@baraclude I understand your point, but Chinese Folk Religion is quite widespread and includes similar superstitions and folklore practiced across various Han Chinese groups, not just in Fujian or Taiwan. While I’m not sure if the festival in the video is strictly local to coastal Fujian or Taiwan, elements of this folk religion can also be found in Teochew, Hakka, Taishan, and the Chinese diaspora. It blends aspects of Daoism, Buddhism, and Confucianism, making it a broader tradition than just one regional practice. ​ I would also add that while distinct, even Japanese Shinto, Korean Shamanism, Vietnamese Folk Religion has some cross-cultural influence with Chinese religious practices that are not unlike the festivals displayed in the video.
