The guitar that Grant Green had on the album cover you're talking about was a Gibson ES-330…a full hollow body with P90 pickups. I had a '61 that I sold cheap for rent money. 😢 I should have kept it and lived in a cardboard box. Good review, nice playing.

Really great playing! I think there is still something wonky with that bridge pickup. On it's own, it should sound a lot brighter - more trebley than the middle or neck switch position, but it doesn't. Also, the middle switch position sounds a bit "quacky" which is another tip off that wiring is suspect, probably out of phase. But on that neck pickup...you got it happening, for darn sure!

Very interesting Mike I think that guitar sounds great! In my humble opinion with regards to most instruments much of what comes out has a lot to do with what the musician brings to it.

Love the playing!!! Really nice. I'm going to have to try to learn some of those jazzy licks. I've been wanting to buy one of these guitars, but I hadn't seen a review by a really good player. Now I have. Thank you! Btw, there was another reviewer whose neck pickup wasn't working when he got it.

That is a great sounding guitar especially for $200. That middle position is almost certainly wired out of phase. I think that’s why you find it spongey. The cool thing is that some early Gibson’s Les Paul’s equipped with p90s were wired this way. Freddie King has a lot of great out of phase sounds on his Hideaway album. Can be a really cool sound in the right context. Maybe not ideal for jazz, though😂
