Resist less is absolutely life changing! I practice that in all areas and it has resulted in a more peaceful, joyful existence! I also hold people and things in my hands very loosely - after years of clutching and clinging - this is also resulted in a much more peaceful life! And I’m only 70-😊!!

This is 100% true. That has been an evolution for me too. It’s a much more relaxed existence when we’re not death-gripping the people we love!

OMG - the baby blanket just continues to be so beautiful! And thank you for highlighting all these patterns! I think you are so smart to know when you need a change in your life - I’ve had friends that were too afraid to move on or change their passion/job and they were just not happy until they finally realized they put off being happier or simply waited too long to make the change.

Thank you for being so supportive. It’s so true…and time goes so quickly that before we know it, we can wake up and years of unhappiness have gone by. I value these years with my kids so much, because I know they won’t last forever. I want to be as present in this moment with them as possible.

You are a shining soul in this universe. You always seem to uplift my spirits about life, motherhood, and of course, knitting. It seems whenever I’m going through something, you happen to mention something inspiring to help me through. Feel very lucky to have you and I’m proud of your strength and honesty with yourself. And that the blanket is perfection!

Another great thought provoking podcast, both in terms of life and in terms of knitting, Leena! My color choices for my knitting projects has paralleled yours in that I initially was only drawn to all the beautiful colors, then transitioned to solids and some neutrals. This podcast reignited my love of crazy colors again. 😀 Thank you for reminding me that I can be a lover of ALL colors and that there is no right or wrong in our choices. The additional ideas you proposed with minis was really fun and I can see some of them in my future. Awesome job on the baby blanket. It is gorgeous and so much fun. Congrats on taking a big life step and looking towards your future plans. Your eagerness to make the world a better place will manifest somehow in whatever you choose to. Resist less! Thank you

Your pod resonated with me Lena. Resist less is powerful. I’m 71 facing quite a bit of change in my life some good, some not so good. I’m going to keep those two words close to my heart. Our local Council run gym has classes for over 55s and boy they are pretty strenuous. So good. I also attend Pilates twice weekly and love that the classes have all ages. It’s a mixed level class. You choose the level right for you. I’m glad you are following your heart. Knitting and life content so good today as always. Your colourful blanket is so beautiful. I am always excited when I see your podcast. I remember when my boys were little. The middle one got into trouble with his teacher. I too got my mother claws up and told the teacher what I felt. At the end of the school year she got fired. My sons are older than you, but they know that I will always have their backs. Just do what feels right. You are amazing.

I share your joy in motherhood; it's enriched my life beyond measure. While I can't guarantee that your children will be anything like our son, I can tell you that the role continues on indefinitely. Our boy is 29 -- independent, gainfully employed, living in another city -- but there's still the occasional call for advice or chat about something deep and meaninful. He's now mature enough to understand we have wisdom and life experience (and the years to show for it). With all of your passions and pursuits, you need not fear empty-nesthood. (After we dropped Blake at school his freshman year, I had an adventure planned for hubby and me...something fun to look forward to immediately, as a transition). I imagine the transition is harder for those with no hobbies or interests beyond their kids.

Hi Leena! Since I smashed my thumb last night and can't knit, I was hoping to wake up to one of your episodes. You just made my day!! Your baby blanket is really stunning! Your colors are absolutely beautiful so you've inspired me to stash dive and put some colors together so I'm really when my thumb is! I don't have any children, but I do have a nephew that I could not love more if he was my very own, so I get the "mama bear" feelings of protecting to no end. I remember Tanner's 1st of school and every year thereafter (well, until it would have embarrassed him to have mom and aunt Syl dropping him off). My sister and I would hide for a bit and just watch our baby, the first couple of years, to ensure he was safe and happy! My sister did have to have a tough conversation or two with teachers along the way and it was so amazing how both conversations turned out because both my sister and those teachers understood that Tanner's well-being was the most important thing, so those teachers hearing all about how good Tanner's home life was and how much he was cared for and loved truly helped these teachers not judge based on any one particular incident. I just know it will turn out well for you and your son too! You know, this episode also hit home for me in another way. I've been thinking about not taking on new clients as an Executive Coach as it doesn't really fit with what I want to do anymore. I enjoy helping people figure out their paths but sometimes it just feels like it takes too much out of ME. Thank you so much for your amazing pod and thank you for sharing yourself with us!! We are lucky to have you on our knitting journey with us - with a side of life! I love it!! Hugs from Texas!

Hi Sylvia! So sorry for my super late response. Is your thumb better?? I hope you are back to knitting! Tanner is very lucky to have a bonus mom!! I can’t imagine anything better! And you are feeling what I was feeling. It takes so much out of you to give at that level. I was just done with it. Everything is cyclical…things come and they go. We have to learn to move through life with a little more ease. Sending you luck on the journey, whatever you decide to do!

Love the black elephant shawl! My favorite ways to use color graduation is to find a pattern that does it in a subtle way such that it’s not very obvious what happened. Tamy Gore also has some wonderful shawls that uses almost a watercolor effect to blend color in a beautiful way.

Lovely baby blanket, joyful and uplifting to see. I love marling, it's so satisfying! Endings and beginnings, this seems to be a theme right now. I start my day with "How May I serve" then just go about my day staying positive, going with the flow and seeing where I can help. It can come in many forms but if you start out with that intention the universe aligns situations for you to help with. Can I also ask whether you have thought about teaching gentle fitness to older people who want to grow old in a strong and healthy way? I am 60 and go to the gym 4 times a week, twice with a trainer. It's helped me so much, I'm fitter now than ever and my trainer has helped me so much. Our generation want to be fit and healthy as we age so I feel you could be needed very much, be it with teaching fitness or yoga. Just my thoughts. Wishing you a happy week and I hope you sort out your worries with your sons teacher. 🙏🙌💗

Hi Karen! Thank you so much for your message. I agree so deeply about the universe rising to meet your intentions. I’m going to adopt that morning practice. Before I do anything I always try to make sure my intention is in the right place, and that I’m not just serving my ego. And yes, I’d very much enjoy working in fitness for a different segment of the population. It’s such a good idea. Right now I’m trying to take a moment to breathe, and see where the universe might take me! Good for you being so committed to your fitness!!

Your marked magic blanket is... well, magic!! So gorgeous! I feel like you would make a gorgeous Garti Cardi, it's a marled cardigan, basically faded cardigan that's knit in garter stitch, except the sleeves are just in stockinette. It's got a cute, relaxed silhouette. Thought you might like to have it on your radar, if it's not already.

Leena - you just knew I would respond about your son/teacher comment, didn't you? I've been teaching for 20 years now - high school - and have raised my three children, and partially raised my twin nephews and my niece. So - I've been on both sides of many, many parent/student/teacher situations. First, I strongly encourage you to meet with the teacher in person and, super important, bring your son. Face-to-face. You will learn so much by just having everyone openly and respectfully share information. In most cases, miscommunication or misunderstandings are at the root of such issues. I cannot tell you how many times everything was cleared up and all parties walked away happy when all information was simply clarified. However, there are 'bad teachers' in the world, and I personally met with two of them with my own children. I was able to empathize with my sons and helped them navigate that class because I was able to experience the teacher myself. They learned valuable lessons about how to work with a leader who was - I'll use the word unreasonable. As a teacher, I have had SO many meetings with parents and when all three or four of us talked, we were able to clarify misunderstandings and miscommunications. So, fingers crossed for you - and do let us know how it went. BRAVO to you for being brave and making decision about your new focus and direction outside of teaching fitness. AND - absolute perfect content - just in time for advent season.

Hi Sylvia! I’m so sorry for responding so late. The last week has been insanely busy. I value your thoughts so much. It changes the way I will see teacher interactions in the future. With this one, I decided to go it alone because it was a style over substance issue. There was no nuance to the words spoken to my son. It was just purely cruel and inappropriate. I didn’t want my son to have to live through that moment again. It actually all ended up going very well. I spoke to the head of the middle school also, and he said this has been a complaint in teh past with this teacher. I’m so glad I addressed it! My son is going on an international trip where this teacher is the chaperone! I needed to feel comfortable!

Yes! I believe it was 140-something. I can’t remember exactly-this is where my lack of note taking is so annoying! He does give you a multiple for the repeats, so you can decide your own size, but it was a little confusing. I had to adjust on the first few rows.
