Guitar tech here... I'm pretty sure that unless otherwise specified, covered ceramic magnet Chinese humbuckers are wax potted after taping, then the covers are added and they aren't wax potted again. This leads to the covered humbuckers being really microphonic, but uncovered ones not so much. I know that Firefly had an issue with that in early runs, but they listened to customer feedback and started using alnico V magnets and wax potting after the covers are added. The only other humbucker equipped guitars I have in my shop at the moment are by Indio (microphonic), Rogue (microphonic), IYV (sound decent), and Epiphone (the ProBuckers are really good pups). I think it's part of the pup problem on the Grote, but the highs hurt my ears until you used the boost pedal to boost the mids. It sounded too brassy to me. I think I'd buy a Firefly or a Westcreek before this Grote. I've heard that Grote have a couple of semi-hollow models that are pricier than this, and I hope that for more money you get better hardware and electronics.

A nice look at the Grote. I never had considered this brand, but maybe it's worth another look. Thanks!

I had good luck with the semi-hollow. The solid body, video coming...(it didn't go well) Thanks for watching and commenting!

I've looked at those, but I'm quite happy with my Firefly 338. As far as cheap semi-hollow body guitars go, you can't beat a Firefly.

@@MotorRoseMusic sweeeeet!! i did a comparison film of the 2 i mentioned... the epiphone sounded wayy better so i ordered comparable pups and replaced the p90s in the grote... i did a re match vid and was floored at the results... id say buildwise the grote is right there with my epi model!

On balance for a cheap guitar as a gig spare, these cheap imports can be a great value after a setup- maybe tuning peg upgrade as you mentioned too. But it seems the luck of the draw what gets shipped. My LPDC Jr needed just a setup, but I’ve heard some horror stories about what comes out of the box. Fixing sins that double the price makes it a negative experience

Not bad. Those semi/hollow bodies always feel a little big for me personally, but I do like the way they look.

I agree on the size of them. It took me a while to get used to them and I still don't have a desire to make one my daily player. Thank you for watching!

Lead lines, huh. Anyway, decent sounding guitar. I wish people would review this guitar just playing clean. That’s kinda what it’s really meant for.

@@ChezzOnBass The first part of the demo was clean. You heard that, right? Perhaps you were focused on me saying, "lead lines"? Anyway, thanks for watching 🤘
