Another Successful Reunion: Leopard Cub Back With Mother!

In a joint effort, Wildlife SOS and the Maharashtra Forest Department successfully reunited a 5-day-old male leopard cub with its mother near Kusur village in Junnar, Maharashtra. After a preliminary medical examination, the cub was promptly returned to its mother on the same day of the rescue.

I always love these types of rescues and that the community/FD are working together with WSOS to preserve wildlife at such a fragile stage of their lives. Such a smart approach that recognizes natural tendencies of mom yet keeps the cub safe until she’ll come looking for it. Such a joyous reunion.

Our community outreach and education programs are very effective. We train community leaders to take action and call us asap! Slowly everyone is learning what to do if they find cubs while they're harvesting crops.

There's a lot of open farmland in the area for crops, but at least it's not being used to raise cattle and the like.
