he did a card trick where the actual card would be right near him, then he licked the palm of his hand so the card will get stuck to his hand.

It is explained on his DVD actually it is very easy to deduct also. Its very basic card control really. Bill is a master card manipulator but you can even do it with less of a flashy display like he does.
