Glad to hear that you are looking for a PT! I've had 5 knee surgeries and now both hips replaced, so even moving at a slower pace or shorter time frame is certainly way better than doing more damage or not moving at all!! Thanks for shaing!

Sorry to hear about this neck herniation Brooke. I’ll be praying for u. The Lord is able to heal you. I had some herniation in my back and I was healed. Please be careful and do everything you can to be around for the long run. We need you to be around to inspire us. Don’t worry about losing CrossFit right now. This new direction with your own program, your personality and voice, and the new stuf with horses and such, will take u to the next level. Thank you so much for using your gifts and I’m praying for u always.

Booooo! to another pesky neck issue for you, but we know you'll do what's needed and triumph over adversity once more. And then you'll inspire us all over again 😁. Much love sister 👉👉👉. 😎

Brooke, I really enjoy your content. As a 50, soon to be 51 y/o I’m getting more cautious with what I will do in the box. I’ve stopped doing HSPUs because I’m about 185 and as such when tired of I rest on my head, it’s a significant amount of stress on my neck/spine. I’m curious, is your herniation from any specific movement that you can tell?
@Love-ql7rd
@Love-ql7rd Жыл бұрын
I asked her this awhile back and never heard a reply. I am curious too if HSPU are the culprit. I will probably stop doing them as well. Not worth all the risk IMO.

@@Love-ql7rd that’s why I stopped. There were some issues in my local box and I also listened of the retired games athletes say they were scrapping them. I felt like that’s prob a great idea

I feel for you Brooke. At 65 years of age, I wrestle with the effects of aging and wear and tear on my body. My mind is about 13 years of age and wants to do what I did when I was young. But Im learning to make the necessary changes to keep going. LIfting for longevity now. YOU my dear, are one of my greatest inspirations. I know what you are going through is painful and frustrating for you, but the your honesty and tenasity in dealing with the challenges is equally inspiring for those of us face similar challenges. You are an incredible woman. Love you Brooke, and wishing you the best.

Yeah that is a pretty small herniation, I have had one like that for 5 years. You have adjacent segment level issues, you're under 35 years old. If you keep doing what you are doing with this heavy weight stuff you're just going to have more and more surgeries. Spine surgery is so far behind other operative areas. An m6 disc replacement is your best bet but even disc replacements require cutting of crucial ligaments and the neck still never moves the same way. In the future they're going to use your own cells to grow a portion of disc material and insert it into the space, being the perfect replacement...who knows might be 50 years till we see that. You're stubborn, so am I. I've had 4 neck surgeries because of complications from only a single level herniation, then shortly after c5/c6 failed and needed fusion. I've still run 6 minute miles with this condition. You're a very intelligent motivated person and I believe you can do anything you put your mind to based on your determination and grit. Don't let iron be your downfall, I understand working out is in your soul but you need to find a happy middle ground and stop the degeneration.

@glennrussell3252

The majority of people, over the age of 20, have varying degrees of disc herniating somewhere along the neck/spine. It’s completely normal and widespread in society. Most people either live (unknowingly) with this normal condition while others take drastic measures to attack the condition with surgeries and other invasive and unnecessary steps to “correct” the so-called problem. It looks like Ms. Ence is on the path to a slow but steady dimming of her skeletal and muscular health that will accelerate if she pursues surgeries that will exacerbate the condition that she believes is limiting her daily activities. There’s a saying that without trauma (and accident or known serious spinal injury), any notable spinal problems cannot exist. Herniated discs, however, are a real and significant issue (though rare).
