The fact that Charlie Brown got nothing but a bag full of rocks completely irks me. I mean, I know it's a cartoon and everything, but do people REALLY think of Charlie Brown as THAT much of a lost cause that even adults have to go about seeing him that way to the point of denying him any treats like what they give to the other kids?? I understand the fact that Charlie Brown's role in the PEANUTS cartoons is that he's a socially awkward and somewhat neurotic kid who's often plagued by insecurities, which we all understand is the source of all the problems he goes through, but still, we need to cut him a break. He may be a bit shy but that's OK; we all have our insecurities.

He would have learned that the Great Pumpkin isn't real if the letter carriers had reported the letter to the Great Pumpkin to police, claiming "somebody is creating extra work for us letter carriers, having us try to get mail to a destination that doesn't exist", the police would obtain necessary permission from the court to open it, seeing the postscript of the letter saying "Many people say you're a fake. If you are, don't tell me. I don't want to know" responding with "This isn't religion. It is provable that this "Great Pumpkin" isn't real" and subsequently are taking fingerprints and tracing this letter to Linus, Linus would have had to go to court (would Lucy have even helped him get a lawyer?) and the judge would sentence Linus in a manner that would tell Linus that the Great Pumpkin isn't real. If the sentence was a heavy fine, would Lucy have helped Linus get the money to pay the fine he was sentenced to? Even in the universe this movie takes place in, the letter carriers know for a fact that the Great Pumpkin isn't real.

Every time I heard Charlie Brown say that line, “Well, another Halloween has come and gone,” I apply for every passing holiday. It seems like a very melancholy thing to say but in a way, it’s reassuring when that line takes a little bit different spin for other holidays and periods in life. They’re not the only ones who had a sucky Halloween! I had a sucky Halloween too! During trick or treat night, I wanted to go trick or treating with my brother but he didn’t want me to go probably because he thought it’d be embarrassing! So I passed out candy but we didn’t get that many trick or treaters. And on actual Halloween day there was supposed to be a party and hardly anyone was there! So it got postponed to the first Monday in November! But I didn’t go cause I had a hair appointment. I wanted to host a Halloween party of my own but I was worried no one would come since no one would come to my birthday party. And watching this clip makes me feel better about my Halloween.

The reason why Charlie Brown got rocks when he went trick or treating because the people didn’t like his costume with all those holes in it.

Charlie Brown's bag full of rocks was simply a reinforcement of his 'lovable loser' character.

You can add Ted Turner to the list. I remember when he bought the rights to "The Grinch" and aired it only on TNT. Hey, Ted, what about those that didn't have cable/satellite?
