Today I have a look at a Jeep Wrangler that has the same O2 heater issues that we had in another Jeep a few years back • Jeep Wrangler: O2 Heat... . Bad grounds are pretty common but remember to not to jump to conclusions and always test first! -Enjoy!

Whenever I start a video I don't know where it is going to lead me until I get into it. Once I see it is something we have already covered (besides brake jobs) I usually just scrap the video and move on. For what ever reason in this case I kept goin but just cut it a little short. In my 40 years in this business, I have seen it happen more than twice. Granted that these vehicles were also used off road a lot but it's always best to check before throwing parts. When you find 4 bad O2s, it makes you second guess your diag, your info, and/or your equipment. LOL, What's the chances of all four parking light bulbs being burned out at once? Or both headlights? Seen it happen several times as well. I learned years ago that if all the lights don't work, check the fuses and if the fuses are good check the bulbs next. The thing is many people don't keep their vehicles in good working shape. If the check engine light is on but it drives with little hassle, they go. The Jeep in this video was only getting fixed so they could pass emissions testing for the inspection. Probably for license plate renewal (I'm not sure how NY does that). From the looks of that ground connection, it had been bad for a while. The O2 heaters turn off after the exhaust heats up so there probably wasn't a big drivability issue especially for the gas and go types.

@@billfear1 I thought I had made my point. Why you felt the need to say he'd "never be rich" is beyond me. It's as though you're saying "as far as I'm concerned you'll never be truly successful but at least you are a decent mechanic". Why do you feel the need to belittle others like that? Just based off SMA's sub and view counts, I'd say Eric is doing fine financially. Trump owns and invests in hotels, Eric owns and invests in SMA. I think that by any reasonable standard or definition, Eric is a rich man. Though how rich is really none of our business. Eric has managed to create multiple streams of income with his skill, knowledge, character and work ethic. All of which points to him being quite successful. I cannot fathom how you would think otherwise.

I worked for a GM dealer as a parts mgr in the late 80s and early 90s. Grounds were the first thing our technicians would check for any electrical problem. My nephew asked me what was wrong with his sons car after the dealer replaced every sensor on the car including the PCM. I told him have them check the engine grounds. He thought they had but he brought it to an independent repair shop and they fixed the broken ground wire on an engine stud and gave the car back to him.

I have to wonder how many of us would still be scratching our heads if not for the miracle of KZbin video. The only thing that I could suggest to make the video better is gather all the diagnosis information without telling us what’s wrong with it. My 2010 Patriot has been nothing but ground problems. I'm down to the 4WD! warning light popping on at every startup when I hit 1 mile. t may be a ground or a sensor. Now I'll probably need to take it into a shop so they can scan it. Thanks for posting a ground wiring issue with a Jeep product.. MD..............

I am glad you redid the same issue on this Jeep. It reinforces the first one in a big way. We don't suffer the terrible corrosion problems you folks have about the termite line and as a result we don't see nearly so many corroded ground lugs. This is a very interesting point you make in that the symptoms led you straight to the culprit due to previously experiencing this same issue and remembering it. I remember the hassles, the hardest ones to figure out, and i guess seeing this video bolsters my convictions to trust to my own common sense when faced with a problem like all four O2 sensors seemingly failing at once. Good call and explaining the logic works best of all for me. Thank You Eric O!

First time viewer. It is amazing what a good mechanic with the proper tools (professional scan tool) can do to save the customer money on parts that don't need to be replaced. That poor guy threw at least $500 in parts at it and still had the same problems when all he had was $5.00 worth of wiring and ground connectors needed.

Parts swappers have cost consumers millions over the years. Paying a mechanic to guess doesn't lead to customer satisfaction but rather mistrust of the auto repair industry. With cars becoming more and more complex it's only going to get worse.

This goes for mechanics, plumbers, roofers, electricians, landscaping, dental, every corner is corrupt as it was written many years ago that it would be so.

@@guyazbell7437 - apparently you don't know many mechanics. I been doing this for 40 years and I can recall only two mechanics who I know would cheat people. Some shops are expensive on their labor rate and parts mark up but they're not cheating people.

@@meabob obviously, there are a lot of dishonest mechanics out there the cheap people. I have lost count of how many videos Eric has posted on his channel exposing other shops for screwing customers. There are a lot more dishonest mechanics out there than you think. let me correct what I said, Eric does not expose the shops for screwing people. Give me really points out that there is some random shop in upstate New York that is screwing a customer and then sending the vehicle to him. He is an honorable man though, and does not give the name of the unscrupulous and dishonest shop that is screwing the customers.
