Dear Jim, Memories are made of this; what a joy to remininsce. Well done. Kind regards.

Watching you make those scarf joints and come up with real tight joints makes me appreciate the unsung sharpening skills as well as carpentry execution you do, Jim. BUT nothing beats those precious moments in the intro with Marylin.

I have never seen a beam go together better. It is rough working alone. Glad you had your helper there in the beginning.

I remember thinking you were going to give yourself a hernia and then lose it rocking on the saw horse overhang. I had a flashback rewatching this. Excellent joinery, happy to give a second thumbs up. I especially like the intro of your daughter's "Let's go", meaning "get to work dad." Very cute and funny, thanks for sharing Jim.

Hello. You mentioned 5-years of learning and reading. I just wanted to mention a historical reference of rural life, wood, tools, ... The writings "Americana" by Eric Sloane, 1954. This is a triology volume set is easy reading of historical rural life

Hey Jim, It's still amazing how much you accomplished on your own. Moving and placing the big timbers solo... You have accomplished a great deal, even after your accident. To borrow a phrase from Essential Craftsman, ...Keep up the good work!

Awesome work Jim, even in retrospect. Wish my joinery was that good but I'm getting there. My build is going well I have the mill inside where it belongs but not powered up yet. Closing up holes is ongoing, "The devil is in the details". Bridge crane is up but not powered up yet. WE burried the conduit and pulled wire while the weather heald, Thank God. Still have to connect the wires and then I can take down the temp. overhead wires before the snow does it for me. kind of a push there but I'll get it before spring.

A real blast from the past. Lot of water under the bridge since then. Great achievement so far. Hope this year is good to you and the family.

I'm still amazed how you did it without help. Watching it again I was still nervous that they may go over the side.

Morning Jim.... we wound up with about five inches of snow over night. Shy of breaking your leg on this project, I'm shocked that you didn't get a hernia!
@TheTradesmanChannel5 жыл бұрын
Me too John. I've lugged and lifted since I was a kid, guess I'm lucky in the hernia department.

Well it is a point worth considering ..... many people are not physically capable of doing this kind of work! Man's got to know his limitations ....... and not push past them too far or too fast! Also getting the "helpers" trained up is just as important ;0)
@TheTradesmanChannel4 жыл бұрын
@@totherarf You are right on all accounts there Dave. Man for sure has to know his limitations, I know if something doesn't feel right physically while doing it then that action gets stopped right there and done a different way. There are many little nuances to working with heavy objects, little tricks in the muscles. Even that gin pole that knocked me into the stairwell wasn't too heavy for me, it just happened to slide and trip me up.

@@TheTradesmanChannel Yes, information great as I progress on my replica(s). I even have a chuckle when you have made same decisions as I, such as shortening top plates back a foot and changing setup to cut multiple rafters multiple at a time. So much good feels! =0) Seriously man, I got warm just watching that! Already wishing for those kind of days here. Winter can't be over soon enough. LOL When you do a flashback like this, could you list when it first aired?

I sure can. This one was I think in April of 2018.

Morning Jim. I still think the tiny one was telling you to get busy... "Let's go!". Ha ha ha. Lobe the throw backs. One question, do the views on the older videos go up significantly when you post these throw back videos? Does this affect your revenues with The tube? See ya on the next one.
