Even with getting my hair dyed, my hair was flourishing...kept.up.with my hair appts for trims and treatments and I was loving it... Got covid right b4 Christmas and I promise you, my hair fell our so.bad....like badly broken off... the left side is what broke off badly and the middle of my hair and it's weak, too much breakage, and just not right...I told my stylist I just need to come and get most of it chopped so that I can start over fresh and healthy ... it has to be done...I thought I was the only one losing hair because of covid🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ its DAMAGED

It’s a wonder that you even have hair AT ALL!😩 It’ll grow back once everything tapers off and you get use to your new life. I’ve been blow drying my hair every wash day. Never had an issue with my hair either. I never used a heat protectants or any of that. I did hot oil treatments, deep conditioned every wash, and only washed my hair once very month and a half or so depending on the style. When I washed I blew my hair out using the tension method on low heat and then used a comb attachment OR a paddle brush. My hair was perfect until Covid hit me in December.

@@monicahill750 yes. I had covid in April of 2021 and lost my smell completely and taste loss was around 40% i did sinus rinses with distilled water and saline 1-2x day for a couple weeks. I immediately began smell training and it took some time but with consistent supplementation and smell training it started coming back in a couple weeks. Peppermint was the first smell I started to sense. I was rotating that, eucalyptus, orange, lemongrass, tea tree, cedarwood, and lavendar. It came back completely after a few months. I will say there are a couple of things that don't smell exactly the same as they used to but not anything signifcant enough to be bothered by. I also ate a lot of oranges (vitamin c) and I think that helped with taste, though it was never gone completely like my smell was. Do the smell training atleast 3 x/day. Wishing you 100% recovery 🙏🏽 ❤️ .

Yep, I went thru the same thing. I did it by pressing my hair 3 times and I lost my curl pattern. I held on for a while, tried everything you did, got 30% curl patter back but that it. Once my new growth got almost armpit length, I had my girl cut off the raggedy ends (she’s a licensed beautician) and been in braids ever since to not shed tears looking at armpit length instead of mid back. I’m glad I did it, no regrets, hair is growing mad crazy, will be mid back again by the end of 2022 with only one texture. My Advice……..Once you know how to retain length and keep hair moisturized and healthy it’s ok to cut and start over. Go ahead and cut, IT WILL grow back fast.

I honestly believe it's the covid. My hair was fine prior to contracting the virus. One to 2 months later, I noticed severe shedding, edges started thinning, bald spots in few places of my head. My stress level has been high too so that's another thing. Presently, I'm using my zinc, iron , B and D vitamins; and I'll work on managing my stress. Perhaps that should help ease the telogen effluvium ( severe shedding). But I'm definitely not shaving my head.

Hi Jess, i barely comment on videos but i feel like i need to share this with you, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. March 2022 i had to do my fourth big chop reluntly due to color damamge and i felt so sad and insecure being back to the akward length. Sometimes i still regret it but my hair is growing back already at its healthy state which gives me the strength to continue my natural hair journey. I remember that when i had my third bigchop due to heat damage, my hair was the same length as yours, so i would always watch your hair videos to remind me of how long my hair would be if i didn't flat iron it and it would hurt so badly. I have had to many stepbacks due to heat, color damage, stress and negligence, that sometimes i feel like i will never reach my hair goal. But time, patience and consistency are the keys, we just need to stay focused and stay away from anything that can interrupt our journey again. Besides, many hair influencers (Isimeme, Mercy, faceovermatter, etc) are having setbacks and bigchops this year, so it is nice to know that there are others going through the same thing and they are also sharing tips on how they are recovering their hair. I will be here watching your hair recovery journey as i am also in the same journey. Cheers.

Tea rinses helps with itching and shedding. Try green and cloves with neem teas. Also invest in an electric scalp massager. If you use as clarifying shampoo, use the scalp massager while the shampoo is still in. Three times a week, use an oil with rosemary and massage your scalp with the oil a minimum of 3 times a week. Also eliminate stress. You were stressed before the wedding. Don't cut just yet.

I had pretty bad postpartum shedding and just did a big chop, my second one and it’s been hard! My hair was pretty long and healthy but pregnancy completely changed my hair. Getting used to short hair but the shedding stopped and my hair is getting back to normal 🥰

My Postpartum shedding with my son was horrible. While pregnant with him I had enough hair for 2 1/2 people. Then I lost softball sized hair balls after I had him. Thankfully I did not have bald spots, but I’m still recovering nearly 3yrs later 😫. I have tons of new growth now, but I’m working on getting my length back. I had two kids back to back so I’m sure that had a lot to do with my massive hair loss.

I know you don't want to cut it because it will be so short, but it's going to break off at the line anyway. Save yourself the stress and heartache of seeing the large amount of hair loss at wash day/styling, and just cut it all off, and work with the twa.

I know you said you're not ready but I think you should do the big chop and keep the new growth than holding on to the hair that is no longer serving you for another 6 months, as it might start to go up the hair shaft to your new growth. Btw you are beautifullll. Congratulations to your new season, marriage and so on, maybe your hair is reflecting the new changes and a new hair cut could be part of the new start. There's nothing wrong with starting again, your a champ and your hair grows very fast and healthy and luscious and this time next year, your hair will be grown back to shoulder length and better.

Hey Jess! Loved your video! Wanted to provide some feedback. I used Rogaine and I made the decision to stop. If you use Rogaine, it is strongly recommend that you continue to use it for the rest of your life or else the hair that grew with the help of Rogaine will for sure fall out. I experienced it and it is stated on the packaging. Post hair shedding my scalp itched like crazy. To resolve this issue, I used rosemary and clove water for a month and my scalp completely stopped itching. Wishing you many blessings on your hair journey!

I’m in a similar position :( my stylist said that I have chemical damage from something, but I don’t know. She thinks someone put a texturizer in my hair and, based on my experience at a diff salon, I agree. My entire curl pattern is looser, but I am not a fan cause it is also weaker and doesn’t hold a shape. It was my first go at being natural, and I took this pretty hard because I was finally starting to love my hair natural… I admire how you seem to be lighthearted about it. I’m trying..and luckily I still have curls that I can wear naturally, even if they aren’t the curls I grew to love. Bottom line, your attitude in this video was motivating for me. Thanks 😊

Jess, I’m sorry about what happened to your hair! I can relate completely. This same thing happened to my hair and I had to do a big chop #2 about 6 months ago. It happened right after I dyed my hair black and straightened it the next week. I wouldn’t count the black box dye out and combo of straightening natural hair especially if it’s not used to that kind of stress. My problems started about 2 months later I could notice the thinning. Better days are ahead though ♥️

My hair did the same thing after covid, and a few people I know also. Your hair looks exactly like mine, and I did a bunch of research on the topic. It has to do with a high temp, but also the body pulls from everywhere to fight off the virus. And that includes hair for both women and men. But it's more noticeable for women obviously. So my bet is definitely Covid, I'm sorry hunni.

What a coincidence, I too have did three big chops because unfortunately all the stylists I go to cannot straighten my hair without damaging it. But you can definitely do some mini twists or mini braids before you get braids with braiding hair. If I had to guess what your fun style will be, I would say maybe a nice shaped cut/curly cut or some sort of natural hair updo?

@@lilnativa_That_4C_hair_Chick I figured it would make more sense if I gave you info from a website because I’d confuse you with my rambling 🤣: That’s because hard water contains a buildup of minerals, such as calcium and magnesium. This produces a film on the hair, making it difficult for moisture to penetrate. As a result, the hair is left dry and prone to breakage.

I know a lot of people are not gonna agree with me but you have got to change your hair routine. When you are constantly wetting your hair, manipulating it, and letting it add dry this is why your hair is thinning. I had to learn this for my own hair. The only time that your hair should be wet is when you wash it. Put it in the style you're going to put it in and dry it completely. Honestly, I learned a lot from Cyndoll's channel. She is so honest about the science of hair air and debunking all of these natural hair hacks and myths.
