locomotive you got Peachy's Trains, keep buying trains.

Peaches, The K Line Mikado steam locomotive is alot better then the lionel lion chief Mikado steam locomotive, and the K Line has more details to it.❤❤❤❤❤

I like the newest one the best, it has the front bell, white walls, and the bigger 6 axle tender. My first comment been subscribed for a while, not my gauge as I do HO but it is cool to see a female get into the hobby and greetings from TN :)

Great engine. Really enjoy your videos. On my layout, I like to run 4-4-0s, small steam engines and small diesel engines. Sometimes with space on layout, a larger steam or diesel

I prefer the K-Line. The major difference between the two that I noticed is the there are some details of something right on the top of the boiler immediately i front of the cab roof of the Lionel, where the K-Line version has what may be a housing covering the same items. All the locomotives on my American Flyer 1s gauge layout are steam locomotives. I have had diesels in the past, and may get one or two, but steams engines are more visually appealing, because of the moving parts associated with the wheels. From G sale, down to Z or TT, the moving drivers on the steam locomotives can be seen in action.

Great find with that K-Line Mikado Peachy! (And don't we ALL go to train shows not intending to buy anything? 🤣🤣🤣) Sure there's differences between your 4501 and the 4815. The one that jumps out at me is the difference in the boiler barrels of the two, but maybe we can explain that away with the different side numbers. Depending on the series (4500 vs 4800) there could very well have been and most likely were variations in Southern Mikados depending on who built them. Baldwin, Alco, Lima, or Richmond. AND we can't forget the USRA "Light" and "Heavy" Mikados, those are in the mix as well. It's certainly nothing to obsess over. AND 4815's a looker! What do I like to run? Mostly steam of course! Although I'm not averse to running diesels if I can get 'em on sale! 🤩 Fun video! As always, thanks for posting!

Detail differences happened as locomotives were shopped over the years. A little research might show you that both are accurate. Otherwise, don't worry about it and just enjoy them. They're both beautiful. Nice find.

Nice comparison between the Lionel and Kline mikado! The dirtiness of the Kline mikado kinda makes it look a little weathered. Sound problems were pretty common for those older Kline locomotives. They still sound very good though by today’s standards. The engines I like to run from Lionel, MTH and Kline are the engines from the Santa Fe, Southern pacific, Union Pacific, New York central, Pennsylvania and Jersey Central Railway

I have a Lionel K4 from 2003 ish that I bought 2nd hand for my birthday and I love to watch it go around the track. I’m just waiting on a new smoke stack from Lionel so I can get it smoking again hopefully

I love the Mikados K Line made, the most frustrating thing is that those engines were not released with cruise (there a few that are hiding out there). I just gutted my PRR one and added PS3 🚂💨

Don’t feel Bad my wife And I Got some Stuff.I got a New Engine It was a N Scale Engine I Was Looking Forward To a Ho Steamer. All Good And I So Bought A Tech II Controller And I Love it. Next Train Show Will Be In Oct and I Will Find What I Am Looking For.Love your Engines Don’t Stop Shopping for your Engines👍👍👍👍.

I really like how the bell is placed on the 4815. The bell on the 4501 should be placed in the very same manner, in accordance to Southern Railway operating practices.

Just beautiful Peach 🚂 Here in Southern Ontario we have a model RR show coming up in Port Hope, and my Lionel mates & I will be there with our modular layout 😊 We use O gauge track which enables us to run older/pre-war stuff

I'm going with the K-Line engine. The details look better along with the tender being longer. Without consulting old Southern Steam engine pictures, I would say the K-Line engine matches more of the prototype.

Nice! When I started moving to scale, K Line was my first choice for value and looks. I have several K Line scale steam engines and they all work well. Easier to take care off.

Yes the one pick-up on the center rail is best to have two or more, also on one of my K-line's the tender had two pick-ups but only one was working I opened the tender and and on this model they had separate plugs for each wheel pick-up I switched them and the only the other pick-up worked, so I will either just wire them together or check the circuit board to see why the other socket is not working but they both do the same thing so it was weird to me. Also most of thess like the Lionel and the MTH you can put in a reachable battery, but it has to be the higher voltage one, DC 8.4V, as best I can tell. The normal rechargeable is 7.2 volts and might not work out well. Also best to charge the battery first.

Very nice addition to your collection. To answer your question. I like everything o gauge. I like all brands. I like all RR lines. I tend to drift towards the Wisconsin theme rail lines like the Milwaukee Road. I love Kline products. However. I’m pretty shy about buying second hand command locomotives. Basically I won’t buy it without some kind of warranty. I recently purchased a lionmaster locomotive from 2010. But the hobby shop gave me 30 days. I was ok with that. Works great by the way. But there’s nothing worse then buying a locomotive for a few hundred bucks and it’s dead on the tracks. Glad your husband got yours going. I’ve had to run back to the train show the next day and track down the dealer from the day before. Enjoyed the video.

Just a bit of advice, if the train show has a test track available use it! It'll save you some grief and the seller some embarassment. At our VTCA shows we always have test tracks available for the various sizes. The overwhelming majority of sellers are good people and want to do the right thing but sometimes cranky engines can slip through the cracks and depending how much stock they've got they just can't check them all.

Nice Mikado Peachy! I like the whistle on the model! Where was the train show? It must have been a great one. I am a member of the Somerset County 4-H Trainmasters in NJ, and we’re having a train show this weekend! I’ll be uploading a lot of videos this weekend! I don’t have any K-Line engines. I have a huge fleet of engines. My layout features LionChief, LCP, LCP 2.0, Legacy, and some MTH engines.
