In Singapore although the cost of living is high but i felt pretty safe, clean and comfortable compared to many countries i’ve travelled to. Here extremely low crime rate(not zero), a country with extremely strict Gun Laws(unheard of any gun violence for the past 10yrs) also not to mention there’s no killing of innocent civilians and nothing worse than invasion of another country.

For starters, the subtitles on the interviews with the triad members are just straight up wrong in some parts (see 18:30 for example. "And he started bullshitting that the world has changed" - where did that come from?). Also calling Singapore a "drug hub" is quite sensationalist and dramatic. On the point about singapore being a "drug hub" now: Compared to other countries, Singapore, where the penalty for drug related offences is death, can barely be called a "drug hub".

Maids in Singapore are NOT slaves ,😅🤣😂 but are actually housekeepers who manage the household, and are paid salary of between S$500 to S$1500 per month , but since the accommodation or lodging is free, and food is free, and medical treatment is free and provided, and toiletries is free, and transport is provided when maid go out to buy grocery, so real actual cost to employer is about $1000 to $3500 per month. Thats not slavery at all. In fact the salary of the maid in Singapore, is usually about 3 to 10 times her salary in her home country, for the same exact work . Due to fact that maids in Singapore are paid so much higher salary than in her home country , with so many fringe benefits like free food free lodging free medical free toiletries etc, so hundreds of thousands of maid compete to work in Singapore. Singapore is still the only city I have been in where a woman can leave her purse on a table in a bar, go to the bathroom and come back and its still there. Its the only place where I have seen people in a hawker centre, leave their card key to their office on the table to hold the place while they go get their food. Its the only city where I have been happy to walk home at 3 am after a night of partying and no-one has approached me in any way. Maybe I don't live in Geylang. People for the most part seem to treat each other with respect. It is not perfect, and the treatment and safety net leaves a lot to be desired. However Singapore is starting to mature towards having a seriously aging population without the family support that was there in earlier times of multi-generational familities, so its on that journey to provide some sort of support. I have watched the little red dot since Lee Kwan Yu's time until now - post covid recovery and am impressed.

For the domestic helper's issue. There are always 2 sides of stories. There are some abuses from employers and some abuses from the domestic helpers. It really boils down to indivisuals. In case you are not aware. The Manpower Authority is very strict with the helpers' welfare. The employers are always being held liable for anything. Thus some employers tend to over-control their helpers.
@globaladdict Жыл бұрын
Most abuse cases come down to whether the worker came to the country legally or not. If they're illegal, the employer has so much power over them because they can just report them to the cops and they're getting jailed/deported. If they're legal, then they can freely find another job.

Great job for the misinformation and over exaggerations. Most of the private and landed properties are owned by Singaporeans and the drug scene at Geylang is nothing compared with the rest of the world including Russia and USA (if Kensington Avenue even ring a bell to you). I don't get the jibe about eating at hawkers. People like you and everyone else eat at coffeeshops, cafes & restaurants, right? Knowing some Singaporeans for real would be a good start to rightly portray the bad sides of Singapore.

I've been to Singapore a few times and lived there for a short time in the 80's. I love Singapore. It's not perfect. The cost of living is among the highest in the world but the tradeoff is well worth it. Singapore is about the cleanest and safest country in the world to live in. The best, and also the cheapest, food in Singapore is found in the many hawker centers throughout the country.
@r.a.h.175 Жыл бұрын
One of the measurements of a country’s moral and safety standards could be derived from analyzing in depth the data about their numbers in prison and the breakdown of the misdemeanors and crimes committed, the crime rate, etc.. Only then can you offer fair comment. You made short selective visits and interviewed a few questionable and elderly persons. That cannot be accurate. Your shots were aimed and angled at the negativities. Needless to say every country has their disadvantaged and sad stories. By and large Singapore is a well organized city state. The rule of law is evidently of a good standard with prompt attention by the police and authorities should you find yourself wronged in any way. Warts and all, Singapore is way up in the table of a well-oiled well-run safe city state.

That guy playing music in outdoors in Singapore is NOT a beggar,😅😂 but is actually a street entertainer or outdoor performer, who entertain people with music or performance and get paid by people who reward him with small money eg 10 cents to $1 , paid per willing audience person for the performance. If many people pay that performer , he can possibly earn between $1000 to even $30,000 per month . The higher level income is possible if the performer perform at high human traffic area where tens of thousands of people pass by everyday .

Singapore is one of the safest country in the world. They have one of the most efficient administration/govt. The administration and the people had done a fantastic job building the country from a small economy (1965 - Independence day) to become the richest country in all of South East Asia and they will continue to grow more wealthy and prosperous. Singapore is stunningly beautiful, clean and the people are very friendly. I am from Malaysia and hv travelled to Singapore many times because we Malaysians are just next door to Singapore. The maids/housekeepers are laughing and joking and smiling because they are happy here in Singapore ,and making relatively good income , so its not correct to falsely claim that the maids are under slavery . There might be some stricter employers , but its definitely not slavery .
@exs1803 Жыл бұрын
Slavery is when people are not paid for their work. Maids are employed under contracts with stipulated terms and conditions. As u said, if they are slaves why would so many of them fight to get a job in Singapore? Why has their govt not raised it as an issue? Truth is many of these maids with their income can send money back to their country to feed their families, buy land, start businesses etc. That there are over 200K maids attest to this. For everyone's information/knowledge, Singapore was not discovered or opened by the British colonists. Singapore was not an uninhabited island when the colonists arrived. It is a civilized and prosperous State under the Islamic government system led by the Malay Sultan. It is a state that is rapidly developing economically and socially. The arrival of colonists from the west damaged the socio-economics and personality of the people in Singapore. a little knowledge for all. The original name of Singapore is a "TEMASIK". Why is the name changed to Singapore? it is taken from the logo of the british government which has a lion on it. Please don't say there are lions in southeast Asia 😂. There's no lion in here except tiger 🐅 🐯. British changed a lot of history, especially in the Malay Peninsula. All over the world deceived by fabricated history made by brit colonial. I suggest you all search also about the history of Penang/Pulau Pinang 😂. Hey Brits, lies won't last forever, The real facts will come out sooner or later, that's all. Shame on you, liar!
